The chairlift love

We LOVE to see it :katie2:

Posted

I also watched "American Psycho" for the first time this year and loved it. :alexz:

I love "The Hate U Give". This movie always makes me cry. :'(

And i have a soft spot for the After franchise. :oh:

PVRIS & LÉON :clap3:

Posted

wow i've not listened to most of those albums in full except for chairlift and the one pvris album that i didn't really care for

but yas get into chairlift a lil bit (caroline polachek ha impact :clap3: )

Posted

Ah LEON, especially You & I  It was on my list last year and it still sounds great

I liked PVRIS output last year and I think Death of Me or Hallucinations appeared on my list, but the recent tracks did not really touch me

Really liked Fickle Friends album You Are Someone Else, but for some reason I did not touch anything else they ever released

I have not heard much stuff from Magdalena Bay, but Only If You Want it was also my favorite song :clap3:

I need to get into Chairlift finally considering PANG is my 2019 AOTY :toofunny3:

Posted

I love Hallucinations :clap3:

Posted

I see some ASC/VL artists here

Perched for Bree Runway's 2020 output stanning hopefully

01. Ten Fé 'Future Perfect, Present Tense' (2019)

Loooove that album. I had it in last year's rankings. I wanted to place No Night Lasts Forever really high in my Top 100 songs of 2019, but I had already placed it 98th in my 2018 chart. COIN's album this year was awesome too. You might want to check out Supply & Demand by The Washing Line Economy.

YESS, let the magdahive grow.  only if you want it is such a classic song to me.

glad you're stanning chairlift too.  i feel like caroline's solo album having stan success will lead a lot of people to water.  their sophomore album is a masterpiece.

You're so INDIE now! Happy to see Phoebe + Chloe & Hallee! :clap3:

Yeah my taste has really started leaning into an alternative/indie pop direction since 2016 or so :gaycat3: We love it!

I love how you have a discoveries section because it really rounds out the year experience. Not everything is new, sometimes you stumble upon older things you come to love  (or hate ?)

Pretty Much It commentary tracks are so funny, but I'm one of those losers that only watch what they put on YouTube. Still their format is great and usually no matter who is doing the commentary, they have great chemistry together!

Plenty of these (especially the top albums/songs) had a significant impact on my year so it would almost be rude to not include them :gaycat2:

I was the same way before I caved and got Patreon just for them last year :lakitu: I subscribed for a month & binge watched a ton of their content, then came back for another month during this year. I'll probably return in January as well. It's just like hate watching a show/movie with a few friends, which is always a fun time

Well it's good that I'm not the only one who's late :fan: Exactly!

Same goes for Moth To The Flame for Chairlift :lakitu: You and I is a cute bop :clap3:

Never heard that one, whoops :fan: Only the first 3 main EPs + OIYWI. Took a peek and it sounds alright.

MTTF is a highlight, just not strong enough to make my top 50 :gaycat6:

I think Good Morning is my favorite Grouplove song tbh

I think I only like My House by PVRIS, although I listened to Dead Weight yesterday and it was better than I remembered, still nothing epic though

School of Rock is cute, that's the only one I've seen tbh, I'm not a huge movies fan

It's so fun :katie2:

At least you like one of their standouts :jamming: I've always liked Dead Weight but it did need a few listens to really sink in

Well damn  I can't imagine the amount of classiques you've missed out on

I hate when movies like these are labeled as horror because seeing that made me want to stay away from American Psycho, but it was really just a dark comedy with a few horror elements here and there. I had a great time with it :alexz3:

It could've been a little less cheesy but there were some impactful moments for sure

Well that's unfortunate! :sadviolin: I'm excited to hate on the new one

Definitely an easy discography highlight :katie2:

I'd say their music is getting better with every era :lakitu: Their debut was solid, the following EP was even better, now their upcoming release is starting off insanely well - unfortunately their release strategy is annoying but oh well.

Do it :gaycat2:

I think joan & Chairlift are the only ones I discovered from ASC. Luckily I caught onto Magdalena Bay before they took over both games :gaygacat2:

Oh for sure. Anyone that loved Pang & is desperate for new music from her can get several albums they missed out on. I saw the name Chairlift plenty of times but never felt the need to check them out until someone people shared Ch-Ching & Show U Off in an ATRL game.

The Invisible Man, Bombshell sweeties...

Women In Music Pt. III, sweetie...

drag positions

in your eyes too low

i dare you :bibliahh:

I mean I didn't expect Women in Music to be any higher, but it still deserved better :keir:

I kinda liked Oh Wonder's album more than I was expecting to, although still nothing great

Didn't listen to BENEE's EP from this year tbh

Healer was forgettable, BBC's album was pretty good and might've deserved to make the actual list, but again no huge loss

These are the only ones that may have deserved it... probably My God the most, that was one of my favorites from their album but not sure how many entries they still have?

Joan disappointed me a little bit if I'm being honest, the songs were very boybandish, not in a bad way (more throwback stuff like BSB), but I thought they would have more of like a TDCC type sound

For singles I like some but no big losses, except maybe Everything Else Has Gone Wrong

Posted

Honestly, 'Wonder' and 'Positions' were quite underwhelming compared to bother their previous albums. I was looking forward to both releases, but they're honestly just snooze fests. :michael:

The amount of quality in your tracks! I am so happy you enjoyed Tenille, the album was so good. She's an underrated Canadian gem and I hope she picks up traction. :heart2:

I know you don't love those singles.. but I love almost every single one. :rip: 'cardigod' is amazing. :'(

"I hate when movies like these are labeled as horror because seeing that made me want to stay away from American Psycho, but it was really just a dark comedy with a few horror elements here and there. I had a great time with it" > WHAT IS THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN? Don't you dare to talk about my favorite genre like that.  Also, "American Psycho" is labeled as a "black comedy slasher film" on Wikipedia. :gaycat2:

JoJo's December Baby was one of my favorite xmas albums in years :'(

nnnnn not HAIM and Ariana flopped in bottom lists :cries:

Selena flopping with both of her singles :rip: Rare is a hit that got away :'(

Poor HAIM :'( I really like half the album, forgot the rest though so I guess it's a fair placement. I hated positions at first but it really grew on me the more I listened.

as for the singles, I'm okay with all of those :fan: I like Daisies a lot though and cardigan is cute although very overrated
