Ewan Chaos Posted December 2, 2020 Posted December 2, 2020 Wait this is a FLAWLESS Best of idea! Especially when the regular Grammys ****ed up so many categories (well minus country/Americana/roots/etc) Though I don't know much of what's here yet...

Mezik Posted December 3, 2020 Author Posted December 3, 2020 (edited) Mezik's 'Best of 2020' - Music Video of the Year Nominee *For the best music video that was released between December 1st, 2019 and December 1st, 2020.* Cam - 'Till There's Nothing Left' This music video is beautifully done, and really captures the essence of what it means to give someone your entire heart & soul until there is literally nothing left. Cam looks stunning in the music video as well. I also love how there is representation of a gay couple in the music video, it shows how bold Cam is. Country music may have forgotten about her after 'Burning House', but she will always remain one of my A-Tier Artist. Edited December 3, 2020 by Mezik
Mezik Posted December 3, 2020 Author Posted December 3, 2020 (edited) Mezik's 'Best of 2020' - Music Video of the Year Nominee *For the best music video that was released between December 1st, 2019 and December 1st, 2020.* Dua Lipa - 'Physical' Dua Lipa did not play around this era with her visuals, and it makes me respect her so much more as an artist. This music video is easily the best work she released during the era, and displays the energy that is suppose to be felt when one listens to the song. The colours, the choreography, outfits, seductiveness, EVERYTHING is perfect about this music video. Edited December 3, 2020 by Mezik
Mezik Posted December 3, 2020 Author Posted December 3, 2020 (edited) Mezik's Best of 2020 - Music Video of the Year Nominee *For the best music video that was released between December 1st, 2019 and December 1st, 2020.* Megan thee Stallion (Feat. Young Thug) - 'Don't Stop' I love the over-the-top production, fashion and choreography in this video. Megan is another new artist that has come out and has a genuine passion for making sure their music videos are of the highest quality. This video appears heavily influenced by other female rap legends like Cardi B, Eve, Nicki Minaj and Missy Elliot which just makes it that much better. Edited December 3, 2020 by Mezik
Mezik Posted December 3, 2020 Author Posted December 3, 2020 (edited) Mezik's Best of 2020 - Music Video of the Year Nominee *For the best music video that was released between December 1st, 2019 and December 1st, 2020.* Taylor Swift - 'cardigan' While quite subdued to the rest of the nominees, this music video's visuals (hello forest/piano scene) are immaculate and showcase the emotions of sadness and heartbreak incredibly well. The scene when she is drowning in the ocean, clutching to the piano for her dear life, pretty much brought me to tears the first time because it's so hard when you feel like you're drowning and barely holding on to who you thought you knew. The cinematography enhances the entire video as well further emphasizing loss and hurt. Edited December 3, 2020 by Mezik
Kevin2803 Posted December 3, 2020 Posted December 3, 2020 Haven't watched "Don't Stop" yet, but should soon. Physical

(well I guess the Grammys can..) This music video was a brilliant introduction to the era, and truly highlighted what the album was going to be all about. The Weeknd plays insanity well, and played the role I think a lot of us wish we could do once? You know, just let loose and completely say '**** the consequences'. We'd be sent to jail if we tried this, but we can be thankful The Weeknd gives the listner a glimpse into this fantasty/altered reality. Edited December 3, 2020 by Mezik

mokitsu Posted December 3, 2020 Posted December 3, 2020 don't stop and the whole after hours era in general had incredible visuals. i love that Meg included some performers from Pose in it like she promised on the show
Blue Rose Posted December 3, 2020 Posted December 3, 2020 Dont Stop is a visual feast. Beyoncé videos were snubbed
Bubble Tea Posted December 3, 2020 Posted December 3, 2020 Oooh yeah both the "Physical" and "Cardigan" videos were well and truly gorgeous. Great picks!
Mezik Posted December 3, 2020 Author Posted December 3, 2020 Mezik's Best of 2020 - Collaboration of the Year Nominations *For the best collaboration between two unique artists that was released between December 1st, 2019 and December 1st, 2020.* Cardi B & Megan thee Stallion - 'WAP' Truthfully, how can we have a category recognizing the best collaborations of the year without making note of what was probably the biggest collaboration of the year? These two took the world by storm with the release of this sex anthem, and for good reason. These two woman know they're hot, they know they're pu$$y is fire, and they're proud of it. They deserve to be proud too, all too often in Hip-Hop it's males referring to women as their sexual property and its night to see the woman reverse the roles and show that they are just as much in power as their counterparts. Carrie Underwood & John Legend - 'Hallelujah' When the album came out, this was the track that caught my ears right away. These two former Best New Artist Grammy winners show the world why they won the accolade on this beautiful song that honestly feels like listening to the sound of angels at peace. They harmonize so beautifully together, and I think this song is one of Carrie's best vocal performances ever with how crisp and in control she is on the track. John's piano playing adds to the ethereal feeling of it all, and just compliments the track so well. Doja Cat (Feat. Gucci Mane) - 'Like That' Truthfully, I wish this song had the success of 'Say So'. I find this song just so fun and light hearted, and not meant to be taken too seriously. Gucci Mane adds a very welcomed feature on this track, and helps blend the pop perfection and urban blend to the song. Also, I prefer Doja's rap over her singing and her rap on this is hot, raunchy and filled with sex - and I am all about a good sex anthem! Megan thee Stallion (Feat. Beyoncé) - 'Savage' Another collaboration that took the world by storm. The solo version was solid enough, but when you pair up with the queen you know that there is going to be an added UNNNNNNF to it. Beyoncé does not disappoint with her contribution to the remix, and adds more sensuality to the track. I love hearing Beyoncé's almost rough timbre on the track, and the assertiveness is her conviction as well. Megan had a really good year, and I am thankful she takes her art seriously because we all get to benefit from the quality released! Taylor Swift & Bon Iver - 'exile' There is something so heartbreaking about this song but at the same time optimistic? You feel the pain of the individual who did not see the signs of the relationship ending, but you're also happy for the individual who is ready to move on because it seems they had given so many chances and they were not met? I don't know, but it works out in an eerie way. I never want to be the one in either predicament, but I feel like I can relate to the message of this song beyond just intimate relationships. Whether it be a close friend, a family member or just someone you counted on in life who you need to let go.. this song captures that feeling. But at the same time, I have also been the one ghosted and left behind thinking "where were the signs?". woooooo Tay Tay making me think and get all philosophical. Perhaps I need more wine when I listen this.
dreamofyou Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 dua, the weeknd & taylor all deserve the mv one
K$Ellie Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 WAP deserved VOTY over Don't Stop but both are good Physical also had a great video but I preferred BMH ahhhh WAP, exile and Like That for collab I much prefer solo Savage tbh
Mr. Loco Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 exile is by far the best collab, their voices fit perfect together, and you can feel all the pain as they sing it, it's just so beautiful!! Cardigan or Blinding lights deserve MV of the year
Ewan Chaos Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 WAP, Savage, or Exile for collab Need to check out Don't Stop or this Cam MV before I say which I'd want to win but I love the Physical and Blinding Lights videos, though they do have pre-COVID advantages.
