It was for Stevie, but with Zombie I was listening to it more because of SongPop and also because of the protests in June.

MLD's Best of 2020

40 - 31

40. 070 Shake - Guilty Conscience

This was a song I discovered because of ATRL Song Contest. @thecptz and Diarrhoea (I can't find your name cuz you're either dead, banned or changed your name) were good hosts of the game even if I got out twice pretty early. But that aside, I did discover some great songs through it. This is one of them. This is one of those songs you can listen to at night and just get lost in the vibe. So far this is the only song from her I've been able to get into. But I'm subscribed to her Youtube so that may change. We'll see. Good song that I recommend checking out.

39. Ava Max - Kings & Queens

Ok, did the US really have to be so damn late with this song? Unlike Sweet But Psycho, I was actually able to get into this song. The production is pretty good, it's a nice mix between pop rock and dance pop, and while the lyrics are very cliche (a common problem with Ava), it's still catchy music and Ava has good vocals on it anyway. It's short and sweet so it's a song I haven't gotten sick of THAT much. It's currently on its 37th week on my personal chart :deadbanana2: . I mainly blame the US giving it the push it deserved back in Spring and Summer for that but oh well. I'd say for now it's her best single to date.

38. Marshmello f. Demi Lovato - OK Not To Be OK

Ok, I forgot that Demi was the feature on this song. So this is her ACTUAL final appearance. If you've heard Marshmello's work, this is a typical song from him, but at least it provides a positive message with it, even if it is a bit basic. It's still a message needed and I'm not going to get mad at them for reaching out to those struggling with a generic dance EDM track. For Demi, this is basically the best song she put out this year which shows how much her solo work has been lacking. But for Marshmello, he still has two GREAT tracks coming up. So, yeah. Bottom line, I enjoyed this collab.

37. Britney Spears - Mood Ring

I treated this song as a single, simply because the song got a Youtube release and almost charted again had it not been for album bombs. And as someone that doesn't use much of Glory, this song should have 100% made the standard tracklisting. This song is really good. You actually can listen to this and chill out and Britney sounds great on here. Again, why was this not on the standard edition 4 years ago? Or even a proper single? I mean oh well, glad we got it. And I'm deeply sorry for Britney's current stuggles. She has all my support and my heart is with her (and the Army). #FreeBritney

36. Dua Lipa - Break My Heart

Dua has two entries left. This is one of them. This song got a pretty interesting video. And the song works well with the disco pop vibe. Basically, I think anyone here knows that this and DSN were everywhere this year. I never was able to fully get into to DSN so I'm glad I was able to get into BMH. But I got tired of the song quicker than the US did. Went recurrent on my Zero Charts September 19th, while it went recurrent in the US November 21 (and it's because of Hallucinate and Levitating actually placing on my charts). Anyways, this song has a 2x platinum certification from me (over 400 plays) and it pretty much earned its spot here. Congrats Dua.

35. Aly & AJ - Joan of Arc on the Dance Floor

The first of two entries from this duo. They topped my year-end last year with Don't Go Changing. So needless to say, they definitely got back into my good grace these last two years. This song is fire as well. Not a lot to really say other than that. Wish it got a better music video but I mean, 2020, we all know why they couldn't go all out.

34. The Weeknd - Blinding Lights

Ok let's be real, what is there to say with this song? We all know it. And to say I'm shocked that it became the biggest song of the year is an understatement. Pretty inescapable at this point. But yeah, this is The Weeknd's best single. Good vibing song (even if it went recurrent on my Zero Charts September 5th). Will definitely become a classic at this point.

33. Loviet - When It's Over

Ok, so Discord is another platform that I've really turned to both this year, as well as last year, but this year in particular it really became a place of escape for me. From trivia servers where I play with others to win money, to servers started by Youtubers like Pleasant Sims and Spectrum Pulse. I actually discovered this song because of a member of the latter Discord I mentioned. So I'll paraphrase what they told me when they recommended this song. If you enjoy songs like Run Away With Me, that has production that feels very anthemic and choruses that are very moody/vibey to go with it but still keep the beat going, then this is for you. This song is pretty catchy and I love it and her EP is only 3 songs so it's very easy to give her a listen. I didn't regret it. Peaked at #2 on my Zero Charts got over 20 weeks of peace on my charts before being forced off by Plastic Hearts's album bomb.

32. Sam Smith - Diamonds

I've said before that I can't stand Sam's ballads. Their songs that go more towards the chill dance pop vibe have worked better. But also, if they wanted to go for a more venomous dance pop vibe, this works too. This is by far their best song along with Dancing With a Stranger to me.

31. Halsey - you should be sad

Well at least Halsey got one Billboard year-end spot this year. Be Kind was done wrong in that regard. But anyways, you should be sad made it there and in all honesty, I think Halsey had a pretty decent year with me. I really enjoyed her album Manic, and she had some great collabs this year that WILL be on this year-end, plus other stuff. But anyways, this country pop pivot actually worked out well. I love the production on this and I love how this is a sequel of Without Me in a way, basically her Stronger to Without Me being the Baby One More Time. So yeah, glad it worked for her and this is only the start with Halsey on here.

Mood Ring is alright, wow how do you not use much of Glory??? OK Not to Be OK, cute. You should be sad  Guilty Conscience is nice, also Diarrhoea's new name is Black Lives Matter. Break My Heart, Joan of Arc, Blinding Lights, Diamonds - all great bops!!! :sats::sats::sats::sats:

Yeah Guilty Conscience is highkey the only song I cared about from 070's album, but I see a lot of potential in the good sis with a song like that.

Break My Heart, Blinding Lights, and Diamonds are also all great!

Blinding lights :heart2: nobody could've predicted how big this would be, I preffer In your eyes tho

MLD's Best of 2020

30 - 21

30. Cardi B & Megan Thee Stallion - WAP

Kudos to Cardi & Megan for topping the Hot 100 with such an explicit song. And an extremely fun one at that. A lot of quotable lines and they both deliver their verses with such presence and personality too. They shined equally on this track and let's just say...it says a LOT about the difference between Cardi & Nicki this year in how they got their #1s. Cardi: Collaborating with other women so that they can slay together. Nicki: Collaborating with sex offenders and rapists. And Cardi got her Year-End spot while Nicki technically didn't (Say So wasn't credited on the Year-End chart). Anyways, that's enough Nicki dragging for this post. Again, WAP still goes off and I had fun with this.

29. Machine Gun Kelly - Bloody Valentine

I did not expect MGK to switch genres this year completely. While I really enjoyed I Think I'm OKAY from last year (which despite being a year old still goes off), I wasn't sure if he would straight up go full force with the pop punk. Well, he did, and boy did I love it. This song (and its video) is just pure ****ing fun and fire and an absolute hot mess that works. This is the closest I've gotten to enjoying a pop rock/pop punk song in years and this song was the start of something pretty much unexpectedly awesome. And yes, MGK has more entries on this list.

28. Camila Cabello f. DaBaby - My Oh My

Yes, this is a Havana rehash. We been knew that. Doesn't mean the song isn't still catchy and enjoyable to listen to and for the first half of the year, it was for me, peaking at #1 on my Zero Charts the week of my birthday and staying on my chart until the start of July. In all honesty though, I'm not sure, since this is a rehash, if I'll still use this song as the years go on, but for 2020, I enjoyed this song, and a song that WILL stand the test of time with me that Camila created is still yet to come on here.

27. Juice Wrld & Marshmello - Come & Go

As much as I could not stand Juice Wrld's music, his death was still very unfortunate and never something I would have wished on anyone. What I did not expect though was for his best ever song to come after he was dead. Whatever made Juice decide to go in a more rap rock direction for this song was pure gold because as soon as that guitar comes in, oh my lord this song really took off. Marshmello's production is the usual but Juice Wrld rode it out and made it his own. I doubt I'll ever like another Juice Wrld song ever again, but for one moment, he ****ing shined. RIP Juice.

26. The Veronicas - Biting My Tongue

The Veronicas need to release a new album for crying out loud. All that 2016 momentum is gone and these random single releases aren't really going anywhere. Well, at least the songs are serving quality and sound good. I haven't enjoyed a song from them this much since You Ruin Me so that sticks out a lot. So yeah, we need a new album. Come on now

25. Rina Sawayama - XS

I got into this song VERY late...as in late October/early November. But oh well, I think Rina's music is having a sleeper status anyway so I'm fine with discovering it late. This song's production is so damn out there that it just simply works and Rina's delivery is also very unforgettable. Like, there's so much personality packed into this song that you just can't help but love it. Nice work Rina

24. Halsey - Experiment On Me

And here's the other Birds of Prey song that made the list. The majority of Halsey's best songs this year have a rock edge to them, but with this song, she knocked it out of the park. Bring Me the Horizon's production was extremely well done and intense, and Halsey brought her A game and stuck the landing. Outstanding song, I'm glad we got it, I hope with the rap rock trend going on that Interscope will allow her to do a heavier sounding album now. I still to this day believe Nightmare was ahead of its time given the songs that blew up this year and I'm hoping Halsey can have her moment again.

23. Ariana Grande - positions

You know, the funny thing about ATRL is that sometimes ATRLers can display their thoughts out on here and then they end up actually becoming reality. And the thing about positions is no exception. I remember reading on here, I believe last year that a member believed Ariana should wait until November 2020 to release new material. Well, late October is close enough. This MAY have had a shot at Top 20 had she released a bit earlier so the song could grow on me just a bit more. But simply put, we've gotten down to the wire and every song in the Top 25 maintained their position on my year-end in my multiple drafts, so positions was pretty much destined for 23. Anyways, the song is pretty much typical Ariana. It reminds me a bit of thank u, next's production but the song is catchy and enjoyable. So nothing much else to say about it other than Ariana owns it naturally.

22. Taylor Swift - cardigan

Taylor...talk about a queen. Literally giving us not one but TWO albums this year (one with singles that pretty much already have 2021 reserved) and both albums were pure quality. Now as far as the lead singles go, Cardigan is a pretty well-written song and Taylor sounds pretty on it. It's not my personal favorite on folklore though, but it's middle road and I can see why it got the single release. Anyways, I'm sad it didn't make Billboard's year-end list, but oh well, doesn't tarnish her legacy.

21. Tones And I - Dance Monkey

*Inb4 the gays on here throw meltdowns*. This song is overhated on here. Similar to how Fight Song was overhated in 2015. I mean, yeah, Tones And I has a very distinct voice, but so what? I like it, and this song is very catchy and unforgettable. She turned her life experiences into a song that has her set for life...so she got the last laugh. It's pretty clear that in the US she's going to be a one hit wonder, but whatever - at least she doesn't make vanilla garbage like Lewis Capaldi...who we can only hope fades into irrelevancy this upcoming year.

Positions and Carigans are my faves.

WAP :clap3: Barbz found still shaking

XS and Positions are also great!

Dance Monkey... you know I don't really like that song but you're kinda right in your write-up nnn she may have that divisive tone in her voice but someone like Lewis can't even ****ing sing and his songs aren't even interesting or fun. A disgrace to Scotland.
