JGibson Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 hole in the bottle + Be Like That + Still Have Me + React + Soldiers + The Man + Say Something I agree 100% regarding Fight Song. That song does NOT deserve the hate that it gets and I wonder some of that criticism for that song could be due to the song being closely tied to Hillary Clinton's 2016 run for President.
Post Malone Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 Say Something The Man also grew on me, still one of the worst on Lover though
potent Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 React was a cute bop for a week or two I didn't expect Kylie to be super high here, but she could've been like top 50 or something at least you placed it higher than Magic!
BlackoutZone Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 Say Something is so low, it's actually very bombastic to me
TheWayWeWere Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 Still Have Me is her best droplet this year tbh React was cute bop, but not something special Anne's music this year was awful
ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 9, 2020 ATRL Moderator Posted December 9, 2020 ambien is sort of the appeal of disco music sometimes, remember when people were listening to disco they were at clubs til like 6am on all sorts of drugs lmao. but yeah, say something isnt kylie's best even if its a bop
ATRL Moderator Legend E Posted December 10, 2020 ATRL Moderator Posted December 10, 2020 say something, sweetie... the man is SO bad
geodancefreak Posted December 10, 2020 Posted December 10, 2020 I see some amazing songs, like 911, Magic and Say Something, which should have been higher. But I'm still very curious to see what's coming up.
MusicLoverDude Posted December 11, 2020 Author Posted December 11, 2020 MLD's Best of 2020 70 - 61 70. Madison Beer - Baby Madison makes her final appearance on my year-end with her song Baby. A lot of people said she was giving Ariana vibes with her music video. Which, true, the music video does feel like something Ariana would do (but a lot more low-key). However, the production of this song and the feel of it is more pop Jhene Aiko in my opinion. Regardless, the song is fine, I wish the chorus wasn't so anti-climactic but at least the song is hard to forget. It's gonna lack replay value once this song falls off my countdown though or once we hit 2021. 69. Demi Lovato - Anyone So we're nearing Demi's exit on this year-end and here is her second to last entry. Of Demi's serious songs, this was the best one she released this year. And her Grammy Performance was very emotional. But I mean, I also don't know how often I'll revisit this. Demi has a LOT of good ballads in her discography and Sober is a song I seem to revisit more which is similar in topic to Anyone. But still, this is worth a listen. 68. Dua Lipa - Levitating This will be the first of 4 entries from Dua on this year-end. With this being the most recent single it makes sense that this was the first one to go. It's a nice song but I'm still having it grow on me this is as high as I can place it. This song has a good vibe and is pretty catchy, so we'll see how well it does for the remainder of its run with my countdowns. 67. Lady Gaga & Blackpink - Sour Candy One of three collabs on Chromatica, this one is probably the weakest of the 3. The production is a nice vibe. But there were times this year where I felt like I was getting bored of the song relatively quickly. It kind of drags on despite being only 2 and a half minutes. But still, when I'm in the right mood, it goes off. 66. Samantha Jade - Back 2 Back Alright, so this is Samantha's second and final entry. I think she only released this to lift spirits up with everything going on this year. And yeah, the song serves its purpose. It's probably Samantha's best song in a couple years, but I've genuinely been very underwhelmed with her music the past two years and I'm hoping 2021 brings better quality stuff from her. 65. Austin Mahone - Summer Love Austin, sweetie, you didn't need to scam people on OnlyFans just to promote this. The song itself is actually nice and it's great to listen to at night. It's not a "summer'" song because Austin is talking about a past relationship I believe so it's a nostalgic feeling that can work in both fall and winter. So...the stupid OnlyFans mess he got himself into aside, this song is pretty good. Check it out. 64. Dami Im - Marching On Dami's second and final entry on my list is a song dedicated to her mother (the second of three songs that are dedicated to parents on this list). Dami has been independent for a year or so now, and I mentioned last year with her song Crying Underwater (#4 on my 2019 year-end, great song, CHECK IT OUT) that her music quality is a LOT better now than it was with Sony Music Australia. This is no exception. It's not incredible, but it's a beautiful tribute to her Mom. It'll lift your spirit up and you can feel Dami's love through her singing. It's heartwarming and worth a listen. I can only hope we get an album from her in 2021. 63. Doja Cat - Boss Bitch Ugh...I genuinely try to give everyone a chance and if I don't like the songs, I don't like the songs. Doja Cat is definitely a good example of that. Let's just say if I can compile my Worst of list for 2020 within the next week, she'll likely have one or two songs on it. At the moment, Boss Bitch is actually the only song from her that I actually like. Mainly because the production actually really complements the intensity of her rapping and the chorus goes off really hard. I guess the power of the Birds of Prey soundtrack worked in her favor. BUT...it's not the best song from that soundtrack. And we will be getting to that song MUCH later ;) 62. Selena Gomez - Rare Note to Selena: work on ya cooking skill my honey bun. Ain't nobody wants to know you burn toast in the toaster like a dumb Sim with no cooking Skill setting their food on fire. Anyways, that dumbass lyric aside, this song is ok, but nothing too special. The video is more colorful than the song itself and I think that there were other songs from Rare that were better. This isn't Selena's end on my year-end though. I've got one more trick up my sleeve. 61. Dua Lipa - Hallucinate Two Dua songs out in one update, yep. Hallucinate had a full 20 weeks or more to grow on me and the song is decent. BUT it does feel a bit too slow for the type of uptempo it is so at times it felt like it dragged on between choruses and verses. But that being said, still a good song, still a good choice from Future Nostalgia, and still worth the listens.
potent Posted December 11, 2020 Posted December 11, 2020 Levitating is a bop, I wish it had been higher than Hallucinate but both are good Sour Candy a cute bop, Anyone didn't make my list but is still cute
Post Malone Posted December 11, 2020 Posted December 11, 2020 Levitating and Hallucinate bops and top 3 on FN Rare was a cultural reset, a statement, a lifestyle etc Sour Candy a bop wbk
nasa Posted December 11, 2020 Posted December 11, 2020 dua's entries also LOVE seeing Anyone in your list, that's THE song
gagacasanova Posted December 11, 2020 Posted December 11, 2020 Sour Candy, Levitating and Rare. The slut drop bops
Remmy Posted December 11, 2020 Posted December 11, 2020 "At the moment, Boss Bitch is actually the only song from her that I actually like." I feel the exact same way! Nothing else has interested me. I can also relate to Sour Candy being the weakest Chromatica collab, but it's still a bop. Anyone is cute, possibly her best droplet of the year? That's not saying much though. Rare Levitating and Hallucinate are both bops You put them in the correct order, too!
Mr. Blue_Shirt Posted December 11, 2020 Posted December 11, 2020 Oh wow I thought Baby would go further ddd. Honestly is one of my favorite song from her and i don't really care that much about Ariana comparasion as long as she makes it work and release this, why not? Levitating, Sour Candy, Boss Bitch & Hallucinate get their acclaim whew
ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 12, 2020 ATRL Moderator Posted December 12, 2020 tbh, baby by madison doesnt really sound ariana except for one part of the song, the chorus gives me like early 00s ashanti/pink/britney era music. sour candy is actuallymy fave collab on chromatica the other two are pretty good though. for some reason i always spam album cuts when the album comes out so i actually got "sick" of levitating more than other tracks first lol. BUT, i still like it a lot, its just that one other track imo has better staying value than it.
ATRL Moderator Legend E Posted December 12, 2020 ATRL Moderator Posted December 12, 2020 hallucinate masterpiece! sour candy is awful xox
