Honestly, so many artists used 'Boyfriend" as their song titles and it becomes so generic now, Selena just late to the party :rip: But yes i agree that Souvenir should be the next single. Rare had so many missed oppertunities i can't dd

Madison will sweep with "Baby", i can feel it :gaycat6:

Smile + my future + the other girl :worship:

Fine with all the HMs missing the main list. It's so wild how Dance Like Nobody's Watching came and went so quickly... Iggy really wasted a Tinashe collab like that :thing: Let's Be Friends & Smile are cute, but not worth putting on repeat or anything. Boyfriend & my future  34+35 is one of my least favorites from Positions, really doesn't do much for me. Ready to see the rest! :foxaylove:

MLD's Best of 2020

90 - 81

90. Selena Gomez - Dance Again

Since this song got a music video I basically gave it the single treatment, so it had a decent run on both of my countdowns before retiring/falling off. The song is cute, with better replay value than Boyfriend, but it came and went with me so I don't revisit it often. Still a better cut from Rare though

89. Ellie Goulding - Power

Well, I'm glad Ellie finally put that album out. Her team/Interscope has been extremely idiotic this year and last. Between the forced collabs and the delays, I did not think we were gonna get an album this year, let alone any new solo songs. But we got this, and while it's nowhere near one of Ellie's best songs, this was a step in the right direction. I hope Interscope realizes that the pandering to Top 40 radio isn't going to work unless the song is either halfway decent (Close To Me) or contains a relevant artist (Hate Me)...but even then that latter song only hit 20 weeks on the chart because of TikTok and Juice Wrld's death. So yeah, a bit of a rant but I'm sure Ellie stans will get it. Power is still a decent song though. Hopefully as Ellie gets older her music can transition more into a mix between HAC and euphoria.

88. Liam Payne f. Cheat Codes - Live Forever

Ok so Liam is not the sharpest tool in the shed. But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't enjoying the songs he put out to an extent. This song with Cheat Codes is pretty much the only one however I checked out from that album he released last year. And yeah, it's basic and Liam doesn't sound very interested in singing it. But the song is a decent enough bop that I was able to overlook that during the first five months of the year. Liam actually has one more entry on this list so be on the look out for that.

87. Ed Sheeran, Camila Cabello & Cardi B - South of the Border

I'm from Southern California so personally a song like this is not too bad of a song, even in the winter months since the worst we get is rain. The song is cute, it does its thing. Cardi's verse is kind of cringe looking back but it's still harmless and the song is one of the few collabs from that project I even use. So Ed did something right here. Plus Cardi & Camila will be WAY further on this year's year-end list anyway so no harm no foul with it making my year-end at this slot.

86. Lady Gaga - 911

Yeah, sorry monsters. Gaga is losing an entry a bit early but she still has 3 entries left and one in particular won't be showing up for awhile. Apparently 911 is a bit of a fan favorite, which I can see why. The vocal effects are fine, the production is fine and futuristic. For me, it's the chorus that lacked and I wish it was more memorable. Otherwise this may have gotten higher. Still, it's not a bad song.

85. Kesha - Little Bit of Love

Kinda surprised Kesha released a video for this and gave it the single treatment. But I mean, I'm not complaining. Song is cute, the piano is catchy and Kesha sounds great as usual. It needed to be longer though so that it wouldn't have just come and gone so easily for me. But oh well, I enjoyed her album this year which had some better tracks on it.

84. Perfume Genius - On the Floor

This will probably be the biggest surprise for my list this year as it's the one that comes the most out of left field for those that know how my taste is. Basically, I'm one of Spectrum Pulse's fans (I'm even one of his patrons and in his Discord server) and earlier this year he put out a solo review on PG's most recent album. I decided to go ahead and give it a shot and I added several songs from that album to my library, On the Floor being one of them. This song has a bit of a nice groove to it which seems to be more appealing than other songs from him. But yeah, I enjoyed this and I'm happy to have it here. Definitely worth a listen if you haven't checked it out.

83. Kylie Minogue - Magic

This seems to be a fan favorite among Kylie fans. I can see why as the song is catchy. I just haven't fully caught on with it yet which is why it ranks this low. Still a nice song however.

82. Afrojack f. Ally Brooke - All Night

Ok so, why is it that two of the 5H girls have EDM collabs with the same name? :skull: - well, who knows, but I remember the Steve/Lauren song being a banger. This, it kind of is as well, but it's not a song I'll revisit often. Yeah it's a song I can jam to in warmer months but it's pretty forgettable otherwise. But considering Ally Brooke has TRASH solo material, this is her best song hands down.

81. Dami Im - Paper Dragon

Between 2012 and 2014 I was really into watching reality TV competitions - US, UK and Australia. Dami Im was the winner of 2013's X Factor Australia and she went on to participate in 2016's Eurovision Song Contest with her song Sound of Silence, which was my #1 on my 2016 year-end (and still is). Dami is someone I've been a fan of for 7 years now and she's made the Top 10 on my year-end twice - Crying Underwater ranked at #4 on my 2019 year-end. She's currently independent now and the material she is currently making is better than what she released with Sony. This song is one of them, although not as powerful as it could be. It's self-empowerment 100% but I know what Dami can do and this song deserved a bigger climax than what it got. Still a good song though and Dami will make one more appearance before the list is over.

South Of The Border + Power + 911 :jamming:

Not really a fan of Magic but the chorus got stuck in my head out of nowhere last week or so. Dance Again & Little Bit of Love are good :alexz3: Power + 911 :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

Gaga's 2020 was a bit dissapointing tbh, but 911 was a cute girl :gaycat5:

Power :flame:

On the Floor is my favorite pick for Perfume Genius. Magic is cute but when the Kylizards (or whatever they're called) say it's better/would have been better a lead single than Say Something I HAVE to laugh.

MLD's Best of 2020

80 - 71

80. Taylor Swift - The Man

Can I just say that I'm still annoyed as hell that Taylor pushed THIS over Cruel Summer, Cornelia Street, Paper Rings, Miss Americana or even The Archer? Like...it was always in the weaker half of the album for me, even if it is catchy. It got a decent music video I guess but again...you pushed THIS over the majority of the album that was better. Yeah sure, say ME! is childish and YNTCD is gaybait, but at least they were a lot catchier and memorable than this. Either way, THANKFULLY she served quality later in the year to make up for this.

79. Anne-Marie - Birthday

So this is a halfway decent bop. All it needed was better production and a more anthemic chorus and this song could have landed a lot higher on the list. As it is, it's cute but she has yet to top 2002 as far as catchy solo singles go.

78. Kylie Minogue - Say Something

Considering this has only spent 15 weeks in my Top 50 Zero Charts, and it peaked at #27 I believe, it was only a matter of time before Kylie was gonna bow out. This song is nice. I like the atmosphere of it all. But I mean, this is more ambient than memorable and it's not a track I'll revisit super often. Still, for a late night indulge, its worth the listen.

77. Rachel Platten - Soldiers

I still to this day will stand by Rachel and her cheesy empowerment songs. Fight Song to this day got WAY too much overhate on ATRL, only rivalled by an artist you will see a LOT later on in this list (or two, depending on how you look at things). But anyways, this song is very low-key, a piano ballad with some strings in the background and a bit of a build-up, but overall, it serves its purpose of letting us know that we'll fall, but we won't break. It's 2020 so I'll take any genuine self empowerment that I can get. If you hated Fight Song, this may not be your thing, but if you're open to giving Rachel a chance now that she is clearly NOT a threat to the main pop girls and is simply just releasing music when she wants to, give this a listen. It might lift your spirits.

76. Jake Miller - Reset

This guy is more known for being hot than for his music. Which I get, his music isn't outstanding for anything. I haven't really been wowed by anything he released in the past year compared to 2013 to 2018 where I felt like he improved tremendously over time. I think at the moment he's kind of plateaued and this song is pretty much a straight forward track a long term fan would expect from Jake. But the song is only 2 minutes long, the song is catchy enough and Jake sounds good enough on it for it to pass with me, so if you need some good **** boy pop, here's a good recommendation.

75. The Pussycat Dolls - React

I'm honestly surprised we got new music from PCD of all things this year. I had pretty much moved on from caring as outside of Buttons, Don't Cha, I Hate This Part and Nicole's Don't Hold Your Breath, my girl group nostalgia leaned more with Danity Kane and Girlicious over the last several years. But I mean, as someone that was a teen in the late 2000s and enjoyed their Doll Domination era before they imploded on themselves, I wasn't gonna say no to trying out their new song. And...yeah...pretty standard PCD track with a pretty standard PCD music video. But hey, they gave us a solid good pop song and at least they are in a position where everyone can hopefully benefit financially this time around. I wish them all the best of luck and hopefully we can get an album or EP in 2021 from them if we are lucky.

74. Tate McRae - you broke me first

This song took me awhile to get into. I've heard so many other snippets from this girl and she sounds like a dollar store Billie Eilish with sinus issues due to those annoying nasal vocals on the majority of her other songs. So it doesn't surprise me that this is the song that is getting worldwide success. It's the least nasal of her songs and therefore the most enjoyable one. The dark production actually kind of saves her here. I don't see myself liking other songs by her (and Billie is by all accounts 100% superior than her), but I'll enjoy this song while it lasts.

73. Demi Lovato - Still Have Me

Honestly speaking, as much as I love Demi, this year I genuinely just stopped caring about her releases. She REALLY butchered her shot at a huge year after getting that Grammies and Super Bowl promo (which we will get more into later). So yeah...by the time she releases something like this...which actually has good vocals and she sounds the best she has sounded all year, but the song doesn't really go anywhere and like I said, I genuinely stopped caring. I just want a new album from her at this point and I just want her team to not be so ****ing stupid. More venom will be coming later on.

72. Kelsea Ballerini - hole in the bottle

Country had a very good year on the Hot 100. Over 11 songs made the Billboard Year-end list to be specific, the most in several years. Women in country also had a good year - as we will see in a few updates as a few of the crossover hits made my year-end list. So, it sucks that Kelsea still doesn't have a Top 40 hit outside of Peter Pan. I guess if any song from kelsea truly deserved it, it would be homecoming queen? and it would be this song. This song is extremely catchy, extremely witty and just extremely enjoyable all around. I got into it pretty late in the year so this was as high as I felt it could fairly chart, but still, check it out as you'll thoroughly enjoy it.

71. Kane Brown, Swae Lee & Khalid - Be Like That

And speaking of country artists crossing over, here we have a pop crossover from Kane Brown that actually works pretty well. Swae Lee & Khalid sound pretty good here and Kane's pop crossover flow sounds great as well. I don't really care about Kane's country stuff but I mean, if the occasional pop crossovers like this continue, I'll be happy to give more of his stuff a listen.

I liked other songs u lister but I had to comment cause he's non exIstant on ATRL but my favorite Jake work is actually post 2018 too. Silver Lining and Based on A True Story was good.

I also like the he released often. Like he has an EP or LP every 6-8 months and I think he self makes his music too. Production and everything.

Still Have Me :michael: React was cute. The Man :eddie: "Can I just say that I'm still annoyed as hell that Taylor pushed THIS over Cruel Summer" We can all relate, it's truly bizarre. And I approve of the other choices as well aside from MA&THP.
