MusicLoverDude Posted November 30, 2020 Posted November 30, 2020 (edited) MLD's Best of 2020 The year where music saved our souls Hi everyone. Well, I think we all can agree that this year was the definition of literal hell. For me, it was hell in more ways than one. In September, I had to put down one of my dogs - he was 7 and he had a spindle cell mass on his head that was causing him too much discomfort. It was one thing about 2020 that will sadden me the most as I have so far been VERY lucky to have avoided getting sick from the coronavirus (since i actually wear my mask when going out and social distance). That being said though, the music this year has ironically been some of the best songs released in years for some artists. Also some decent albums, and some good Youtube stuff. Anyways, here is what I can confirm will be getting ranked this year. Top 100 Songs of 2020 - this list will MOSTLY be based on points taken from both my daily countdown in YTT and my weekly zero charts, with some execution placing for songs that I got into late that deserve a slot in this year's year-end list. Favorite Youtubers of 2020 - Youtube has been one of my main consumptions of media for the last couple years. I don't watch high profile youtubers with millions of followers, but this list with comprise of accounts from the music critic, Sims community, true crime community, and more this year. Favorite Albums of 2020 - this list will come out later as I need to listen to a few albums to confirm my final rankings, but this will be a Top 10 with some honorable mentions. This will begin either tomorrow or Tuesday, basically dependent on when I finalize my year-end list as this announcement for year-end came earlier than I thought it would Anyways, this will start soon. MusicLoverDude Posted November 30, 2020 Author Posted November 30, 2020 One more list that I'll add: Top Throwbacks of 2020 - with me being home all the time this balanced out the playtime of 2020 songs, so here are the throwback songs that I kept on repeat the most in 2020.

JGibson Posted November 30, 2020 Posted November 30, 2020 I am so revved up for these lists and the new President that America elected.
MusicLoverDude Posted December 2, 2020 Author Posted December 2, 2020 MLD's Best of 2020 Bubbling Under Bubbling Under: The Following Songs fell just short of making the Top 100. Here they are 110. Iggy Azalea f. Tinashe - Dance Like Nobody's Watching 109. BLACKPINK - How You Like That 108. Megan Thee Stallion - Girls In the Hood 107. Jhene Aiko - Pu$$y Fairy (OTW) [I have a LOT of respect for her this year but I genuinely just couldn't get into this song enough to make my Top 100) 106. Lil Baby - The Bigger Picture (this is the only song of his I actually like and if he actually made more serious songs like this I might have more respect for him. 99% of the time though he is obnoxious) 105. Bazzi - I Don't Think I'm Okay 104. Charlie Puth - Girlfriend 103. Demi Lovato - Commander In Chief 102. Bazzi - Crazy 101. BTS - Dynamite ========================================================================= 100 - 91 will be posted tomorrow.
Rotunda Posted December 2, 2020 Posted December 2, 2020 I like DLNW and Girls in the Hood I'm a Demi stan but couldn't pretend to be into Commander in Chief
potent Posted December 3, 2020 Posted December 3, 2020 The Bigger Picture is okay I guess but I would be more open to like DaBaby than Lil Baby, Lil Baby has annoying voice Commander in Chief is cute
ATRL Moderator Legend E Posted December 3, 2020 ATRL Moderator Posted December 3, 2020 idc for anything so good riddance
Into The Void Posted December 3, 2020 Posted December 3, 2020 Bazzis Crazy is good and I like Girlfriend. I heard Iggys song like once and forgot it existed til now
Ewan Chaos Posted December 3, 2020 Posted December 3, 2020 Girls in the Hood is FUN, though not my favorite Megan single this year either
Mr. Blue_Shirt Posted December 3, 2020 Posted December 3, 2020 Honestly i'm shocked that Commander In Chief is in anyone's list even in bubbling under list nn That song is god-awful even if the song itself has a good intention behind it

MusicLoverDude Posted December 4, 2020 Author Posted December 4, 2020 MLD's Best of 2020 100 - 91 Before I begin, I'm just going to say that in order for me to smoothly post this, I'm going to be posting a Spotify playlist and update it as I update the list instead of using Youtube links. My laptop is 4 years old now so I have to keep it around as long as I can. So lesser tabs helps me right now. So with that said, here we go. 100. Selena Gomez - Boyfriend Honestly, what's with people related to Justin Bieber's camp using this song title ? We had Ariana use it last year and we had Selena use it this year. Now in all honesty, this song was the weakest track off of the Rare deluxe. I don't mind it but I won't be using it much outside of this year - I'm more likely to use Souvenir and She over this. Not surprised it flopped but it's still a low-key bop that you can still dispose of and it won't hurt you. 99. Madison Beer - Selfish Let's be real here, Life Support should've been released after this song did somewhat ok in Europe. But of course, this is Epic we are talking about and they never learn from their mistakes. That being said, of the three songs she released this year, this was probably my least favorite. The song is kind of nice, but it also gets boring pretty quick and I feel like Madison has better songs on this type of topic (I'm talking about you Dead). 98. Kelsea Ballerini & Halsey - the other girl Kelsea is someone I've always been fine with listening to. I enjoyed Peter Pan and Legends. And Halsey is an artist that I've continued to grow a liking towards. So this collab should have been pure fire, and here I am wishing that the song had more of a spark to it. The chorus is a bit of a let down, even though the lyrics are actually pretty good and Kelsea/Halsey teaming up instead of hating each other for being the other woman is a nice sentiment. So, this was good, but it could have been a lot better. 97. Carly Rae Jepsen - Let's Be Friends I wish Carly had an actual official single release this year or at least a good music video. But alas, this was the only song that seemed to have any type of single release. And, it's Carly, so her quirky personality and her quirky songwriting pretty much make the song enjoyable. If it had been anyone else I doubt it would have even made the list. And yeah, Dedicated Side B has WAY better tracks than this. But hey, it's Carly, she really can't do anything wrong because she's always trying new things and is having fun and is just a nice breathe of fresh air in the industry. If I can compile a competent Best Albums list I can talk about Dedicated Side B later. 96. Anne-Marie - Her Idk why ATRL hates this girl so much. She's pretty harmless and she's a bisexual chaunteuse with pretty blonde hair (or pink). She doesn't make amazing music or anything but she's at least making catchy stuff or at least giving us options for our pop (and this year was hell so I'd say I'd like to be inclusive to almost everyone). So, this song dedicated to her Mom was actually really nice and cute. She's not Whitney/Mariah when it comes to ballads but I think you can tell her heart was in the right place and some of the lyrics hit a little hard for me (such as the lyric of her treating her Mom poorly...boy is that relatable to me). Strangely enough though she wasn't the only person with a song dedicated to a parent this year to make the list, so her song was the weakest link of the 3 songs that deal with that topic. Still a nice song though. 95. Katy Perry - Smile Honestly Katy deserves to be this low for the title track. Yeah, the song is somewhat catchy but you can tell Katy is bored as hell on the verses and even the chorus so it's not as believable. Hell, the song basically ripped off Be Good To Me by Ashley Tisdale from 2007 (one of my favorite songs from that year for the record) and that song is way better. But I mean, the song is still a bit of a jam if you can get into it and the music video was ok considering the circumstances. 94. Billie Eilish - my future Billie's singles this year have been pretty hit or miss. This one was more of a miss. Lyrically I like the content of her wanting to look forward to the future of getting to know herself. We need positivity like that right now. The production however takes awhile to get going so it's why this song is ranking this low. But we will see more from Billie later. 93. Madison Beer - Good In Goodbye Yep, poor Madison is already losing two songs. This one was a bit catchier than Selfish, but the song's cheesy lyrics also got me annoyed pretty quickly. And again, she has other songs in this vain that are better like Dead. She kind of set the bar high with that and most of her output isn't living up to what she served on As She Pleases. So yeah, cute song but I won't be visiting this song often after this year 92. Samantha Jade - In the Morning Alright so, anyone on here knows I'm a pretty big Samantha Jade fan. Or stan even. But being a stan doesn't mean I'm not blind to weaker songs. This is one of them. It's basically a Side To Side dollar store version but without an interesting chorus. Samantha sounds nice as usual but the song lacks any sort of life and personality to really enjoy outside of...maybe a playlist shuffle on a warm day (which you get in Southern California often). She does have one more song on the year-end though so stay-tuned for that. 91. Ariana Grande - 34 + 35 Since I had a full month to listen to the song, I figured that was enough time for this song to land a year-end position, and it has room to potentially grow and make the 2021 list as well. The song is fine, pretty funny lyrics and Ariana is having a blast singing it. Also, the 6ixnine drag by putting this right after Shut Up on the tracklisting was clever and brilliant. This deserved a better video though Spotify playlist will be coming soon.
Into The Void Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 Boyfriend is my fave on the deluxe to be honest The other girl is a cute boy too
Ewan Chaos Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 Um Let's Be Friends is actually super amazing, so I'm really glad to see you give it a bit of a spotlight. Tired of the hate for it!
