ANYWAY. i think there are a couple duds on rina's album that hamper it but the limb bizkit meets britney style is very good and its what ppl will remember the album for anyway. speaking of weak sayama song... tokyo love hotel? but ok, dynasty is there too so ill accept it. nice kylie picks, they're bops. good troye pick too, very artistic and stuff. Tokyo Love Hotel is the best on the album 23 hours ago, BlackoutZone said: So happy to see BMH and Dynasty so high Adore You is definitely a nice song, I like it much more than WS, but my Fine Line #1 is Golden Sawayama is a great album, but to me it has multiple fillers including Bad Friend Interesting.. how well did this hold up btw? 22 hours ago, Enigmanotta said: Another almost perfect update; Adore You doesn't deserve to be above most of these. Psycho Posted December 15, 2020 Author Posted December 15, 2020 (edited) #1. Ava Max - Heaven & Hell I refuse to let y'all clown the tragic album cover so I'm using the cover that her team scrapped Favorites: Naked, Torn, Born to the Night ?ESSAY ALERT? No surprises here, this was easily my favorite, most anticipated and most played album not only of 2020 but of all time. Ava is the first artist I really stanned from the beginning. The day was September 4, 2018 and after discovering her through ATRL payola and Discord friends, I listened to her 3 songs she had on her Spotify and decided to stan (ironically at first). I watched as Sweet but Psycho (a song I genuinely love and which hasn't aged after nearly 400 plays and 2 years) started to chart in Scandinavia, then the rest of Europe, and soon it exploded into a huge worldwide smash. Then I suffered, along with the rest of the Maxipads, through the dark era of So Am I, the VMAs outfit (amongst many other terrible outfits), questionable performances and live vocals, Ava lying about her age, multiple album/single delays and thinking she was going to remain a one hit wonder (at least in the US). But I stuck with her and eventually she released Kings & Queens (which came out days before quarantine), another amazing global solo pure pop hit. And finally, after more delays due to COVID-19 and things going on in the world, she finally released her debut album and it was everything. It's not that Heaven & Hell is "better" than the other albums in my list, but it's the album that means the most to me; in fact, the main reason I stan Ava is because her music reminds me of the music that I grew up listening to. I've invested a lot of time and energy over the past 2 years into a pop star who will never know me, but it has been worth it for the friends I've made on ATRL and Discord (y'all know who you are ), and for all the laughter and all the bopping I've done. So, sorry for the corny essay about a generic pop star and her generic pop album, but at the end of the day I love it. Edited December 15, 2020 by Psycho
Psycho Posted December 15, 2020 Author Posted December 15, 2020 #10. Jessie Ware - Spotlight A masterpiece of an album opener. Not only is the production immaculate but the lyrics and hooks are amazing as well #9. Dua Lipa - Levitating FYI I'm referring to the solo version of this song, not the DaBaby remix But wow, what an amazing dance song that deservedly became a single and is currently on the road to smashing Levitating stans won, Hallucinate stans lost! #8. Ava Max - Kings & Queens If this list was based on play count, this would easily be my #1 song of 2020. But it's not, because it's not even top 3 on the album in my opinion, but was still a well deserved SMASH that I've constantly been streaming since March. Truly a highlight of the year #7. Miley Cyrus - Midnight Sky She scalped me when this came out, I was obsessed The Edge of Seventeen sample was perfectly used, and the song is just a pop classic #6. Ava Max - Born to the Night Words cannot describe how much I love this song... she really elevated the sample, the song is so euphoric and uplifting. The only problem is that it's TOO DAMN SHORT! It should have had 30 more seconds for the final chorus and then it would truly be a masterpiece #5. The Weeknd - After Hours This is a 6 minute long masterpiece, a musical journey. The production is outstanding, and I'm glad it got it's moment before the album was released. The BEST male song of 2020 did that #4. Dua Lipa - Physical This was my SOTY for many months (feels like it came out so long ago!). An undeniable pop masterpiece that will never age, and her best song I fear #3. Jessie Ware - Save A Kiss I just adore this song, it reminds me of Honey by Robyn which is fantastic. She truly did thaT (the MV is a tragic quarantine'd mess tho nnn) #2. Kylie Minogue - Say Something Another pop masterpiece with a tragic MV I actually didn't expect this song to be this high on my list but she deserves it. Miss Kylie™️ came through with a quarantine ANTHEM. The opening lyrics "we're a million miles apart in a thousand ways" were so timely and really epitomize the 2020 experience we all went through. The final chorus is absolutely stunning and goosebumps-inducing #1. Ava Max - Naked Just as I put Ava's album at #1, I put her song at #1 We first found out about this song in 2018 just after Sweet but Psycho came out, and when I saw Bonnie McKee in the credits I knew we were in for something good. But after nearly 2 years of waiting, this song surpassed my expectations. It's 100% pure uncut pop perfection, and in my opinion is nearly in the same league as Dancing On My Own, Run Away With Me and of course Teenage Dream, which is Naked's sister Cirkut truly snapped on the production on this one, and of course Ava slayed the vocals as always. She truly topped herself with this one and I feel sorry for the people who haven't heard or don't STAN this classic
