Verse, hook, pre chorus etc. are all good 22 hours ago, TheWayWeWere said: THE TASTE GTK and How I'm Feeling Now (I'll pretend I never read HIFN drags tho ) After Hours 22 hours ago, Blue Rose said: Flo Milli After Hours is amazing ofc 22 hours ago, Kevin2803 said: I love JoJo's album kinda expected more from the Tinashe collab tho After Hours 21 hours ago, Sunderland 4ever said: After Hours is alright. 21 hours ago, Mark Rih said: Period. HIFN and After Hours are great choices. Not you putting Little Nokia above LOYL though... 9 hours ago, Ewan Chaos said: Not you lowkey hating HIFN and still putting it on your list nnn Yeah Abel finally struck gold with After Hours huh. I hope he doesn't fall into Starboy/the previous album territory where half of the album only is good. Alex Posted December 17, 2020 Author Posted December 17, 2020 Quote Grimes' Miss Anthropocene was a return to the darker sound Grimes fans enjoyed prior to "Art Angels", which I also enjoy, however MA definitely set the mood for the rest of the year. Some tracks aged worse than others though but most did hold up. Quote I was obsessed with this album when it first dropped. I didn't care for EG.0 / the singles that preceded the album but this was the first Ellie album I listened to in its entirety (don't worry I went back and listened to Delirium and Hayclon after) and I was shocked at how excellent the album tracks were compared to the singles. Power alone made me get into the album ahhh that song deserved better. Anyway she needs to keep doing more of this. Quote Victoria Monet's part one of her debut album is her best body of work to date. Full of amazing R&B and the production is absolutely fantastic. Unfortunately the project is TOO short and I would have prefered if she just released the entire project when it was complete instead of the compilation route but, this was great and if it's a taste of what is to come, I am fully ready to stan. Quote I discovered this project months after its release, and I am so glad I did because this there are no bad songs on this project. The range she possesses... I fear she's ready to slay. I also discovered she signed to 4AD in May so I'm excited to see her next steps despite her being in the industry for a couple of years. Quote This is a great, fun pop album and introduction to Ava Max. There's no bad songs besides Take You To Hell which is too close to discomfort to Tones and I's monkey song. Despite the "concept" being a lackluster effort the visuals really pulled it all together (despite the cover art)
Blue Rose Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 Miss Anthropocene and Jaguar are great projects
dreamofyou Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 heaven & hell, taste not the take you to hell slander though
TheWayWeWere Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 MA never overgrows Art Angels excellence, but this is such a strong record! Jaguar is great very excited about her next steps Brightest Blue
ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 17, 2020 ATRL Moderator Posted December 17, 2020 jaguar and miss aotdpocene are my fave here. tbh, art angels is prob top 3 albums ever for me, and i think a lot of people dont realize how good it is, which led to them trashing MA more than it deserved. yeah, im listening to tkay today.
Pink Matter Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 After Hours and Jaguar I agrih with your comment on AH. I always imagined he could go down the more electronic lane ala High for This or Odd Look. AH still hits those spots for me but I do hope he goes down the electronic lane for his next album! I didn't care too much for Flo Milli at first but one of her songs ended up on a pre-made AM playlist (Not Friendly) and I liked it more than I remembered! I might give her another chance
Mark Rih Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 Jaguar Victoria made some points also H&H is generic pop done right
BlackoutZone Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 Both Miss Anthropocene and Brightest Blue are on my list and I can't deny H&H has highlights too
Ewan Chaos Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 Oops sjkshdskhd Starboy is just SO LONG to me. Grimes & Victoria me faves from this list. I kinda wish Victoria had just waited a bit longer and made it an actual full album instead of a weird in-between EP/mini-album/project/who tf knows. But it doesn't discredit how good that project IS!
Enigmanotta Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 Heaven & Hell above Brightest Blue and Miss Anthropocene is... a choice, but all 3 deserve to be there, I guess.
KasioKas Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 H&H above Jaguar... Imagine a world like that..
1998tweety Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 Heaven & Hell is excellent, pop perfection
Lazuli Posted December 18, 2020 Posted December 18, 2020 miss anthropocene is cute some tracks definitely didn't age as well yeah brightest blue thank god the album didn't turn out to be the disaster that all of its singles (except power) were indicating it to be

ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 18, 2020 ATRL Moderator Posted December 18, 2020 oh i did listen to tkay! so, my thoughts are, that its all over the place but in a good way. theres like a song for every mood and song, needless to say i like the more eclectic/electronic bops. song with jpeg is prob my fave. but the more slow/chill songs surpassed my expectations. she's talented.
Alex Posted December 18, 2020 Author Posted December 18, 2020 FINALE! Quote Such a good album, I am so glad I discovered this set of talent because they're NEXT and they're going to sweep with more time. I'm ready to follow them throughout the rest of their career because they're just pure talent. Quote Amazing album which taps in to multiple genres in almost every song and does it RIGHT. Primarily pop, the influences from this album is insane. Quote Her best album, I said it. The mix of pop/rock and slowtempo tracks is absolutely divine, truly a right footing after listening to She Is Miley Cyrus era tracks. Quote Ahhh a lot of people dislike this album but I really can't relate. Such a good album and I think it might beat TUN and take second place if it ages well. I use most of it. Quote Bree Runway came and DOMINATED with her debut mixtape this year. She's absolutely my #1 best new artist I discovered this year and I will stay rooting for her because she has it ALL. From visuals, to versatility, to vision, she's going to fight to become a future popstar and I fear she won't stop until she gets that global domination she deserves because the star power she holds... insane! Every single from this mixtape are back to back to back to back to back classics and this era was so fun to sit back and watch her career slowly but surely blossom. Bree Runway is coming. Quote Chilombo is one of my favourite R&B projects of the year, for the mass amount of songs Jhene gave on the deluxe (and even on the standard) there were maybe 2 songs I didn't use. Truly a beautiful project. Quote Kali Uchis' bilingual album took me by surprise at how good it was. The singles really put the album in a different spotlight than it should have because I was expecting generic reggaeton and got classic Kali, just in Spanish. I don't know what the hell she's saying for the most part but even then its still such a solid project I will listen to anything this girl puts out because her voice is just makes you melt. Quote I have been waiting for a Raye album for a couple years now and once she chucked this "mini-album" out I was relieved the excellent singles she released from 2019-2020 finally found themselves a home and a fantastic project to house them in. On my first initial listen I wasn't feeling the slowtempo songs but eventuall they just clicked and I can appreciate what she was doing. The whole concept of Euphoric Sad Songs, starting with a breakup and going through the stages of grief until you arrive at the end and recognize your worth is such a beautifully crafted concept. She really gave EDM bangers, pure pop, stripped down ballads and R&B tinged influence all over the project and her songwriting establishes a unique quality not a lot of singers have. You can tell she WROTE these songs, she's a songwriter and the ability to relate to the lyrics she presents can touch deep. Fantastic rollercoaster of emotions for a 9 track 30 minute project. Quote Dua Lipa's Future Nostalgia is definitely the pioneer of pop albums this year. Absolute killer era despite the pandemic halting it initially. All the songs are great, all the production is crisp and tight and all the singles are just RIGHT. I appreciate her giving us a big era and making this album get the recognition it deserves because the songs are just brilliant. Can't wait for Side B to come and recement this era as one of the best pop eras of this decade because she's putting in the work. AOTY: Spoiler Quote At the top spot I have Alina Baraz's "It Was Divine'. This project is so meaningful to me, the production, the transitions, the lyricism, the cohesiveness throughout, THE TRANSITIONS!!!. Every song was meant to be there, even the stand alone single "Trust" which didn't even make the album (god knows why) is EXCELLENT too. Every featured artist was a complement to their respective song. She took her TIME with this to make sure it was perfected and ready for her fans to hear and she did not disappoint. This is how you make an R&B album.
dreamofyou Posted December 18, 2020 Posted December 18, 2020 FN, sawayama, positions, plastic hearts yup taste i think i'm gonna have to listen to ur number 1
Blue Rose Posted December 18, 2020 Posted December 18, 2020 Amazing and flawless Top10 except for positions Alina is so underrated.
ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 18, 2020 ATRL Moderator Posted December 18, 2020 never heard that album well, your top 10 still has lots of future classics like fn, 2000, sawayama, positions, etc. glad you put kali's spanish album this high. i feel like it went by kinda forgotten by the homos here.
Ewan Chaos Posted December 18, 2020 Posted December 18, 2020 Ungodly Hour is OK, but it was better than their first album so I have hope that they'll just keep improving and improving with time. Sawayama, Bree, Kali, Ari, and Dua, also greats. I would have placed Kali higher on my list if the album had come out earlier I think. It's really good. But I prefer Isolation.
TheWayWeWere Posted December 18, 2020 Posted December 18, 2020 Ungodly Hour is so stunning, such a great follow-up to their debut! Sawyama is one of the most impressive debuts these years. Plastic Hearts is low-key my favorite Miley's record. Positions Finally I'm seeing Chilombo it's one of my favorite records as well ! RAYE making top 3 her best project did THAT FN should've been #1
