However, it's not that unusual for the biggest and strongest #1 songs to keep very strong #2 songs that would otherwise hit #1 any other time in the year. All About That Bass and Shake It Off are perfect examples of that, as each would've hit 11-12 weeks at #1 had they hadn't had to compete against each other. And as I have already mentioned, Dark Horse, Happy, and All Of Me were all extremely strong songs. Happy just happened to have a few more points during its 10 weeks at #1.

Taylor Swift pretty much single-handedly prevented All About That Bass from becoming a 14-15 week #1. Remember, after Shake It Off fell off, Blank Space was there to block AATB for another 3-4 weeks!

Yiisssss hope he breaks Mariah Carey's record :duca:

could someone kindly explain why payola at this stage for SOY won't help? because i thought all spins though might not be created equally but are still counted equally? Or there's something like a bell curve for AI? after a certain number like 200m, it won't add as much score?

A smash hit that got away :ace:

The fact that it lasted that long without a video nor a single performance :toofunny2: It even outlasted "Dangerous Woman", which is considered by ATRL the epitome of longevity :rip:

I'm so sad that It Ain't Me will get a video when it already peak. Like, this week would be perfect along with a discount (even tho I don't like discounting songs just for the sake of a higher peak) but :/

"Both" is #1 on R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay. Drake's 18525th #1 there. :skull:

can Despacito be contender for next #1 in near future?

:rip: the accusation. Radios only play the song if people are willing to listen to it and is not switching to other stations when it's played. You can't payola when it's already over 200M.

200M people aren't listening to any single record in the US alone.

200M AI doesn't mean 200M individual people. It could be 20M people hearing the song 10 times, 50M hearing it 4 times, or other variations of the sort.

Also those 200million are the AI for seven days, not for a single day. :)

Yep exactly. Which if Ed's AI is 250M-ish, thats around 35M AI per day, so the idea of 35M people hearing the song once a day or 17M hearing the song twice a day, etc. is definitely realistic, given how many people listen to the radio in the US.

I do wish it would start to fall to make way for Bruno and others, but a smash is a smash. Ed did that :clap3:

But he is though. His song has dominated 2017. Globally nobodies touching him right now.

The Locals can try it.

Well it does.

But it's not 200m unique people.

that's exactly what i meant lol

I was hoping 74k sales in this climate for Gaga would be enough for a top 20 debut along with her streams and small radio support so far.

But I guess top 40 is better than nothing.

I was hoping her fanbase would be bigger and more interested after the Super Bowl performance and she could've done 100k+ again, even in a shorter sales week period because it was a another "comeback" single.

Born This Way did >400k in the same time period 6 years ago.
