Beyonce and Alicia Keys never were. Ashanti at one point had 3 Top 10 singles on the Hot 100, tying The Beatles and would have beat them for that record if she was credited as a performer on Jennifer Lopez's Ain't It Funny. Ashanti's debut album opened with +500,000 and was Gold on the spot. Edited April 28, 2020 by Brinny Baby

Its pretty ignorant to think people have heard a song of someone just because they're you're fave. Lets use common sense. She’s not my fave but he songs were unavoidable as said. If you gonna be on a music forum you need to know your music. Anyways I don’t care about this so good day.

Ashanti was never bigger than about. You can look at the stats.

Ashanti can't touch that level of success.

Ashanti’s 1st week sales in 2002 were stronger than 2001’s SIM but Alicia sold more in the long run: 6M in the US/12M WW. Beyoncé debuted her first solo album in 2003 with sales not as strong as Ashanti’s in 2002 but ended up selling more in the long run : and killing her career or momentum. And if we want to stick with 2002, Survivor by DC is also bigger than any Ashanti’s album ever. ‘I don’t know where this comes from, she was never bigger than them.

They never went head-to-head because by the time Ashanti dropped her first solo hit, Alicia Keys was already finishing up her debut era, so no. Ashanti had a big first week and a huge #1, but her album only went 3x Platinum and won a single Grammy. Also, the only songs Beyoncé dropped in 2002 was "Work It Out" and "'03 Bonnie & Clyde." When Beyoncé dropped her debut solo album, it was a wrap for Ashanti. Like I said, she was never bigger than either one of them.
