Take me home - I've never heard the original version actually, only the (superior) Sophie Ellis-Baxter cover. It's good, sleek and sexy. Love it

Good times - It's a standard disco song. Nothing bad about it (except those sexisté lyrics hihi), but it's not very attention grabbing or memorable.

I want your love - I was gonna say this is the best CHIC song of the three but it's SIX minutes? And i'm already tired of it after one. Edit!

Le Freak - A classic, but again extremely repetitive and overlong :rip:

Sailing - the best you could come up with was a boring adult contemporary ballad? not even sung by a woman? Well i found a new last spot

Ain't no mountain - :alexz: I prefer the original by Marvin Gaye but this is soooooo excellent as well. Love the spoken word bits and the six minute version is even better because of the buildup, but I understand why you didn't send it.

The boss - :alexz: [2] love the brass elements in this, it elevates what would be a standard disco song to a whole another level. Her vocals shine through as well.

Bad girls - We love sex worker representantion :clap3: to be honest Bad Girls and Hot Stuff grew off me after i listened through her catalogue, but i love the storytelling in this one.

Hot stuff - see above, but it's my least favorite of the Donna songs because there's not much to it lyrically and it runs too long.

Last dance - whew now this is an absolute masterpiece :clap3: the slow, dramatic intro, the switchup, her going absolutely bonkers with her vocals towards the end, it's so perfect. I kinda wish you would've used the 5 minutes version because it's so much better, this one feels rushed.

September - whew this is the only song that feels correct as my #1. I have so many great memories associated with this, like when i was outed in high school because of it. Gets me in a good mood everytime !!
I wanna be your lover - it's nice. Nothing that makes me jump off my seat but it'll probably he high. Ummm why did he stop singing :rip: Yeah these 3 minutes of instrumental weren't it. Sorry but it'll be tanked

Knock me off my feet - I like this! It's a slow song done right, which has been missing from this round. He has a great voice and the instrumental is nice too.

Superstition - This is at the same level as the previous song to be honest, both are high to me. But I think I prefer Knock me off my feet, this kinda drags on.

Close to you - it's nice, but a bit melodramatic. Both Glee and Frank ocean outsold

Best of love - the best song i didn't know this round :clap3: great vocals, outstanding production. a jam

Spoiler

Take Me Home

this is a very cute bop tbh

Good Times

not a big fan of this tbh, lowkey terrible

I Want Your Love

i was gonna say this wasn't as bad as Good Times but then i saw the length... this is way too unwarrantedly long for such a repetitive, boring song.

issa no

Le Freak

maybe the best Chic song? I think? It's like trying to rank worse to worser tbh

Sailing

this was really pretty, i like it

Ain't No Mountain High Enough

a classic i believe, yup yup

The Boss

yup, this is a bop, i like it

Bad Girls

very middle of the round for me, not the best or worst song this round, just there

Hot Stuff

ok the superior Donna entry this round, issa bop

Last Dance

i really like this as well, cute sing

September

another classic, yup

I Wanna Be Your Lover

another middle of the road song for me, it's cute but there are much better this round (and much worse, kii)

Knocks Me Off My Feet

i love this, his voice >>>>

Superstition

the previous song outsold, this is still cute though

(They Long To Be) Close To You

very pretty, tending a bit to boring, but pretty nonetheless

Best Of My Love

very middle-ish of the road cute-ish i guess

Cher - Take Me Home

This was used well in Larry Levan's Live at the Paradise Garage disco mix. On its own however, it''s just okay. I'm not surprised at Cher jumping on the disco bandwagon during this time.

Chic - Good Times

Very overplayed and they have better songs than this but with that said, I can't really fault it much.

Chic - I Want Your Love

Classic production.

Chic - Le Freak

 N28SXuw.gif

Christopher Cross - Sailing

This had potential to be good but I can't really connect with the vocals here.

Diana Ross - Ain't No Mountain High Enough

HmmLet's just say Marvin and Tammi outsold.

Diana Ross - The Boss

 Pretty iffy to me.

Donna Summer - Bad Girls

It's good but I wish the chorus was better.

Donna Summer - Hot Stuff

This is more like it. Great song.

Donna Summer - Last Dance

The slow intro did a trick but luckily it picked up the pace later on. Not my favorite Donna entry here however.

Earth, Wind & Fire - September

They don't call it a classic for no reason

TFOJdSk.gif

Prince - I Wanna Be Your Lover

!!!!!! I have to stan. (I'm basing this on the single edit version which probably should've been used as the basis for judging).

Stevie Wonder - Knocks Me Off My Feet

I'm glad Stevie Wonder got submitted here. I like this.

Stevie Wonder - Superstition

Yes Yes Yes.

The Carpenters - (They Long to Be) Close to You

This is nice. Always thought Karen Carpenter had one of the softest/sweetest voices around.

The Emotions - Best of My Love

A tune. :jamming:

Chic - Good Times: it’s alright [2] a classic tho

Chic - I Want Your Love: boring, the way it draggggssss, a classic tho [2]

Chic - Le Freak: a classic, that doesn’t get boring like the others here so far, although it does get a bit repetitive by the end

Christopher Cross - Sailing: love this song so much, definitely a contender for #1

Diana Ross - Ain't No Mountain High Enough: overrated and what is this edit? it’s so boring

Diana Ross - The Boss: better than the last, still doesn’t have a defining quality for me tho

Donna Summer - Bad Girls: ugh I love this song, definitely up there for me, maybe even #1

Donna Summer - Hot Stuff: ugh I love this song [2] her songs in comparison to the others here are the reason why she was the queen of disco

Donna Summer - Last Dance: my least favourite Donna song here but still good

Earth, Wind & Fire - September: a bona fide classique! (Taylor outsold!)

Prince - I Wanna Be Your Lover: first 3 minutes a classic, then it just keeps going and going and going

Stevie Wonder - Knocks Me Off My Feet: it’s cute but it didn’t “knock me off my feet” :eli:

Stevie Wonder - Superstition: a classic! (Raven outsold!)

Spoiler

Take Me Home

Not a fan of this. It's very cheesy, and not in a good way.

Good Times

Really annoying song, probably because of how much I've heard it in my life. :rip: It's not horrible, but it's realllllllllllly annoying to listen to in full.

I Want Your Love

It's okay. Kinda goes on without saying much.

Le Freak

This is cute.

Sailing

Really boring. It's just..... sailing along in adult comtemporary-ness.

Ain't No Mountain High Enough

This is really boring, she should've just let Marvin and Tammi have their song.

The Boss

WHEWWWWW. Drag race classic, and '70s classic. I love this.

Bad Girls

Whew. Classics only.

Hot Stuff

This one is alright, not super interesting to me.

Last Dance

It's alright.

September

Another song that I have heard COUNTLESS times. It's a bonafide classic, but I am sick of it.

I Wanna Be Your Lover

Yes ma'am.

Knocks Me Off My Feet

One of my favorite Stevie songs. I'm ****ing crying.

Superstition

Not one of my favorite Stevie songs. :grump: it's still good tho.

(They Long to Be) Close to You

Pretty. Not interesting at all though.

Best of My Love

Plssss I set myself up with this round. All of these black classics that I'm tired of hearing. This one isn't super annoying, though, so that's good.

Take Me Home: Kind of fun, but I feel like it isn't quite a standout.

Good Times: Solid entry for this week

I Want Your Love: A better Chic entry imo.

Le Freak: Very much a classic!  I think it's my second favourite of the three Chic entries.

Sailing: Interesting choice.  I think it was pleasant but I don't know how it will stack.

Aint No Mountain High Enough: Very much a classic, smart choice

The Boss: Fun song I wasn't actually familiar with!

Bad Girls: Oh you came to win huh

Hot Stuff: Oh you came to win huh [2]

Last Dance: Definitely a classic, but I don't necessarily like it as much as the other two Donna songs - still really good though.

Side comment: I get that the songs are incredibly long which is why they weren't submitted,  but I really think Four Seasons of Love is one of her best albums

September: Definitely a classic, definitely stood the test of time.

I Wanna Be Your Lover: Can't go wrong with Prince!

Knocks Me Off My Feet: Beautiful!

Superstition: This is fine, but one of those older songs I don't actually like that much.

Close To You: I like this song maybe!

Best of My Love: lsjkafsd this is a BOP.  My favourite new discovery of the round

Cher - Take Me Home

I never really realized that Cher has a super soulful voice, which is pretty nice!

Chic - Good Times

A classic, we dig. :jamming:

Chic - I Want Your Love

Not as good as Good Times.

Chic - Le Freak

Better than Good Times. :jamming:

Christopher Cross - Sailing

tad boring for me, sorry.

Diana Ross - Ain't No Mountain High Enough

A CLASSIC THAT WE LOVE AND APPRECIATE, YES.

Diana Ross - The Boss

This is cute, but Ain't No Mountain >>> lives.

Donna Summer - Bad Girls

The weakest of the Donna Summer choices.

Donna Summer - Hot Stuff

GONNA HAVE SOME LOOOOOOOOOOVE TONIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT. :alexz:

Donna Summer - Last Dance

The OG Last Dance before Dua Lipa also had her Last Dance.

Earth, Wind & Fire - September

IF YOU DO NOT LIKE THIS, WHO THE HELL ARE YOU.

Prince - I Wanna Be Your Lover

I definitely like 80s Prince more, BUT I still love this!

Stevie Wonder - Knocks Me Off My Feet

Oh...there was better Stevie. So much better Stevie.

Stevie Wonder - Superstition

PRAISE, PRAISE, PRAISE, PRAISE.

The Carpenters - (They Long to Be) Close to You

I hate that I remember this as the song that Lazaro Arbos butchered on American Idol, but that's how I remember it as. The hilarity from Mariah Carey trying to teach him too was a gift. With the song...it's meh.

The Emotions - Best of My Love

Catchy. As. Hell. Great pick.

@Navyofbadgals did you actually quit? :skull:
