To change the mood a bit, I decided to close the playlist off with 2 more fun, catchy songs. Pour It Up reflects the abundance of your success. To close off the playlist, I decided to use 7 Rings because this song even though Ariana is 'bragging' about her money, it is also a self love song showing that you can be independent and provide for yourself as a successful optimistic person. My explanation for choosing "Rhythm Nation" by Janet Jackson is because i feel as if its more of a song that portrays the message and influence to unite people to go against social injustice with lyrics such as "People of the world unite, Strength in numbers we can get it right, One time, We are a part of the rhythm nation" i think it relates well with the planets influences. As for Micheal Jackson- "They Don't Care About us" i believe its a very blunt song with its meaning and shows what i interpret a rebellion would be a protest for ones rights and he is making it clear that he is tired of being treated unfairly and is calling out injustice, with lyrics such as "I am the victim of police brutality, now i'm tired of bein' the victim of hate". For my third pick "Where is the Love" by The Black Eyed Peas, i think makes a really good connection to these influences as well, being that its also a song that's informing all people that we need to stop the hate that the world has been overcome with, " I think they all distracted by the drama and Attracted to the trauma, mamma (Where's the love) I think they don't understand the concept or The meaning of karma (Where's the love)" this not only represents someone spreading awareness but doing so in a dark time which is what i interpreted upheaval into. As for "Born This Way" by gaga i feel as though this song is the anthem for people to love who they are, and she is making that clear like when she repeatedly mentions "Don't hide yourself in regret, just love yourself and you're set. i'm on the right track baby, i was born this way" this song to me refers back to just standing up for what you believe and rebelling against the norm, as well as maybe being a bit eccentric which i interpreted as feeling odd or more so someone who may feel like they don't fit in. I mentioned how these influences also compare to that of a persons life, and i wanted to explain how i see these as basically stages in life we may all go through and eventually learn and grow from it. Such as how some people may have their rebellious stages in life, where you can't take no for an answer or you rather not feel restricted in anyway, like how some people may continue to fight for what they believe in and stand for. Also as time goes by we often find ourselves trying to figure out who we are but forget that no matter how different we may feel, we are who we are and that's perfectly fine. Now for the last of the influences i think at a certain time in life many people may feel loneliness or may experience some dark times, in which we shall overcome with time. Pluto listens to it every morning, he doesn't planet now, he makes universal moves. Kanye West - Power Kanye wrote this song because he is obsessed with himself and thinks very highly of himself. This song is just Pluto ego trippin. No one planet should have all that power, they're so shook by him they had to take away his status. SZA, The Weeknd, Travis Scott - Power is Power This song was made for Game of Thrones and is based off a Queen Cersei quote, who is the most powerful baddest bitch of all time. The chorus of this song really speaks to Pluto and his obsession with the sun and not being a planet anymore. All the songs fit an early 2010s punk/pop/rock theme (yes beyonce too) with the main idea of most songs being about cheating/breakups. I chose this genre because many songs with rock-like production include themes of aggression, desire, and lots of action which is what Mars symbolizes. There are three characters named Alena, Dussy, and Eri that are part of a big cheating scandal. A youtube playlist is down below for all 4 of the songs I used. Girlfriend - Avril Lavigne (Desire) My playlist begins with Girlfriend by Avril where Alena is jealous of Eri's relationship with Dussymob. Alena has a huge desire to get Dussymob to start dating her instead of dating Erikills. Alena started crushing on Dussy ever since she met him at the club and Dussy started giving Alena looks that made her think that Dussy was into her. This causes Alena to paint Dussy to be madly in love with Alena, even though he's in a relationship with Dussy. Alena believes that she'll be able to get Dussy to cheat and the whole song explains her desire to make it happen. "You're so fine, I want you mine, you're so delicious / I think about you all the time, you're so addictive" Misery Business - Paramore (Action) This song explains Alena actually getting Dussy to cheat on Eri with her. Alena says how it feels so good to take away Dussy from Eri. It's been eight months since Alena desired to be with Dussy and now that Eri is gone for two weeks, sparks starting flying between Alena and Dussy. Eri then finds out that Dussy is cheating on him and he's truly out to get Alena but Alena just evilly smiles at the thought of it. Alena brags about stealing Eri's man but starts to feel bad for bragging so much, since it wasn't her intention in the first place to just brag about it. "I watched his wildest dreams come true / Not one of them involving you / Just watch my wildest dreams come true / none of them involving..." Don't Hurt Yourself - Beyonce (Aggression) After Eri spits on Alena's face, Dussy and Eri drive back home together. Eri is VERY angry and starts going off on Dussy saying that he isn't just like anybody other girl on the streets. Eri says that Dussy could EASILY be replaced by any other man that Eri wants. Eri knows that nobody else can be like him and that Dussy will never find somebody like him. The song ends at a cliffhanger where the audience doesn't know if Eri is going to leave Duss yor give him another chance. This makes Dussy very upset and it's shown through this song. The first verse explains the action of Eri throwing their diamond rings into the ocean after their divorce. In the chorus, there's a desire of Dussy hoping that Eri will somehow come back. The end of the story basically goes back to the start of the story where somebody is begging to be in a relationship with somebody else. However instead of Alena begging to be with Dussy, Dussy is begging to be back with his ex, Eri. The story basically shows all three phases of cheating and how it will always go back to the first step of desire, either at the start or the end. "I can't live with myself / As I'm climbing in your window to get to your bed / And I'll be what you need / You can call me anything"
