Bad Romance is already a good song, but the bridge is incredible and without it, I wonder if the song would've been as iconic as it is now good choice! Not Like The Movies - Explosions - an ok choice, I don't think it brings the song down, so there's that, but it doesn't exactly stand out to me as compared to the rest of the song. I like the short break at the end of the bridge and right before the chorus hits, and i think that helps it to that nice climax point, but I also don't think it's the strongest choice here. Guero - Big Girls Don't Cry - I don't know.. I think the bridge here is one of the weaker parts of the song, and just because a verse is slow, and a chorus is more explosive doesn't make it a perfect match imo I'm gonna pass on this one tbqh, it's not awful, but it's def not the best work here Anthem - Teen Idle - The bridge doesn't really build up to the climax of the song at all imo. I don't think this was the right choice for this round, thus far, all songs before this have some sort of build up to it but in this one the bridge just feels.. seperate from the song itself. Gateau - Lover - the bridge in this is chorus, the way every line here hits different, as well as being one of the better lyrical pieces of that album, makes this standout nicely. Feel like Lover without it would've just been your run-of-the-mill song, but with the bridge it's so much better. Good choice imo Disruptive - Hero - this is good! I love how it's more explosive than the chorus preceding it, but not as out there as the chorus after it. I also like how the bridge here is not just ''that one slow part of the song'', rather it helps with an explosive end. Good choice! Alena - Come Back.. Be Here - Does it help the song? To an extent yes, but it also goes by so fast and doesn't make a huge impression. I've seen worse here, but I don't think this is the best bridge ever by any means, and even in the song itself it could've been perfected imo Touch It - I'm Your Baby Tonight - it's not bad, but imo, the song would've survived just as well without it. It's a nice bridge, don't get me wrong, but it doesn't add a whole lot to the song imo Dussymob - Because of You - honestly it feels like the slower part of the chorus after the bridge does the job that the bridge should be doing. It helps it feel more complete and come to an explosive end. I think lyrically it adds something, but overall, I don't think the bridge itself is completely necessary here to make the song a complete package. Clueless - Listen - this does what a bridge is supposed to do imo, it helps bridge the song before it with its climax. The subtle shifts in instrumental as well as the vocal delivery feels like it's hinting on something big (which is coming in terms of the chorus after it). Also like how a lot of the song is this over the top vocal delivery, and yet she still manages to make the bridge stand out this is a good choice imo Krazii - Learn To Let Go - I actually really like this. The whole song tells more about what happened and how she was before it, and the bridge feels like a look back on herself, with it ending with just looking forward (like the whole song kinda preaches), besides that the delivery itself also helps build up to the final moments of the song. Think without the bridge, the song would've been much different, so the bridge most definitely helps here! Boys - Cinderella - I mean the song without the bridge would've been different, because (esp the first parts) it stands out among the song. But I felt like towards the end it missed something in terms of delivery. There are worse picks out there, but I feel like this pick isn't the best one either. Like does the bridge really help the song all that much? I'm leaning towards no sorry x Staryu - Let It Go - I think that the bridge helps here, it feels like her final moments before actually ''letting it go'' like the song preaches, but I also feel like delivery wise the bridge could've been stronger. The song needs a bridge, but it also deserves a better one in terms of instrumental and delivery not bad tho! 1. Bad Romance 2. Learn To Let Go 3. Hero 4. Listen 5. Lover 6. Explosions 7. The first section provides one of the song's most quotable lines ("I'm a free bitch, baby!") before sprouting into an unhinged frenzy that sends the track into its strong finish. 2 - "Cinderella": Gloriously campy and highly memorable. It's totally different from everything else here and I love it. 3 - "I'm Your Baby Tonight": Something about that constrained melody has always held me back from fully loving this song, but Whitney goes OFF on the bridge. That double-time, tongue-twister delivery is definitely the highlight of the track. 4 - "Let It Go": Not really a Frozen fan, but Ms. Elsa was low-key a bad bitch with this one. "The past is in the paaaaaaast!!!" You can't help but want to sing along. 5 - "Learn to Let Go": Changes things up perhaps more than any other bridge submitted, to the point of almost being out of place in the song. But that stilted cadence is truly striking. And it certainly resets the track, so that I'm refreshed and eager for the chorus again. 6 - "Lover": Stuffed with catchy hooks, from the staccato rhythm to the exaggerated "loverrrr" at the end of each stanza. 7 - "Big Girls Don't Cry (Personal)": That key change on "Yes, you can hold my hand if you want to"? She did that! 8 - "Teen Idle": A bit understated, but nicely captures the song's mix of self-deprecating humor and autobiographical pain. 9 - "Hero": This is one of Mariah's worst #1 hits, but at least she sort of breaks free of the oppressive schmaltz on the bridge with some powerful gospel vocals. 10 - "Because of You": Definitely an emotional peak for the track, but that production just feels like all too much now. I'm more moved by Kelly reeling it back in for the next few lines after. 11 - "Explosions": I like how she undercuts expectations here. Though she pushes to the edge vocally for a moment, the real climax is the brief stillness before the final chorus. 12 - "Come Back...Be Here": Those stirring orchestral strings get almost immediately overshadowed by the stripped-down chorus that follows. The bridge is good, but unfortunately, it doesn't shine in the way it could. 13 - "Listen": The power ballad formula of so many of these submissions is starting to bore me and this is the most indistinct one yet. Here are the rankings after the first 3 judges: 1. EriKills: Lady Gaga - Bad Romance - 3.7 2. Touch It: Whitney Houston - I'm Your Baby Tonight - 4.3 3. Krazii: Kesha - Learn to Let Go - 4.7 3. Explosions This has always been a hauntingly beautiful ballad and it's always been a - pun intended - explosion of a song. I, however, don't think that the bridge really changes anything that the song already is. It's just kinda thrown into the song and doesn't really build up the way I hoped it would. It falls short compared to the way it should build to an explosive ending for a song like this. Big Girls Don't Cry I love this song so much girl, whew. The bridge is a nice touch to the song, a nice add on to an already nice song. It really builds up to the explosion that is the chorus. It's great. Teen Idle I already don't really care for this song, it's kinda meh for me. But the bridge is... For lack of better terms, weird. It doesn't really do anything besides be really weird and sound super haunting. I get that's the point, I guess, but it doesn't add anything to the song. Lover WHEEEEEEEW, her only good single this era (The Man don't count, it ain't been released fr fr yet). It's bridge is very pretty and very beautiful, it really builds up to the finality that is THAT chorus. I really like the way she sings it as well, Miss Swift did what she does best in this song: perfect bridge to a final chorus that STOMPS. Hero I'm not crying, you're crying. The bridge is perfect for this type of progression; it isn't this slow ass quiet part that leads to an explosion but rather an explosive bridge that leads to a BIG EXPLOSION. We stan Miss Carey. Come Back... Be Here The queen of bridges strikes again. The way it's kinda bopping along, slows down completely then STOMPS on my neck. I wasn't ready for it. It's no lover, but it's a really strong entry. Loves it. I'm Your Baby Tonight AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, my wig is gone. That is all. That is the critique. You stomped. You slayed. Whitney obliterated my existence. You know that explosion gif with the skeleton and the buildings collapsing? That's me. That's me with Whitney here. Because of You Lemme get the grammy picture because it deserves that. This song has a very special place in my heart and that bridge was so ****ing perfect. The slow build up to the high ass note, WHEW. And the soft lil chorus before it grabs you by your throat and slams you into the concrete. I just... Explosion gif [2] Listen How to have a Good Bridge 101. Period. Teaching the girls how it's done, yes, we stan Bey. The build up to the end from the bridge is very pretty, love ha vocals. She snapped. Learn to Let Go I never really cared for this song, but actually listening-listening to it, I admire it a lot more than I did before. The bridge is a nice build up to the climax that is the final chorus. It has this big like fast ticking feel to where it just blows up like a bomb. I like it. Cinderella But the bridge is... For lack of better terms, weird [2]. It doesn't really add anything and would've been more than likely better without it. Seems like the bridge got added to extend the song's length because it's a relatively good song without the bridge. Let It Go i am SCREAMING at this being sent lejdlsjfskdfg. I HATE Frozen... WITH A PASSION, but I can't deny that Miss Elsa snapped with her delivery and bridge and all that jazz. It was a great choice! 1. Bad Romance 2. Listen 3. Lover 4. I'm Your Baby Tonight 5. Hero 6. But this bridge could’ve functioned as a prechorus Explosion: This was extremely lack luster and uneventful. Big Girls Don’t Cry: Wow, WHEW I do love bridges that are different from the song tempo. Teen idle: Is this a demo track or something? IDK it felt uncompleted and empty. Lover: For me this one was just meh. It didn’t pull at me or wasn’t as climatic as I like my bridges Hero: NOW THIS IS A BRIDGE. The vocal climax and belting. whew' Come Back Be Here: This probably worse than than Lover but its not bad I’m Your Baby Tonight: The vocals, the lyrics and the instrumental breakdown. A moment and a bridge Because Of You: YES SIR. Her lower tones truly shined, I loved the way it went from lower tones to the staple belt in bridges. Listen: Oh wow I’m lowkey shook. But she started off so strong that it you really couldn’t tell there was a climax happening Learn To Let Go: I’m actually surprised at this bridge and the instrumental . And I’m taken by that belt she did. We see you Ke$ha Cinderella: I cant even hear her. I do appreciate the fact it switched up to beat during the chorus but I had to turn my volume up to like 90% Let It Go: Very emotionally and vocally driven track but its lowkey cheesy lyrically. Tbh though...I despise the speaking part. I get why it's there, but I think the latter part of the bridge is infinitely better. Explosions I'm of two minds when it comes to the bridge here: on one hand, I really think the bridge is quite solid and shows various emotions, especially while building and still cascading. My main thing though is that I'm not sure if it stands out compared to the rest of the song, which is part of what we wanted too. Big Girls Don't Cry I can appreciate the key change and the storytelling aspect, but I think the chorus, overall, outshines. Teen Idle This was a misfire, Anthem, sorry. The chorus is infinitely better, and while it's nice that the bridge is understated, I'm not sure if that really helps with memorability or recall. Lover I think this is a very, very similar approach to Big Girls Don't Cry, but it works better for me here. The storytelling really lends itself to the memorability and build to the final chorus. Hero Honestly, I've really only heard the song in talent shows, and they usually cut most of the bridge...but they really shouldn't. Also, I'm just a sucker for a good vocal, so this did it for me. Come Back...Be Here This is very a Taylor Swift bridge if I've ever seen one. I prefer Lover, but this isn't bad either. I do think that the stripped down part after the chorus kinda just destroys the build the bridge just created though; however, I'm not sure if I'm Your Baby Tonight I really, really like the bridge, but I think the chorus kinda is just more memorable here...yet the bridge is still memorable. I'm torn. Because of You Honestly, if there was no bridge, I don't think the song would be as memorable. The softness and the build to the peak and then descension works. Listen Honestly, this is f***ing amazing. Literally, so simple yet so perfect and just so brilliant. Part of me wishes it was longer, but you know what, I can f***ing deal. Learn to Let Go Kesha has some GOOD bridges, and this is one of them. While it's a change of pace from the actual song, it's not jarring, which thank god. Good choice. Cinderella Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, why boys why!!!!!!!!!! This was not it. At all. There's absolutely no build up, at all. Let It Go Idina Menzel has some NUTS vocals here. Like NUTS. Anyways, this is pretty solid. "The past is in the past" really helps the bridge and is THE line other than the actual chorus, so props. 1. Listen 2. Hero 3. Because of You 4. Lover 5. I'm Your Baby Tonight 6. Bad Romance (it really was that second part that propelled it so high) 7. Let It Go 8. Learn to Let Go 9. Come Back...Be Here 10. Explosions 11. Big Girls Don't Cry 12. Teen Idle 13. Cinderella Element 46 minutes ago, Element said: Bad Romance I find the start of the bridge to be a bit dull, but the second half is a strong buildup into the final chorus, especially with the mix of French and English. Explosions Smart sending an Ellie song with an Ellie stan on the panel!! Legitimately though, this is probably Ellie's best and most beautiful bridge? I even sent it in Ultimate TABS as an entry because of the bridge, stating the following: "The lyrics of this bridge are incredibly complex, haunting, and vividly depict the destruction of a very intense relationship. Crashing echoes and gripping violins move the heart and soul along with Ellie's fragile and broken voice. The tension builds and then completely stops -- a powerful gasp for peace and acceptance before the final chorus." Great choice! Big Girls Don't Cry Ugh this is so beautiful. I love how it starts with a faster pace as they're still frolicking and then slows down as she speaks about alone time, peace, serenity. The violins at the end are fab too. A really heartfelt bridge and a nice complement to the rest of the song. Teen Idle This doesn't do anything. Why did u send this. Lover It's a cute bridge, but I don't really feel like it does anything groundbreaking to make the final chorus more exciting. There's no major buildup. Is it a nice switch-up from the rest of the song? Sure. Hero Mariah's vocals are pretty powerful in this bridge and I think it does a nice job of capturing your attention before the final chorus. It falls into the middle of the pack for me. Come Back... Be Here I hate to say it and I hope I don't sound ridiculous... but I actually missed the bridge on my first listen of this song. It was so quick and ineffective that I was like omg we're at the chorus again I'm Your Baby Tonight Abso-****ing-lutely. Every single note GRIPS me. Iconic. Because of You Another really strong entry this round! This bridge just grabs you immediately and hooks you into the drama of the song perfectly. I feel like I'm being thrown back and forth a bit as the tension builds up, and then the high note and then the release on that soft partial chorus. Whew. It 150% does its job!! Listen This blends in way too much with the rest of the song. There really isn't a distinct moment here. The lyrics are not complex and I've seen more interesting vocal acrobatics from Beyoncé on other tracks. Learn to Let Go I completely forgot about this song/bridge. It's a really good choice! The melody is memorable and the energy provides both a release from the rest of the song and a buildup to the final chorus. Strong choice. Cinderella This was not it sis! There is really no benefit to the song's climax and the spoken word part kind of throws the natural progression of the song off the rails. Let It Go I was NOT expecting to see this make an appearance but it actually works quite well for the challenge. It's a great switch in melody and tempo from the rest of the song and the pulsating instrumental / power vocals really build up to that final chorus. 1. Whitney Houston - I'm Your Baby Tonight 2.
