  • Girl…  17 and 31… Nobody called the police? He was taken advantage of… Anyway, it’s definitely fitting the theme, but it makes me… Feel like Juicy.

  • I- not a song about pedophillia “She was thirty one and I was seventeen. Idk though, I still feel like the fear is missing. It seems more like it’s about his innocence, an naivety.

  • I- the story-telling in this song, whew! Anyway, i suppose they did have sex. Oh yeah, they prob had sex cause the ‘we sat on the sands / and a boy took her hand / but i saw the sun rise as a man’ WHEW!! Great job!

 

Vanessa Carlton - White Houses

  • Akfjskfjdn omg, I forgot about this song. It was always known as the virginity song for me cus it was the first time I heard a song about losing it. She is nervous about it, for sure, but the melody is a little annoying akdjskd. Not bad though

  • Umm it only talks about her first time in like one verse and even then it does the bare minimum for the criteria.

Deanna Carter - Strawberry Wine

  • It’s a really pretty song; she’s great lyrically, but the actual meaning of the lyrics isn’t quite what we were looking for. She didn’t quite say if she was nervous about it, but she did address losing her virginity. It could’ve been better I think.

  • Ooo the lyricism is beautiful! But it is outclassed by other songs and the sexual experience is more focused on losing your innocence and “becoming a woman”.

  • Since when do ATRLers listen to a lot of country? Anyway, he could’ve been more, idk, detailed about emotion? I get it was first time, but that’s all I’m getting. Where is the anxiety, the nervousness? Could’ve been a lot better lyrically and production wise as well.

  • I’m getting real sick of country, ngl. But the song matches the theme of that shift into adulthood, which is what we’re looking for, but there’s just something about it that leaves me like: “is that it?”

  • I think it is pretty good and solid. I do agree that it needs a little more “oomf”. It’s not too complex, but it does check all the boxes.

  • Not luke bryan again its like someone sent in his song for every round lmao. Well for this, i think it was about the memory of their first sex night right? They were nervous but they had fun. Great for them. I don’t know i feel like it’s missing something but a great entry anyway.

  • Love that he begins with flat out saying it’s about his first time fff. Fits the theme perfectly; he’s super nervous about what he’s about to do and it feels like he knows everything about to change.

  • I think it is great but I am missing the fear/nervousness in the experience. I feel like they are talking more about being sneaky and underprepared rather than being nervous or having reservations. But otherwise it’s a great choice.

  • Lmao, perfect! So what is actually the band name? Why does genius have them as immature? A bit confused with the band’s name kii. I think this could be an example for this round. Amazing job!

 

The Thorns of Life - My First Time

  • The way it took me like 5 minutes to find a decent quality one on youtube I could tolerate shdks. But definitely captures what we’re looking for and it’s really cute tbh. Still screaming at “and I came” though akfjs

  • Ok i think this one is perfect. They talk about how nervous, awkward, and scared they were about the experience. It turned out to be a memorable and positive experience that blossomed into something worthwhile.

Park Jiyoon - Coming of Age Ceremony

  • The chorus is cute, but I don’t like the somewhat nonexistent melody of the verses. She’s a lil aggressive instead of nervous. Got big “you WILL **** me” vibes and that wasn’t quite what we were looking for.

  • Hmmm Idk i feel like this is the opposite of what we were looking for. She is too confident and assertive, but the prompt was asking for the artist to be scared and nervous.

  • Her voice is not iT. She doesn’t seem that nervous for the first sex or kiss or something that she wants her partner to do for me. It’s a good entry tho.

 

Kip Moore - Backseat

  • Whew, was worried this was going to be ugly, but it was fairly nice. You can tell from his singing that the experience was a little uncomfortable, as can be expected from the first time. Also happy it’s labeled country, but is like 20% country.

  • I think this one is great. It really paints the picture and you can feel that awkwardness and scareness in the lyrics. There isn’t anything I would change so good job! And 100/10 extra points for the singers name.

  • oh yeah i see that he is kinda afraid or worried from the still guarded line. great job tbh but there are some that are a lil bit better like a LIL.

  • I… Girl, I never got into Kimbra, but I’m starting to rethink this decision. I didn’t know she made pop masterpieces like this, Carly who? AHHHHH the chorus, the SHIFT. THE VOCALS. Ma’am, I’m gonna stream this album, we-. Lyrical content is great as well, I can pick up she’s scared because she thinks the sex might ruin everything, but also wants to know what it’s like. We stan.
