levi_valvi Posted December 23, 2019 Posted December 23, 2019 just doing my top 50 songs, i won't by fancy at all as i have like no energy i do intend on actually finishing this year though probably starting the day after tomorrow
levi_valvi Posted December 27, 2019 Author Posted December 27, 2019 so let me start by saying this year in music hasn't really been it. The only albums i've really loved and used all of are TUN and NFR. expected big things from Tove and Taylor but they kinda underwhelmed (the latter serving the worst singles ever making me almost completely drop her). oh, and if you don't already know, i'm a kpopper so there's gonna be loads of kpop on the list. in fact, it's gonna be half of the list. it would/should be more but i wanted some western music to be represented to bring in the views so year, had to install some affirmative action. doing first 10 now, the next 10 later today, 2x10 tomorrow and the final 10 the day after that
Born to Run Posted December 27, 2019 Posted December 27, 2019 Slayyyter being MIA on the list, I love to predict it

levi_valvi Posted December 27, 2019 Author Posted December 27, 2019 #50 Dua Lipa - don't start now a bop. not completely loving it, like, we can't deny that it's kinda basique, but it's very catchy and it did what it needed to do (smash + stomp) #49 Zara larsson - don't worry bout me hope she doesn't get completely shelved by her label cause sis is serving quality even if it's bomb after bomb. we need pop girls like her! #48 GOT7 - you calling my name GOT7 always serves. this is very different from them but we still love it. so sleek and sexy, it's kinda wacko jacko'd but we forgive them #47 Katy perry - Never really over Used it a lot for like 2 week and then havn't used it since but whatever, still an interesting pop sing #46 Hwasa - TWIT didn't do much for me at first but then i realized that it's kinda genious how that flute thing also does the "twit twit twit" melody, a very well constructed pop sing that i really want ariana to take inspiration from #45 FKA Twigs - sad day was underwhelmed with her album overall but this was a complete serve. #44 NCT 127 - superhuman yeah this is how boy group songs should sound like. love the nsync'd pre chorus into the 2019'd noise and then back to the classic boy group melodic chorus #43 Post malone - circles doing Tame impala better than tame impala did in 2019. king of pop melodies always wins! #42 Tove lo - glad he's gone one of the last interesting pop girls with original ideas, we have to stan! #41 Yerin baek - maybe it's not out fault so gorgeous. yeah it's very "aesthetics" but whatever, it makes me feel at ease so

LUV you and LUV your taste

LUV you and LUV your taste the way you've shaped my music taste and broaden my horizon, LUV supportive fomos friends who lift others up to be better version of themselves btw LUV your work in the 2020 election thread, i don't post there much but i try to keep up. actually, lemme go make a baity post there hihi
levi_valvi Posted December 27, 2019 Author Posted December 27, 2019 wait I just remembered that Dedicated came out this year not that it would have made the list but still, i would have mentioned it with the other albums that i expected a lot from but ended up being major disappointments

levi_valvi Posted December 27, 2019 Author Posted December 27, 2019 #40 Harry styles - adore you why am i kinda liking everything from his current era #39 Oh my girl - Guerilla ma'am this is synth pop excellence it's eerie, it's epic, it's everything #38 Kim petras - Sweet spot don't think i'll every get tired of this. #37 Billie eilish - ilomilo not completely sure how i feel about billie. i do think she's bringing something interesting and (dare i say) original to the spotify playlists, but hmm, something about her seem kinda contrived. anyways, ilomilo was the immideate standout for me from her album #36 ITZY - ICY ITZY was one of the most pleasant surprises in 2019 for me. LUV how it's all about having FUN, catchy sings, bright colors, bounce beats, great choreo etc. #35 GOT7 - Eclipse i don't get why this isn't more well-liked it's so catchy and sounds SO current. i love it #34 Slayyyter - tattoo i love slayyyter, i do. i love how she takes that Y2K pop sound and gives it a modern twist #33 Twice - Feel Special this concept change from twice has me whipped maybe i should have placed this higher, idk, but i really do think this is a basically a perfect pop chorus #32 Taeyeon - Spark spotify told me taeyeon is my most listened to artist of the year, ending ariana's 3 year reign but yeah, i LUV her, her voice speaks to my soul. Spark isn't her best song and it's kinda too adele'd but it was her best single this year so #31 Sam smith - How do you sleep LUV this ariana reject. Sam is kinda serving this era, can't wait for their album. ended Troye?
Mr. Loco Posted December 28, 2019 Posted December 28, 2019 How do you sleep? is an Ariana reject? He did really well with the song!

levi_valvi Posted December 28, 2019 Author Posted December 28, 2019 (edited) #30 Gfriend - Fever a trashy bop and i understand that a lot of people find it uninspired (especially the drop) but idk, i find it super catchy and fun. My favorite summer release of the year #29 Angel olsen - Too easy didn't care too much for her album but this song is amazing #28 Lana del rey - Love song Love every song on this album but i made a rule with myself not to include more than two songs per artists. I could have chosen any song from the album as the 2nd pick, really, but went with this. A gorgeous sing #27 Oh My Girl - SSFWL I really like OMG. They serve nothing but quality bops + they stick to that quintessential kpop sound even when everyone else is trying to appeal to the west. #26 Taylor swift - False god I didn't expect taylor to have this in her but i'm so happy that she did. best part is the pre-chorus, i don't know the corret words to describe it but you know, the way she kinda disregard the flow of the beat and just blurts out the lyrics. genious #25 Meduza - Piece of your heart yup yup yup still goes off #24 Red velvet - Psycho This is my current obsession, listen to it ALL the time and i just can't get enough. It flows so well and is SO catchy #23 Twice - Fancy basically a perfect pop song. it's that good. there's just something about Twice that stops me from really buying into them, idk, i'm not completely sold on them as a group so I don't see them ever flying that high on my lists. sorry #22 TXT - Crown SO GOOD. their whole debut EP was such a serve actually. too bad they couldn't keep that level of quality, so yeah, i've since dropped them! #21 Tove lo + Kylie minogue - Really don't like u when i heard about this collab i was scared. I love Tove and Kylie is one of my OGs, she basically taught me to love great pop music. Luckily the sing didn't disappoint, so here it is Edited December 28, 2019 by levi_valvi
jose168 Posted December 28, 2019 Posted December 28, 2019 Favs so far:Psycho, Fancy, Love Song (or NFR? both great picks), Icy, Sweet Spot, Adore You, sad day, twit, you calling my name, DSN. I didnt know gfriend put out this year, if its "trashy" like fingertip was I'm down Will also checkouut the OMG tracks!
levi_valvi Posted December 29, 2019 Author Posted December 29, 2019 (edited) i'm losing interest but only 20 songs to go so let me pull myself together. doing top 10 tomorrow #20 Sunmi - Noir yeah it's pretentious etc but whatever, LUV sunmi-pop #19 Lee Hi - No one i don't get why the gays didn't stan this. queen served a wonderful chill bop #18 Everglow - Bon bon chocolat took some time to grow on me but once it hit i became addicted. together with ITZY they're the best thing to debut this year, super excited to follow them #17 ariana grande - 7 Rings the fact that she pulled this off, ugh her talent it amazes me. PS i truly believe this isn't a pro-comsumerism anthem but rather a song about using material goods to cope with trauma. the haunting instrumental and the "think retail-therapy my new addiction" gives it away. my socialist queen #16 WJSN - La La Love My queens. Luv everything about them and this was their best title of the year #15 Slayyyter - Celebrity Already said i love slayyyter and this is my fave song from her album. totally captures her brand and super duper catchy #14 Gfriend - Sunrise Gfriend keeps making the same song again and again and i love it every time. I mean, when they keep serving perfect melodies how can anyone really complain #13 Billie eilish - I love you yeah this is gorgeous #12 Chungha - Gotta go the way she fused trap elements with dark electro pop, ahhh a gay dream. the western girls really need to take lesson from this cause this really should be the sound of 2020 #11 Rocket punch - Bim bam bum seems basic at first but it really is a super well put together pop sing. espcially love how it has a completely different 2nd chorus, kinda avant-garde if you ask me Edited December 29, 2019 by levi_valvi

levi_valvi Posted December 31, 2019 Author Posted December 31, 2019 okay lets get this thing over with #10 weyes blood - andromeda i really like weyes' album, very beautiful. i was kinda ready to stan but then i saw her live and it was so boring. very talented girl and but I guess i want to be served a full pop spectacle. #9 Kim petras - Icy she serving everything i used to get from the weeknd and she's serving it WAY better. makes him being completely over not sad at all! #8 Blackpink - Don't know what to do my girls i get that the drop is straight out of 2012 but whatever, we can still enjoy the classic david guetta bops today so why would we not be able to enjoy this modern rendition. #7 FKA twigs - Cellophane ma'am this is ART. and the fact that it made like no impact, not even in the homosexuel corners of the internet, is such a crime. also it's like really catchy, i genuinely used this a lot #6 Taylor swift - Cruel summer yeah this is the music taylor should be making. the song is quintessential pop taylor, it's the type of pop music she's completely mastered, it's the taylor i love #5 Taeyeon - Blue this song speaks to my soul. there's seriously something about her voice that just takes me back to my childhood. i have no idea why. #4 lana del rey - The Greatest i'm not sure i think this is her best song, but it's the one that spoke to me the most. NFR came out just after my bf broke up with me and this gave me all the emotions. the greatest loss of them all and the line "miss doing nothing the most of all" stuck with me cause idk, the best times were the ones where we were just doing nothing. sundays lying in bed, playing mario cart, going for walks in the park. getting teary thinking about it #3 apink - %% (eung eung) quick change of tone. %% is that overly sweet sugar pop that i was denied until i found kpop. i don't hate slow understated songs, i mean, just like at my list, but i hate how almost every song in the west is like that. where are the oversaturated songs where more is more?? i need that and Apink served that excellently #2 ITZY - Dalla Dalla in the same vein as the song above, this song also provided an escape from my boring everyday life. best chorus of the year #1 Ariana grande - Ghostin this song is like, unreal. the way she so perfectly portrays the internal conflict she went through, the gut wrenching honesty. and then over a Annihilation'd (watch it on netflix today) instrumental, ugh i never dared to hope for such a masterpiece
