GreatestLoveofAll Posted September 5, 2019 Posted September 5, 2019 These list make me upset Whitney released like five albums between 1993-2009... she could have been far bigger tbh. Congrats to the divas tho!

Cryptique Posted September 5, 2019 Posted September 5, 2019 Madonna really underperformed in the US since 1993, no?

(“Ray of Light”) #36th best selling album of 2000. (“Music”) #40 best selling album of 2012. (“MDNA”) #43 best selling album of 2005. (“Confessions on a Dance Floor”) #49 best selling album of 2008. (“Hard Candy”) #58th best selling album of 1995. (“Bedtime Stories”) To be fair, her 5 biggest albums were all before 1993 in US. (Madonna, Like a Virgin, True Blue, Like a Virgin, The Immaculate Collection) Also America just wasn’t as supportive of her as Europe since 1993. Confessions didn’t do much and ROL lost steam after just a few months.
slw84 Posted September 5, 2019 Posted September 5, 2019 So if you sold 10m when most were selling 2 million but if you sold 5m when most were selling 1m you’d rank higher why do people want to veer away from pure sales pre 2015...I get post 2015 but it’s almost like people want us to believe an album can sell twice as much as another but if the comparable albums against them were different it’s possible to consider the lesser selling album more successful i admire the creative ways to shift it a bit though

Mariah's debut which is 9xP and was the #1 best selling album of 1991 is missing. Also Emotions and Unplugged, so basically 3 blockbusters.

Similar level of dominance at the time. And this isn't even saying 'X is more successful than Y'. It is simply a measure of who was most dominant relative to their time. The sales climate changes so comparing numbers will always be debatable. However, someone having the #2 selling album in 1995 and someone having the #20 selling album in 2004 is objective. One was clearly more dominant of their time lol.

fridayteenage Posted September 5, 2019 Posted September 5, 2019 Taylor #1? How? She's FLOP She's OVER the haters told me
CarCAL22 Posted September 5, 2019 Posted September 5, 2019 Adele is by far and large the most impressive on this list. I mean... with ONLY 3 albums and ready to come for Taylor's wig with her next release

I guess I just know the girls are gonna use it like it’s pure sales stats pre streaming era...the way they use equivalents and units lol albums in certain eras were only pushed for a year where in some eras 80s 2010s things were different but meh my faves remain legend
