There's something to be said about them not needing to be latched to men to make it to the top of the summit too (and that's not a knock on other female rappers but it's just great to see ladies doing it on their own). yup you can say that it was quite hard for a rapper to get a #1 without crossing over to pop before streaming era tho Edited September 3, 2019 by Mr.Fenty

I had slightly more in my final predictions I think (can't check right now) Her streams were 95% paid tho did you account for that? And the YouTube tracks also outperformed in US a bit.

Remy Ma got hers with the rap group she was in, Kim got it with Lady Marmalade.
Tasty Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 Lizzo queen. You Need To Calm Down I'm rooting for you.
fridayteenage Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 Quote That amounts to 27% of the total volume of all albums sold in the U.S. Swift’s last album, reputation, held 29% of the market in its first week while the first week of Adele’s 25 carved out a huge 41% of the market 22% of all albums sold in the United States were copies of Taylor Swift’s 1989 Wow, bigger market share than 1989. Only slightly down from Reputation. But She's a floooop now they said!

The fact that Speak Now was before the streaming era too, very impressive and she pre-dated whole albums charting Lover having the most as it should

itsmee Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 Why is it taking so lon to update the charts

Not only have there been so few black women to go #1 this decade, there have been so few dark skinned black women to go #1. The only other dark skinned black women (that I can think of) that went #1 besides Lizzo was Janelle Monae on We Are Young Hopefully this is a sign that dark skinned black women will make a triumphant return to the charts (looking at you Normani!). I wouldn’t really consider lizzo and janelle dark skinned tho but yes!

So delighted to see Lover in the top 10. That's one of few tracks by Taylor Swift that I really enjoy. It is actually my favourite song of hers since Wildest Dreams.
Witch Privilege Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 I'm so ****ing happy for Lizzo! She deserves it. Great song, and her live performances are such a slay. She put in THE WORK.
