Lady gaga could never. Solo produced soundtrack broke streaming on spotify first week. #2 debut with no promo. Gaga had to beg people to steam ASIB soundtrack.

Good thing she isn't, imagine debuting with 54k while being affiliated to an enormous Disney remake and having the likes of Jay Z and Childish Gambino on an album :dancehall2:

I have avoided all these threads this week because I'm a fan of Gaga and Bey, but it is quite hypocritical that a bunch of the Hive were claiming ASIB's success was nothing impressive because soundtrack albums ALWAYS sell and yet here we are with them claiming a 54k debut off of a film that's headed to do 1.5 billion(500 domestic or so) worldwide is not an underperformance and it's also completely expected.

Yall need to accept that GaGa embarassed herself when she flopped with crap pompous music during Artpop and Joanne. Add the Monsters in for having a bad rep.

Bey doesn't bother anybody, yet people use the few fans who may be extra to drag her as a person. It never sticks because literally everyone who meets Bey ends up liking her.

With that said, Monsters should be happy ASIB revived Gaga. She needed it BAD.

On-topic: The Hive's deflection in this thread. :ahh:

Her streak for solo studio albums is in tact what is not clicking? Anyway congrats but it was her fault, she and Parkwood totally ruined the launch and left everything up to guessing. And which geniuses release a film theme song the week before the movie? It makes no sense. Everyone always drops the single at least 2 months in advance and gives notice about the soundtrack and participating artists. Terrible rollout and Spirit was a poor choice of a theme song. Shame because the other songs are stellar

Not to be off-topic but didn't Gaga release Shallow a week before the movie release and it actually did well? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Tragic debut. Hopefully this humbles her fanbase a bit, but looking at the responses here not much has changed.

Yup.

It's not like anyone streamed the album either. :ahh:

OT: A pure sales and streaming bomb. What a disaster. I was told by her fans that she's just under Adele and Taylor in the trinity of pop girls, yet the likes of Marina and the Diamonds sells more in pure than she does?

When you put it like that... :deadbanana4:

Hardly any of us on ATRL bought the album because we could just stream it. We had a pretty big argument in base about that, and streams won.

No it didn't, you guys better buy B7:clown:

It IS Beyoncé's record and nothing you say is going to change that fact

PrGiuQt.gif

Britney was cheated out of a #1 debut whereas Beyonce cheated and couldn’t get a #1 debut. I can see why that would upset you.

You're still crying over Britney's number 2 with Blackout :bibliahh: they sold more so you don't think It's fair?

They double sold albums. Retailers bought from Virgin and then sold them at their stores, thus double-counting the same album for Nielsen. I’m a Hotel California stan, but The Eagles clearly chose to focus on guaranteeing sales as opposed to a #1 debut so I don’t see why I’m not allowed to point out that changing that rule retroactively was unfair nor do I have any reason to acknowledge their chart re-write as official.

The record you are referring to and the BeyHive is talking about is studio albums, which like I said, remains intact.

As for the last part, send Billboard an email and see if they will consider giving Brit the #1.

The Gift is a studio album and Beyonce sings over 70% of it which is the criteria Billboard uses for those rules.

And it would be interesting to see what they’d say now - they really hated Britney back in those days but they’d get public backlash now for going out of their way to hurt the career of a woman struggling with a mental illness.
