Plus if my memory serves me right, either RIAA or Soundscan(one of them) doesn't count soundtracks like Bodyguard for the artist total sales.

Originally, BB did not, which is why Garth Brooks won the BB AOTY award in 1993 instead of Whitney.  As time wore on, BB did start crediting The Bodyguard to Whitney.  Had BB done so from the beginning, as BB should have, Whitney would've won the 1993 BB AOTY award, as she by far had the biggest single and album/CD of 1993.  Whitney had to settle for awards from IWALY and H 100 awards, of which she had 11.

Something clearly went very wrong. This should have been a surefire global smash OST. Not sure what. Maybe it's because the songs weren't in the movie but wasn't that the case for Black Panther?

Black Panther debuted at #1 with 154k SPS and 54k pure first week... and it was released a week before the film came out, meanwhile TLK: The Gift came out the same day as the film did. For BP, only one song was fully shown in the movie (2 were briefly shown in 2 scenes.) Not to mention it did 131k with 40k pure sales and stayed at #1 during it’s second week... TALENT!

But, we all know WHY MX sold so much its 1st week, and only 20 k since then.  Madonna was (I think) the 1st artist to do such a combo with MDNA (2012).  And she has done so repeatedly.  I think one album/CD DID have a 2nd or 3rd wk redemption combo too, but it still didn't hold up on the BB 200.

That being said, MX's fall on the Album Sales Chart, which is far more representative of Madonna's current fan base, was far softer on that chart than the BB 200.  Much of her fan base has aged with her, and her attempts to try and draw younger fans (who SPS albums) has had very limited success.

Lady gaga could never. Solo produced soundtrack broke streaming on spotify first week. #2 debut with no promo. Gaga had to beg people to steam ASIB soundtrack.

Well, ASIB also spent more than SIX MONTHS in the BB 200s TOP TEN!  In fact, many of the other weeks since ASIB's release have been 11-20 too. So, ASIB is a HUGE success given 2018-9s standards.  I'm not a "monster" (though I do like Lady Gaga).  But trying to claim that Gaga had to "beg for streams" when ASIB has/is still obviously doing well on the SPS-dominated BB 200 couldn't be further from the truth.  If The Gift gets to 6 T 10 wks, then we can at least start to try and compare the two.

You wish it was just the monsters, but clearly it's not even 40% monsters, not that it's not deserved on the monsters side :lmao:  Won't even comment on the "social outcasts" part of your post, which is pathetic.

OT: Bey should stop playing and her next album should be a normal release that relies simply on good promo and good music.

The gift has archevied over 40 million streams in spotify during the week and about 11k pure sales, which nearly totals 54k SPS. Are you guys over with those Tidal jokes ... or you simple needed an excuse for her longetivity during the Lemonade era?

Lemonade would've been over 5million SPS had it been released normally as the other albums.

Oh I was wondering how did it do only 3k-4k on Apple Music and Tidal after I check it.

That explains it.

I am pretty most of those streams are from US though.

Billboards constant stance changing makes them lose credibility to be honest. Back in the day and later on they made it very clear that The Bodyguard was recognized as a Whitney Houston album. I mean if they saw that as a Whitney Houston album then there is no way they can not see this as a Beyonce album. The Preachers Wife album is also attributed to Whitney. They are both soundtracks yes, but they credit them to Whitney. So why the sudden change now ?

This is not true. You can easily pull up their chart and see it, like every soundtrack, was not credited to a single artist.

Actually, based on available stats, it seems like 40% of the streams are from US...
