Paula Abdul can't be nice in this format of judging huh! 1. @Overprotected - utopia 2, @Invisibility - Justify My Love 3, @KatyCatPH - Blank Space 4 @EriKills - All Hands On Deck 5@Solarie - I Fell In Love With The Devil 6. Touch It - Formation ELEMENT Round 1: Aesthetics Bjork - This was a sublime dreamscape with gorgeous colors. amazing choice!! Avril - Very cohesive and a beautifully haunting palette. Taylor - Always has been an extremely well-produced video. They put in many details to create this 4 minute world. Beyoncé - There are parts that definitely have an artistry to them, but other parts fall flat for me aesthetically. It's not the most visual pleasing video at times. Tinashe - I really didn't feel any intrigue or artistry to the set design, except for the part with the grid of boxes they danced in. Madonna - There was nothing aesthetically pleasing about this for me. SABBATH ROUND 1: AESTHETICS Solarie: I remember you sending this for another round and being slayed by it along with the rest of the entry and how it became my favorite entry of yours. It worked then, and it works now tbh. The sets are beautiful and I especially love the shots of her with the red dress. One thing I don’t like is how harsh the “lighting” effects for the thunderstorm were, they look a lil cheap, but overall I like how the mood is so well defined from start to finish. Touch It: I was not expecting formation tbh. I wasn’t expecting anything in particular, but this caught me off guard kii. I think there are a lot of different aesthetics in the video: the scenes with the old recorder effect, the red room with the choreo, the pool scenes, the one with the white dress, the list goes on, and while all of them are well executed, I don’t think the video itself *IS AESTHETIC*. KatyCatPH: Yes great sets, beautiful sets, great cinematography, great cinematography. Even if there are different parts to this video like the dinner scene, or the one with the cake or the car they all feel like they’re part of the same thing. Love how psycho the storyline is but the vibe of the video feels so soft. EriKills: first of all, fat. Now that we have that out of the way, UGH THIS BOP, I played this song and video so many times when it came out. I absolutely love the shot of her with the other 6 dancers each inside a trailer and you just see this red wall, with 7 people dancing, they snapped with that one and then when it comes back at night with the lighting, WHEW. However, the rest of the video isn’t very aesthetic to me. Yes, it’s very energetic and the dancing is great but the rest of the shots aren’t very interesting or beautiful and neither are the locations, the editing or anything really. Overprotected: WOW Invisibility: The use of Black and White in this was so smart, it really adds so much to the whole mood. I love the way this was shot, with the camera “passing by” the rooms and showing a glimpse of all the people in the hotel. Incredible, it’s so hot and so weird at the same time because of the characters, whew. Fad could be hot and could be weird but never both, she wishes!!!!!
