Yvess Posted June 5, 2019 Author Posted June 5, 2019 (edited) @Solarie @Pendulum @Psycho Solarie - Avril Lavigne Too Much To Ask Spoiler Yvess: Solarie - 7.5: This album track will always be one of my favorites. Unfortunately, as an Avril fan, I believe there's more better performances from her debut era that showed her vocals in a good light. I love the belts in the bridge though. This choice is safe which warrants a safe score too. Speezy.: Solarie - Avril Lavigne – 4.5: She was EXTREMELY flat. The emotions were there in her voice but she sounded very bored and ready to be done with the track. She does have very soft vocals though Sabbath: Solarie - Avril Lavigne - 7.5: this is an okay entry, she’s always hitting the right notes, and there’s something about the way she enunciates at some parts or uses her tone that make this much more interesting. Nice. Pressure So larie 9.5/10 omg I love the song you sent in, great ballad. This is great entry and her voice us great. Dylan: Solarie - 8 - That flawless last minute definitely helped your score. Avril sounds so pretty and I miss when her vocals were like this and less squeaky. Psycho - Lady Gaga Pokerface Spoiler Yvess: Psycho - 10: ICONIC. This version stayed in my elementary iPod for years until it got lost so this gives me nostalgic vibes at best. This showed us that her vocals is not to be made fun at all! The best thing about this song is that it has ARTISTRY. Speezy: Psycho - Lady Gaga – 8: A very dry start honestly. I do love her piano skills and her vocals during the chorus was on point. During the verses they were untamed. I appreciate singers who have upbeat songs like Pokerface performing them as ballads/ a-capellas Element: Round 7 - Psycho - 9.5 - I appreciate fresh arrangements of songs. PERSONALLY, I don’t love this one… it’s a tad indulgent and annoying to me. The vocal is very strong throughout however. I don’t think she had any bad notes really. Pressure - Psycho 10/10 I love her voice she is a real performer. and I like how she takes so many risks while performing. Amazing entry sis Dylan: Psycho - 9: I love this! I've never seen this but she sounds great and this puts a nice emotional touch on the song. The added bits are delivered so well too. Gets a little jazzy and I like it. Pendulum - Grimes Untitled Spoiler Yvess: Pendulum - 7: I enjoyed this one more than the previous song from Grimes. I just feel like her songs don't give justice to her angelic vocals tbh. Element: Round 7 - Pendulum - 6.0 - This was pleasant and I could actually make out some words! I wish she enunciated, but I do recognize/appreciate the ethereal quality to her voice here. Sabbath: Pendulum - Grimes (R7) - 5 : Now, this is better than the other entry. The voice is much clearer and I like that she’s also playing an instrument. But the voice is still not that great. Pressure - Pendulum 3.5 /10 this was not the tea. I got really bored during the performance I legit could not finish it. She is not really much of a performer sadly Dylan: Pendulum - 8: Now, this is really pretty and easier to decipher than the first Grimes entry. Her tone is gorgeous here. The WINNER of this ROUND is..... Spoiler Psycho - Lady Gaga - 9.3 Solarie - Avril Lavigne - 7.4 Pendulum - Grimes - 5.175 Edited June 5, 2019 by Yvess

Yvess Posted June 5, 2019 Author Posted June 5, 2019 @Guero @Pendulum @Alena Guero - Ariana Grande Tattooed Heart Spoiler Yvess: Guero - 10: Sometimes, constant belting takes away the beauty of the live performance but this is a clear exemption. Perfection! Yaaaaas gorl yas! Thanks for choosing this great video, TH is THAT song to silence all haters! Speezy: Guero - Ariana Grande - 10: Honestly I didn’t expect anything bad coming from Ariana. This performance showed of her skills as one of the most recognized vocalist. Her enunciation is very good in this performance. The emotion can be heard through some parts of her voice. The control, volume and power of her voice in this track is an example of what singers/vocalist should be able to do. Sabbath: Guero - Ariana Grande - 8.5: This is one of my faves from YT but it’s a great choice for a round like this ‘cause it displays her capabilities without keeping short or going too overboard. Pressure : Guero 10/10 she has the voice. For such a young lady she is so powerful with her cords perfect entry here. Really perfect. Dylan: Guero - 9.5: This is how you do simple but diva, guys. Pendulum - Grimes Sagrad прекрасный Spoiler Yvess: Pendulum - 6.5: She sounds like a Baby Madonna! I love the first minute of this song then got bored with the rest of the performance sadly. Element: Round 6 - Pendulum - 3.0 - Honestly I don’t even know how to score this. It sounds like she was moaning into the microphone the entire time, so I don’t feel as if I really have vocals to judge? Sabbath: Pendulum - Grimes (R6) - 3: she is baby. no, she literally sounds like a baby. I can’t really understand what she’s saying and I feel like there’s too many effects going on to fully appreciate it. Pressure - Pendulum 3/10 I'm so sorry sis but this isn't the tea. I don't think her vocals are as powerful as the others who sent in. And it also was really hard to hear her too. Dylan: Pendulum - 6.5: Video is almost too LQ to really know if she's killing it or not. Sounds pleasant but I was waiting for something... bigger, i guess? Alena - Selena Gomez Love Will Remember Spoiler Yvess: Alena - 8.5: A slightly better rendition of LWR for sure. This is not a bad entry tbh maybe there's something wrong with my ears. Maybe it's black voodoo magic but this is good. Speezy: Alena - Selena Gomez – 6: The vocals weren’t bad honestly. Around 2:28 on she had some vocal cracks which were not the tea. Also the backing audio or the backup vocalist should never over power the singer, she needs to increase her volume while singing Element: Round 6 - Alena - 7.0 - Dead at you sending the same song twice. She started off very strong in this performance but seemed to lose steam as it progressed. I could barely hear her enunciate during the bridge for example, and the final chorus had a lot of bum notes. So for me, this entry was a bit more turbulent vs. round 2, which I enjoyed more consistently throughout. Pressure : Alena - 6/10 I would of prefer if you sent a different song. Fact you sent both songs kinda made it a little disappointing because she has got many bops but it shows maybe she can just sing that song? I get it was different performances. Dylan: Alena - 5.5: I prefer this performance. Seems a little more emotional and that's a big part of vocal delivery. That being said, there's a lot of reliance on people other than Selena here. The WINNER of this ROUND is..... Spoiler Guero - Ariana Grande - 9.6 Alena - Selena Gomez - 6.6 Pendulum - Grimes - 4.3

Yvess Posted June 5, 2019 Author Posted June 5, 2019 @Not Like The Movies @KatyCatPH @Invisibility Not Like The Movies - Janelle Monae BaBopByeYa Spoiler Yvess: Not Like The Movies - 9: I want to drag you for sending in a 9 minute entry but I will not because this song is the living proof of her versatile vocals! You are one of the few people who owned this challenge imo. Element: Round 5 - Not Like the Movies - 8.0 - I really recommend to everyone that you avoid sending video entries that are longer than 5 minutes. We have to judge a decent number of these and pinpoint certain details… so the longer the entry, the more challenging that is for our process. This is not the first entry of the season that has been this long. The vocal was powerful overall, but that comes with the cost of some very shrill moments. I think Janelle has some good pipes but you could have allowed her to shine even more with a different performance. Sabbath: Not Like the Movies - Janelle Monae - 8.5: Love the instrumentation on this one. Her voice also sounds really good most of the time. And I wasn’t expecting this kind of entry. _niceeeee_Also not it being 9 mins, serving our Techno entry last round. Pressure - Not Like The Movies 6/10 it was annoying waiting for her to start singing but once she did. I'll have to say she has got a great vocal cord. Dylan: Not Like The Movies - 8.5: Felt like this got awkwardly silent at some points because of the length but the high points are very high. The theatrics hep it out. KatyCatPH - Taylor Swift Teardrops on my Guitar Spoiler Yvess: KatyCatPH - 10: I love this song, this song actually made me aware of Taylor Swift tbh. The good thing about this performance is that it is emotionally infectious imo. You can feel that she's telling the story of pain from that guy named Drew. Speezy: KatyCatPH - Taylor Swift - 8: Wow this is pretty good. This is organic Taylor with her guitar and delivering heartfelt vocals. I appreciate how she carries the notes and how she user a mix of tones Sabbath: KatyCatPH - Taylor Swift - 7 : a literal FETUS omg. Points were made cause she sounds just like on the recording, even if she’s not this big vocalist. I like the arrangements on this version but I don’t think it was the best song to pick. Pressure : KatyCatPH 8/10! Omg I almost forgot about Taylor cpuntry era. Her voice was so innocent but it worked for her. I like this entry a lot. Dylan: KatyCatPH - 7: Her tone was definitely on point with this performance, but that's about it. It's rather flat despite being pretty throughout. Needed a little something. Invisibility - Madonna Holiday Spoiler Yvess: Invisibility - 9: Despite being an upbeat song, this is actually a great choice. It showcased her vocal power tbh. I'll give you points for the showmanship too. Speezy: Invisibility – Madonna - 6: Okay this is the Madonna that we know. Her vocals are stronger and more clear than Lucky Star. But once again the choreo affects her vocal ability. 2:38 was a good vocal moment though. Element: Round 5 - Invisibility - 8.5 - This is so much better than Lucky Star, wow. I wonder if this was earlier in the concert and she had more energy lol. She was moving around a ton still but she seemed much more on pitch... her vocals were more vibrant and it didn’t have as many flat moments for me. Pressure: Invisibility - 7.5/10 this is a really cute performance and I liked her voice better in this video too. Dylan: Invisibility - 7.5: This is seemingly from the same concert as the first Madonna entry. Again, she sounds really good. Like either this isn't live or she really did a pretty good job despite not necessarily being known for powerhouse vocals. The WINNER of this ROUND is..... Spoiler Not Like The Movies - Janelle Monae - 8 KatyCatPH - Taylor Swift - 8 Invisibility - Madonna - 7.7 -
