Besides, how do we know how many of these imports are albums by her? False, stevyy is correct in saying that the cost of imported CDs is significantly less than domestically produced CDs. They used to release lists of the most imported albums in the 00s. For example, in 2005 Mariah's The Emancipation of Mimi sold 259,275 copies, of those were 78,609 imported copies (the album was the 8th most imported that year). Oricon only started including imports into their sales charts in December 2003. Some albums would have well over 50% of their total sales coming from imports. This is part of the reason why record labels include bonus tracks, DVDs, different covers, etc. for the Japanese market - it's an incentive to buy the more expensive Japanese press over the cheaper imported one.

Im sure that and Sgt.Pepper are million sellers The standards for sales then were different though. So considering the timeline, their sales managing to hold up in a list full of artists who debuted in better times for music sales is still an admirable feat

I myself agree that she was very popular in Asia during the 2000s, especially during the IASF era. 'Halo' is her most well-known song in Asia. After that, she declined in popularity and is now more of a celebrity name.
