This is the only decade that doesn't have any big rock hits from what I know (unless Imagine Dragons are considered rock and not pop). Right? It’s really weird. And I imagine it has to do with labels or the rock scene itself... I really enjoyed those crossover hits and hope that they can make a return to the charts
Sambuu Posted February 18, 2019 Posted February 18, 2019 i'm glad to "Fix You" is most popular 2005 song.
whatyouwant_ Posted February 18, 2019 Posted February 18, 2019 We really need a Rock/Alternative revival next decade

Yeah, we had some great alternative rock songs this decade, but no one close to the ones we had in the 00's. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Billboard_number-one_alternative_singles_of_the_2010s And i can't remember a pure rock song smashing this decade either. Some bands needed to change to a more pop-ish sound in order to not stay behind with the new streaming era.
Blue Ranger Posted February 18, 2019 Posted February 18, 2019 I really hope rock makes a comeback as well. Last decade was so amazing
KillingYourCareer Posted February 18, 2019 Posted February 18, 2019 Only ONE female song topping a year in a decade when females dominated for the most part? I hate locals
Newt Posted February 19, 2019 Posted February 19, 2019 I was just thinking rock has been trash this decade, all of those amazing rock hits in 2000

Like The Scientist having over 600 million streams is a biT of a kii considering all it did was #18 on the Alternative charts.

I can see the 2020s music charts being similar to the 90s music charts where all genres of music dominate.

superben Posted February 19, 2019 Posted February 19, 2019 Can I ask, if I download a song and play it multiple times, does it count towards spotify streams? Or only online streams count?

Yeah, people really love a good throwback list with soft rock songs. Doing a research, rock songs are dominating the playlists. Pop singers are in lower positions. I don't blame them, i usually love this kind of sound to drive and do a lot of things. I play hard rock/metal songs most when i'm nervous, love to that when i'm stressed, so i can scream. This playlist has almost 6M followers (i think it's the biggest of the 00's) One of my faves. Love these one too Edited February 19, 2019 by whatyouwant_
