ATRL Moderator Tsareena Posted December 26, 2018 ATRL Moderator Posted December 26, 2018 Syd did that on always never home, still need to listen to purr! Janelle
Remmy Posted December 26, 2018 Posted December 26, 2018 Janelle was also a 2018 discovery for me Dirty Computer is the only album that really stuck with me because I'm a basic hoe, the other two still have some gems though.
Pink Matter Posted December 27, 2018 Posted December 27, 2018 Some great discoveries! Thundercat's Drunk was a highlight of 2017. Some great jams on there Sade is great artist to check out. Her debut album is one of my faves so try listening to that if you haven't already (the Spotify version not the AM one, they have a messy version of Smooth Operator ) Mac Glad you're giving him a chance. Janelle's AA can be a tough listen initially so I'm glad you stuck with it.
potent Posted December 27, 2018 Posted December 27, 2018 Janelle I need to explore Sade's music better, I love Soldier of Love and Smooth Operator though.

Mr. Loco Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 I listened to some XXXtentacion music and it's actually kind of good... I liked SAD and another couple songs of him
Kiss It Better Posted December 29, 2018 Author Posted December 29, 2018 70. Tinashe - No Contest after 2477329230 years finally this gets released in studio version maybe the live version was better but i still love the album version anyway 69. Rita Ora & Rudimental - Summer Love https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YCpt0UBcddY this song makes me feel hopeless romantic 68. SG Lewis - Dreaming (ft. Bruno Major) guess i'll just keep dreaming... a relatable song about unable to be together with a love interest, honestly something that i would actually write (i lowkey write songs btw ) 67. VanJess - Rewind Time (ft. Little Simz) another chill relatable bop 66. Mitski - Nobody i just got into Mitski a few days ago actually and this song was the reason... there's a viral tweet with a video of her explaining the lyrics repeating the word "nobody" and i watched the music video on youtube and wow i loved it, would've been higher if i had discovered it earlier 65. Imagine Dragons - Bullet In A Gun i swear this song makes me feel like a super masc straight guy every time this song comes on 64. Nao - Curiousity i wanna do bad things while this song play in the background a bisexual anthem 63. Blood Orange - Hope (ft. Puff Daddy & Tei Shei) the song came with the album in August but I only started to listen to the album a month later and this song was the one that standouts most, also because the lyrics were very relatable at that moment when my only friend (aka my crush) left me (which was because of misunderstanding but we're cool again now even closer than ever) 62. Kelela - LSDXOXO_TRUTH OR DARE_123 BPM while TOD was my favorite song off Take Me Apart when it first came out, this remix brought a whole new life to the song... also LSDXOXO has some other dope tracks on spotify 61. Mariah Carey - Stay Long Love You (ft. Gunna) a whole bop and i feel like Cardi B could jump on it and make it a smash hit, maybe even have bigger potential than A No No remix
Kiss It Better Posted December 29, 2018 Author Posted December 29, 2018 (edited) 30. Drake - Scorpion this album has some bops but it's TOOOO LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG i get that he made it 2 discs for a reason but it's still TOOOOOOO LOOOOOOOOONG hence why i made a 20 tracks version Fave Tracks: Nice For What, In My Feelings, After Dark, Summer Games my 20 tracks version Peak Summer Games Jaded Emotionless Nice For What God's Plan I'm Upset 8 out of 10 Nonstop Elevate Finesse Ratchet Happy Birthday That's How You Feel Blue Tint In My Feelings Don't Matter To Me (ft. Michael Jackson) After Dark (ft. Static Major & Ty Dolla $ign) Is There More? Final Fantasy March 14 29. Tom Misch - Geography thanks to Nathan Zed (a youtuber and t shirt maker, if you don't know) for introducing me to such a great artist and this great album, not to mention one of the songs from this album "Disco Yes" made it on Obama's favorite song of 2018 Fave Tracks: Disco Yes, Lost In Paris 28. Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper - A Star Is Born OST since it's too long and have many dialogue, i made it into a solid 11 tracks Fave Tracks: I'll Never Love Again, Why Did You Do That, Look What I Found 27. Doja Cat - Amala this album has many fillers but also the highs>>>>> not as great as Purr EP but still great Fave Tracks: Game, Down Low, Body Language, Wild Beach 26. Zayn - Icarus Falls same with Scorpion this album is TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG at least Drake put it into 2 discs but this........ i know on wikipedia it listed as two discs but still..... not to mention he cut off the only hit from this era Dusk Til Dawn and only have it on the Japanese version well now he's flopping and selling less than Tinashe literally, Tinashe voodoo won still got some bops though Fave Tracks: Sour Diesel, Imprint, If I Got You, Let Me 25. Noname - Room 25 same case as Mitski, i just got into her like 2 days ago but it's super dope i love the vibe and all i wish i got into her earlier, and yes it does deserve to be at #25 on my list despite of me only have listened to it for 2 days... i watched her Tiny Desk Concert and that's the reason why she made the list she is like the clean and jazzy version of Cupcakke for me Fave Track: Window 24. HONNE - Love Me/Love Me Not a great dance/electronic album, kinda reminds me of Disclosure in a way but Disclosure still better though Fave Tracks: Me & You, Day 1 23. Kelela - TAKE ME A_PART THE REMIXES it's not just a remix album, most of those remixes are super dope and gave a new life to the song... kudos to these great DJs who did the remixes Fave Tracks: LSDXOXO_Truth or Dare, LMK feat various artists, KAYTRANADA_WAITIN, NATHANIEL W. JAMES & DAVE QUAM_WAITIN 22. The Carters - Everything Is Love another surprise album by Beyonce and Jay-Z kind of disappointed, but it's still good and got some bops Fave Tracks: Nice, Apes**t, Heard About Us 21. Kali Uchis - Isolation at first idk why i didn't like her for no reason but then this album came out and i just wanted to check out the album out of curiosity and it's really good Fave Tracks: Nuestro Planeta, After The Storm, Coming Home Edited December 30, 2018 by Kiss It Better

TheWayWeWere Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 No Contest is among my faves from JR Summer Love is cute, but I expected more tbh Nobody and Stay Long Love ASiB should've been higher TMA Remixes project is amazing
Remmy Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 Songs: Bullet In a Gun is good, one of the few songs I remember from Origins. Albums: Everything Is Love I think our top 3 is the same, slay! Icarus Falls was better than expected but yeah, way too many songs of course. I enjoy your faves except for IIGY. You do know there's a non-dialogue version of the ASIB soundtrack, right? Are you another Bradley hater? There's way too many of those I'm assuming the 5 songs you deleted are his solos dd
potent Posted December 30, 2018 Posted December 30, 2018 ASIB a surprisingly great soundtrack Yeah Drake’s album was too much, I liked some songs from the first half though. Need to check Everything is Love and Isolation. As for the songs my faves would be Stay Long Love You and Bullet in a Gun.
Pink Matter Posted December 30, 2018 Posted December 30, 2018 Ooh girl you didn't have to go so hard A lot of good stuff in here! Fave singles are No Contest, Rewind Time, Nobody, Curiosity, and Hope. Albums would have to be Geography, Amala, Room 25, EiL, and Isolation. All great
Jet Posted December 30, 2018 Posted December 30, 2018 Mariah did that with SLLY ASIB, EIL & Isolation are great albums as a whole with nice highlights

Kiss It Better Posted December 30, 2018 Author Posted December 30, 2018 20. Dua Lipa Peak: #1 for 1 week (in 2017) 2 #1 songs (Dreams, Want To) After I started to get into her music and her breakthrough last year, she dropped some new bops to keep her name hot. Starting with "High" from the 50 Shades Freed soundtrack then the summer hit "One Kiss", the singles from her album re-release "Want To" and "Electricity" and the other songs from the re-release. All of them are bops!! I'm looking forward to see how 2019 is gonna be for her... 19. Beyoncé Peak: #1 for 1 week no #1 songs This year, she dropped a joint album with Jay-Z which has been rumored to come out since like 2013. The album underperformed but it still got some bops and 3 of those which made it to my Top 80 Songs (2 are already revealed ). Beside, her demo called "Wake Up" which initially was gonna be on the same album as "Grown Woman" and "Standing On The Sun" leaked the same day as Ariana's version of the song titled "REM" came out, I honestly prefer Beyonce's version. Next year, she has Lion King and the soundtrack and it's gonna be a big year for her. 18. SZA Peak: #1 for 2 weeks 2 #1 songs (Supermodel, All The Stars) She didn't release anything new this year (beside the leaks) but Ctrl is still hitting me like it just came out yesterday the album is still so good. I was hoping for her to drop CTRL Deluxe this year but she didn't. It's okay though as long as she come through with a brand new album next year. 17. Drake Peak: #1 for 2 weeks 3 #1 songs (God's Plan, Don't Matter To Me, In My Feelings) This year was a HUUUUUGE year for him. 3 back to back huge #1 singles. #1 for more than half a year. Started the year with the 10 week #1 hit God's Plan which was surprising for me because when I first listened to it when it just came out I didn't think it would be THIS huge. Next, the #1 hit Nice For What which to be honest was the BEST #1 hit this year by any artists. The #1 album Scorpion. He almost had another #1 debut with Nonstop, too bad it was blocked by HIS OWN SONG, Nice For What. Last but not least, In My Feelings with the viral meme "the Kiki challenge". Also, Sicko Mode went #1 but idk if he's credited or not since he's like 1/3 of the song at least. If Nonstop went #1 he would've been one #1 song away from tying Katy's and MJ's record of 5 #1s from the same album I'm still pissed that didn't happen. 16. Janelle Monae Peak: #1 for 1 week 1 #1 song (Django Jane) A great year for her with the acclaim and all. I just got into her music this year, all 3 albums are awesome. First listen might be hard but second and third listen you'll get used to it and her music will grow on you eventually. She's really talented, I wish she had more success. Django Jane deserved Bodak Yellow success and Make Me Feel deserved the top spot for at least a week on Hot 100. Her Dirty Computer film was also awesome. I'm hoping she'll win both Grammys she nominated for next year. 15. Camila Cabello Peak: #1 for 1 week 1 #1 song (She Loves Control) I'm surprised she really won VOTY and the other big awards this year. Havana was a massive hit indeed. But I'm still upset that she didn't follow it up with She Loves Control, Into It and Real Friends (album version). She could've had a back to back top 15 hits if not top 10, but she chose to ruin the hype with the garbage Sangria Wine At least now she's just giving away gifts for her fan a generous queen ? 14. Nao Peak: #1 for 1 week 1 #1 song (Saturn (ft. Kwabs)) I thought this year she would pull a SZA and get a smash hit but too bad I was wrong. Anyway, she put out a great solid album this year with "Saturn". It has some songs that would smash on a Rihanna-Reggae album like Drive and Disconnect and If You Ever. I hope she'll at least get a nomination for this album on Grammy 2020, she deserves better. 13. Cardi B Peak: #1 for 1 week 3 #1 songs (Bodak Yellow, Finesse, Bickenhead) Another artist that had a major success this year. Coming off Bodak Yellow success from last year, she managed to get 2 more #1 hits this year with the summer hit I Like It and Girls Like You. Not to mention, according to points calculations from chart nerds Finesse Remix could've debuted at #1 too had it been released on a Friday. Not just the singles and collabs, she also released a solid debut album. Rooting for her big win at the Grammy next year. 12. Jorja Smith Peak: #1 for 2 weeks 1 #1 song (Where Did I Go?) Actually, I started to listen to 2 songs of hers (On My Mind and Teenage Fantasy) since last year after I discovered her from Drake's More Life album. I didn't like it that much. But this year, after her album was released I listened to those again, with the other singles and EP from her and wow... I loved it. 11. Ella Mai Peak: #1 for 2 weeks 2 #1 songs (Boo'd Up & Gut Feeling) She had an unexpected success this year with the pure R&B song "Boo'd Up" I never heard of her name before, so I was surprised that she could get a pure R&B song with very minimal production and 00s throwback sound a smash hit. Trip was also another hit for her. But I'm waiting for her to drop another single, the album doesn't have many potential hits left, probably just Gut Feeling and Sauce. But from her 3 EPs, there are Breakfast In Bed and Nobody Else that could be hits. Rooting for her to stay having smash hits in 2019 and also a grammy win for Boo'd Up.

Kiss It Better Posted December 30, 2018 Author Posted December 30, 2018 (edited) 30. Ariana Grande - thank u, next a video with 4 iconic movies references, it's really good but i wish they executed it better, not all over the place like this... made it into 2 or 4 videos with 1-2 movies references for each that could connect better to each other 29. Tove Lo - bitches (ft. Charli XCX, Icona Pop, Elliphant, ALMA) a video about mastering how to eat a p***y it's a fun video and so basically the song has 2 videos now sadly this didn't help the song on charts at all 28. Janelle Monae - I Like That the simpler video from Dirty Computer, i love the editing and all 27. Mitski - Nobody the video is might be creepy for some people (not for me though) i love the concept and all 26. Jorja Smith - On Your Own a magazine themed video, i love the editing, it's so interactive 25. Janelle Monae - Screwed (ft. Zoe Kravitz) part of the Dirty Computer film, it's a fun video it's like Make Me Feel video's sister with less choreo and all 24. Drake - Nice For What a video with cameos from so many female celebs, from Issa Rae to Letitia Wright to Emma Roberts... it's really dope 23. Ariana Grande - breathin a video that fits so well with the song, while the clouds scene could fit get well soon video tbh... too bad this is kinda get overshadowed by thank u, next 22. Bruno Mars - Finesse (ft. Cardi B) this was the first video that was released this year back in January 3rd 2018 i loved it so much back then and had it on rihplay for days, i love the 90s vibes which is from a TV show, In Living Color 21. Janelle Monae - Pynk (ft. Grimes) the most acclaimed music video from the album... didn't dig it at first but after rewatching it for many times it grew on me and now i get why this video in particular is so acclaimed and even got nominated for a Grammy rather than the other video from the album. Edited January 8, 2019 by Kiss It Better
Kiss It Better Posted December 30, 2018 Author Posted December 30, 2018 I wasn't a big fan of movies or TV shows actually up until 2015, Scream Queens got me into TV shows and start watching some TV shows like HTGAWM and Sense8 and Rihanna's Home movie got me to start watching movies a little bit but not until this year, I started to watch more movies, not much but more than previous years... why only 3? because I still haven't watched some hit movies from this year so yeah... this list is based on what i have watched ————————————————————————————————————————————————————— 3. Love, Simon Not so special but this movie is better than Call Me By Your Name!!!! PERIOD. 2. Black Panther It was my #1 movie of the year until I changed my mind and put O8 instead... My girl Letitia Wright did THAT!!! I went to cinema for the first time since 2015 because of this movie. It's really good, the production and editing too. Patiently waiting for the second movie... 1. Ocean's 8 Finally!!! A non Sci-Fi movie with Rihanna on it!! I have watched it twice on cinema, almost 3 times but when I wanted to watch it again it's no longer available on cinema. But then, I watched it again like 2 times at home. It was inspired by the iconic Oceans Eleven where Sandra Bullock (she's not just the lady from bird box!!!!) plays as Debbie Ocean who is Danny Ocean's sister. Rihanna plays as Nine Ball, a hacker (something I consider doing irl and now she's just making me wanting to do it even more ). The fact that they could get the job done with less people and all female is just... WOW. It kinda flopped though compared to Oceans Eleven and its trilogy. Though, I'm still hoping for Oceans 9 to happen also this is #1 might be because Rihanna is on it? idk.... maybe
Kiss It Better Posted December 30, 2018 Author Posted December 30, 2018 60. Normani & 6LACK - Waves better than Love Lies and it deserves Love Lies' success 59. Mac Miller - What's The Use? the song that standout for me the most from the album, the production is dope 58. Janelle Monáe - Screwed (ft. Zoë Kravitz) a fun bop with woke lyrics!! the rap verse is dope, that's like the intro to Django Jane 57. SG Lewis - Hurting (ft. AlunaGeorge) i knew SG Lewis first from the Magnets remixes (by Disclosure & Lorde) which is one of the best remixes EVER!! something about his production is just so... chill and awesome... and this song is just another bop from him and Aluna's voice>>>> 56. Dua Lipa - Want To Finally this song gets released didn't like the new first verse but oh well.... the demo version could've made it to top 40 tbh, though i still love it either way 55. Christina Aguilera - Unless It's With You a beautiful ballad that perfectly closes Liberation, when I get married I want this song to be played 54. Janelle Monáe - Don't Judge Me the first song that standout for me from the album back when I didn't dig the album that much, the use on DC film was really good too 53. The Internet - It Gets Better (With Time) a song that helped me going through the depressing September, truly the worst month EVER the lyrics is awesome also the rap verse from Patrick at the end woooo 52. J.Cole - The Cut Off (ft. kiLL edwards) a song about cutting off toxic people or people that are using you, the song came out at the right time when i was able to relate to it a lot 51. XXXTentacion - SAD! a relatable bop! glad that it went #1 on Hot 100... his second best song (after Jocelyn Flores)
Kiss It Better Posted December 30, 2018 Author Posted December 30, 2018 50. Ariana Grande - imagine honestly i wanted her to release "needy" first instead, but okay this has similar vibes and the whistle notes WOOOOOO LORD I would've put it inside top 30 if it wasn't released so late in December, though I know it deserves to be inside top 30 ANYWAYS 49. Azealia Banks - Icy Colors Change after she released the demo version last year, she finally released this officially... idk what's the difference yet but it's great nonetheless, the song is using my favorite track from Lone called "Airglow Fires" I'm mad that this is only #49 honestly I would put it inside top 20 but there's already too many AB tracks there #spoiler 48. Ariana Grande - God is a woman her best single this year (unless if imagine counts as a single) deserves #1 on Hot 100, i hope it wins the Pop solo Grammy next year 47. Mariah Carey - One Mo' Gen i hated it at first and until 3 weeks ago, i started to dig it and it became my top 5 on the album 46. Jorja Smith - Wandering Romance a great track from Jorja with relatable lyrics 45. H.E.R. - As I Am something about HER voice is just soooo good, and this song is soooo good, a perfect closer for the EP and maybe HER debut album next year 44. Drake - Nice For What even though it peaked at #2 on my chart but still it's the BEST #1 SONG THIS YEAR!!!!!!!! PERIOD. also the best song on the album 43. The Carters - NICE a Pharrell produced track, so y'all better put some respect on his name!! reminds me of Kitty Kat from B'Day a bit, i loveeeeee it!!! and the Lemonade-Spotify drag... best song on EIL 42. Christina Aguilera - Pipe (ft. XNDA) underrated bop, even Xtina herself paid it dust by not performing it on tour 41. Justin Timberlake - Montana it kinda sounds like Style/LMH/DWUW which I LOVE so much, hence why this was the song that standout first from the album's initial listen, i wish it was a single NB: I feel like I overuse the word 'relatable' but anyways it's relatable so who cares?
Remmy Posted December 30, 2018 Posted December 30, 2018 Artists: Dua and Janelle Beyoncé Videos: bitches, I Like That and breathin are alright. Screwed thank u, next + Finesse are pretty fun. Pynk "the most acclaimed music video from the album" Had it at #1 on my Best Music Videos list, too @Tove: "sadly this didn't help the song on charts at all" I think that was because the remix doesn't even compare to the original Movies: sfjsif Rih ha impact Ocean's 8 was just fine. Love, Simon + Black Panther were nice. But okay at this being a showcase of films that nicely represented genders, races and sexualities, we love that! Songs: Waves, imagine, Montana, Pipe Don't Judge Me + Unless It's with You NICE and Giaw Screwed
