Pink Matter Posted December 23, 2018 Posted December 23, 2018 Charli, MorMor, Hatchie, and Christine I wish I could say I enjoyed SiR's offerings this year but I didn't And I'm pretty good on never listening to another Post song
MP2K Posted December 23, 2018 Author Posted December 23, 2018 (edited) 80. Justin Timberlake, “Say Something (feat. Charles Chapelton)” Why is it important? While we didn’t get the country album that some hoped for (lol I was never here for the idea to begin with). This was JT’s best single of the forgotten era. The pair of singers created a harmonious union between pop and country. Sounds like: Bigger than what it actually was. 79. Pinegrove, “Intrepid” What’s it about? The excitement and frustration of trying to love someone while you’re still wrestling with your own insecurities and imperfections. Key Lyric/Bit: The lo-fi aesthetic and unpolished sound. 78. Maggie Rogers, “Give A Little” Feels like: Awkward white girl dancing offbeat in her room, living her best life. Why is it important? This is the closest thing to filling in for HAIM’s absence. 77. Shea Diamond, “Keisha Complexion” Sounds like: A funky ode to Tina Turner. What's it about? Colorism and what it means to show black beauty and trans women as desirable. 76. Nilüfer Yanya, “Thanks 4 Nothing” Why is it important? Her voice, the build up and her sucker-punching writing. What's it about? Rejecting an ex that won’t leave you in the past. MP2K Posted December 23, 2018 Author Posted December 23, 2018 (edited) 75. Childish Gambino, “Feels Like Summer” Why is it important? Decoding the meaning of the music video and all its cameos. It’s also a vibe. Feels like: Summer. The best and the worst parts. 74. Parquet Courts, “Wide Awake” Why is it important? What songs you know start off with shakers, cowbells and a conga beat, followed by a funky bass line that sounds like a New Orleans party? None. What’s it about? As fun as the song is, its subliminally about being woke. 73. Nao, “Make It Out Alive (feat. SiR)” Sounds Like: The year 2000, tuning into 107.5 WBLS. Why is it important? A sweet and mellow yet powerful R&B jam. 72. Drake, “God’s Plan” Why is it important? Hated this song for such a long time, then I was reeled in by my kids. What's it about? Drake’s ego – even though the music video is such a tear-jerker and supposed to be generous. Edited December 23, 2018 by MP2K
MP2K Posted December 23, 2018 Author Posted December 23, 2018 (edited) 71. Jorja Smith, “February 3rd” Why is it important? Genuine emotions pour out of this track and I’ve been single since God knows when… Key Lyric/Bit: Jorja coo’ing on the bridge. 70. The Weeknd, “Pray For Me (with Kendrick Lamar)” Why is it important? With the two being who they are, I expected it to be a much more epic song. However, it still had me excited for Black Panther/Black Panther Soundtrack. Key Lyric/Bit: Those dark rhythmic synths. 69. Ravyn Lenae, “The Night Song” Theme: “Ladies Night” & “Bad Bitches Do It” Key Lyric/Bit: Got my edges on tight, it's a party tonight / the adlibs 68. Troye Sivan, “My My My!” Sounds like: Written and produced from the perspective of a 2010 hitmaker. Key Lyric/Bit: The chorus. 67. LCD Soundsystem, “oh baby” What's it about? Sadly recognizing the relationship is coming to an end. Feels like: The sunset sky filled with beautiful hues of fiery orange and yellow, mixed with some pink. 66. Snail Mail, “Full Control” Why is it important? The gutsy chorus really hits me. What's it about? Inner-conflict. Edited December 23, 2018 by MP2K

Green Posted December 23, 2018 Posted December 23, 2018 Say Something was just ok for me. I personally prefer Filthy.
Tom Vercetti Posted December 23, 2018 Posted December 23, 2018 Say Something should've been motw's lead single. Wide Awake February 3rd is Jorja's best song. Pray for Me and Night Song are also pleasant.

lhdang2000 Posted December 23, 2018 Posted December 23, 2018 Say Something is one of the best songs in the album. God's Plan was cute, it was overplayed a lot tho.
