Scotty Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 (edited) Welcome to Scotty's Hotty 100! ? ? 2018 was kinda exciting. In my personal life, this was my first year living in Nashville. On ATRL, I was the winner of the Halloween game this year. ? ? All while continuing to worship Stephen Amell. ? Hence this banner. ...You know what... I'm working with a semi-defective mouse and graphic design is my passion. It is what it is. This is also my first Best Of list. I haven't been able to keep up with everything released, the concept of this list is mostly songs released in 2018 plus some tracks that were new discoveries for me in 2018 which I bopped to. Hopefully a unique and fun variety mix is what we get. I have a folder of favorited songs on YouTube just for this occasion. Don't really have a schedule, I'm also hosting a rate at the moment, but this will be updated actively. Edited December 18, 2018 by Scotty

Scotty Posted December 11, 2018 Author Posted December 11, 2018 (edited) #100-#91 __________________ #100. Poppy - Aristocrat LISTEN Poppy's "Alejandro" that I noticed sounds a lot like Down Under by Men At Work. It's a playful, whimsical bop with a brushstroke of mystery. Not the most original, but a decently good track. __________________ #99. Side Chick Syndicate - No Excuses LISTEN Weird story: I was searching for Cobra Starship's Good Girls Go Bad on Spotify and I found a song by the same title by this guy whose stage name is 'Side Chick Syndicate'. Lol. That song is pretty catchy and from 2018, but in 2017 he released a song called No Excuses which is... better. There's something innocent about this song. The bridge is actually so cute and the best part of the song, that starts at 2:20. This guy was just an unknown discovery by me this year, it's no Top 10 but it's worth a mention. __________________ #98. FWLR - How We Win LISTEN Monstercat always has good songs, plenty of them, I came across this one and it's a fun stand out. A bit basic but it's cool. This song makes me almost want to touch a steering wheel. __________________ #97. Dinah Jane - Bottled Up LISTEN This is a cute lil booty poppin' bop and haters can seethe. __________________ #96. Azealia Banks - Treasure Island LISTEN Miss Banks has done better, but this is still a bop. It's like if Jaws (Dr. Luke) meets mermaids (Azealia). __________________ #95. Samantha J - Your Body (Physique Riddim) LISTEN (EPILEPSY WARNING!) Before Dua Lipa was little Rihanna there was Samantha J... at the end of 2017 she released this cute jam. The video is a huge epilepsy warning though, coming for Porygon's wig. __________________ #94. Troye Sivan - Dance To This LISTEN I'm not a huge fan of the breakdown part but this is a cute song with nostalgic 80s vibes. __________________ #93. Tobtok & Adrian Lux - As I Sleep LISTEN The lyrics are repetitive and a bit stalker-y... but it works! This song is like being in a trance. __________________ #92. Gorillaz - Hollywood LISTEN I'm impartial to the Snoop Dogg feature but otherwise this song is dark and funky. __________________ #91. Sabrina Claudio - Don't Let Me Down LISTEN Smooth, catchy and beautiful to listen to. Not everyone has that. __________________ Edited December 11, 2018 by Scotty

jacklovesyou1 Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 I listened to Bottled up when I was drunk one time it seemed ok tbh but I never came back to it
Scotty Posted December 11, 2018 Author Posted December 11, 2018 (edited) #90-#81 __________________ #90. BROCKHAMPTON - NEW ORLEANS LISTEN This FIRE! This is the intro track to their latest album Iridescence. To me this song says "don't ****ing cross me. I have a city behind me." __________________ #89. DEV - Skinny Dippin' LISTEN I didn't discover this song until the first week of this year. I guess I was too obsessed with her song '#1' to notice she had released an album without that glorious song on it. But anyway, this is a cute summery track and honestly pretty different in style for DEV. It's more laidback than punchy. The horns are kinda punchy, but it's refreshing she lets the music do the talking for once. This song makes me want a fruity alcoholic beverage. __________________ #88. Buttress - Tenth Plague LISTEN On that note, this is a song from the end of 2017 I discovered this year as well when people were saying Iggy copied this chick for some reason. This song is kind of a kii but also knocks. Wig, I feel this. And it's female empowering. ? __________________ #87. Panic! At The Disco - Hey Look Ma, I Made It LISTEN This definitely won't be the only Panic! song on this list. I'm a sucker for darker lyrics in an otherwise upbeat song. Pray For The Wicked has a lot of that going for it. I like the Macarena sample in the chorus. __________________ #86. Savoy - Let You Go LISTEN This is a cute synthwave song I stumbled upon. It's a vibe. Kind of a night-driving song. __________________ #85. Human Touch - Promise Not To Fall LISTEN This is that song from 13 Reasons Why Season 2. The vibe is kind of nostalgic and adolescent. A deep, heartfelt but somber song. __________________ #84. Stephen Puth - Sexual Vibe LISTEN I think this would be the most recent song to make my list. He just barely squeaked in. This song is a mature bop while still youthful in spirit. It's very beachy and fun. __________________ #83. Top Hat - Solace LISTEN This song was a discovery I made this year. Discovering this song was incredibly hard, took me all night the day I did, because it's an instrumental lol. A really amazing one though! Very chill vibe. __________________ #82. Sam Bluer - Body High LISTEN A gay bop! Both brisk and majestic. We have decided to stan. __________________ #81. Kim Petras - Tell Me It's A Nightmare LISTEN "Be careful what you wish for." Ugh this spooky bop, she and Dr. Frankenstein did that a bit. __________________ Edited December 11, 2018 by Scotty
prézli Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 I heard some of Kim Petras songs because she was popular during one of Survivor's rounds. She's okay.
ATRL Moderator Tsareena Posted December 11, 2018 ATRL Moderator Posted December 11, 2018 #96. Azealia Banks - Treasure Island #94. Troye Sivan - Dance To This #91. Sabrina Claudio - Don't Let Me Down also wait human touch she has an album out and it's soooo good.
Tom Vercetti Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 New Orleans is alright, and I do like Treasure Island. Unfamiliar with some of these other ones
Scotty Posted December 12, 2018 Author Posted December 12, 2018 (edited) #80-#71 __________________ #80. CupcakKe - Quiz LISTEN This song is so on point. Like, I've been impressed with CupcakKe on other songs before but on Quiz she ATE this track. Her voice and the music fit together perfectly. One of her best non-outrageous songs. __________________ #79. Poppy - Fashion After All LISTEN There's something about the stoic, deadpan delivery that works here. Then she sings lightly for the chorus and it's like a hardness vs. softness. I can't say I've heard many songs like this one before, it's unique and fiercely confident. __________________ #78. Samantha J & Gyptian - Picture LISTEN This is my last Samantha J song on this list. I think this was a little overlooked actually. It's a cute and catchy bop, the music has a distinct sound, I do really like the chorus - it grew on me. I sort of wish the guy wasn't in it though. __________________ #77. Travis Scott - SKELETONS LISTEN The trippy Tame Impala beat. and The Weeknd. icanheargod.gif Oh and Pharrell bye. __________________ #76. MGMT - She Works Out Too Much LISTEN So I guess we're entering a psychadelic portion of my rate. The vocals on this track kind of remind me of The Buggles meets Paul Simon. The music itself sounds like some kind of twisted Lavender Town theme at times, also features both 1980's and robotic dialogue. The story is sad but also kinda humorous though. __________________ #75. Sonique - It Feels So Good (Andrew Brooks Remix) LISTEN This was a 2018 discovery not a new song. I'm linking to Soundcloud cause the YouTube video I had favorited got removed. Anyway this is a soulful BOP. I feel like this is what Azealia Banks thinks she sounds like in her head when she sings. __________________ #74. ZHU - In The Morning LISTEN Same story, this was also a 2018 discovery for me. This is a chill, sexy dance bop I came back to frequently this year. Touch me in the morning I'll tell you while you're moaning, baby There's something in this water So drink it 'til you're falling for me Touch me in the morning __________________ #73. Bruno Mars & Cardi B - Finesse LISTEN Bruno and Cardi teamed up to make some nostalgic magic and succeeded! This song's catchy and very fun. It's easy to get hooked on Finesse. __________________ #72. BROCKHAMPTON - HONEY LISTEN This song is straight fire, sprinkled with BROCKHAMPTON's trademark eccentricity and a Beyoncé sample. It's also like 2 songs combined. A million reasons to get rich, my _____. 50 did it right (right), 50 did it right __________________ #71. Ariana Grande - borderline LISTEN One of the few good songs on Sweetener. I don't know why it's so polarizing. It sounds nostalgic to the early 2000's but also a little futuristic too? This song stands out in a good way to me on the album and in her discography. __________________ Edited December 12, 2018 by Scotty
Scotty Posted December 13, 2018 Author Posted December 13, 2018 (edited) #70-#61 __________________ #70. Panic! At The Disco - The Overpass LISTEN This song immediately stood out to me on Pray For The Wicked. It's a light-hearted, jazzy song that makes me think of that scene in Grease where they race cars. This song also might reference boys in drag, progressive King. __________________ #69. 6ix9ine - MALA LISTEN The next few placements are some controversial people so...get prepared for that. Fittingly for #69 we have 6ix9ine. I think Mama is a good song, but to me the real gem on Dummy Boy is Mala. It's a funky, Latin-infused bop. __________________ #68. Bhad Bhabie - Gucci Flip Flops LISTEN Listen... this song goes hard. Gu-Gucci flip flops, f*** it, hit your b**** in my socks And the music video concept is amazing. I wonder how older (younger) generations would have reacted if a song like this randomly came on the radio decades ago. Probably not too kindly, but the juxtaposition is funny. __________________ #67. XXXTENTACION - Moonlight LISTEN This song (and video) is like the current rap sound meets M Night Shyamalan. The beat is trippy, cosmic/alien and exotic sounding. There's a melancholic beauty about Moonlight and the song is appropriately titled. __________________ #66. SOPHIE - Faceshopping LISTEN (Epilepsy warning?) Listening to this song is like being knocked out, strapped into a black chair and then forced through a car wash that also doubles as a haunted house. It's like listening to the America's Next Top Model theme song on psychadelics. __________________ #65. Kim Petras - Heart To Break LISTEN Much different from Turn Off The Light, VOL. 1. The songs Kim made previously are girlier "pretty pop". This song is about as girly and pristine as it gets. It's a moody, glittery dance bop. __________________ #64. The Midnight - Crystalline LISTEN Crystalline is a beautiful mix of modern music with retro sounds. It features a Phil Collins-like drum sound that prefaces into a big 80's sax solo. The song is incredibly atmospheric. __________________ #63. Troye Sivan - Bloom LISTEN ...which leads me to Troye Sivan's "Bloom". Atmospheric and intimate with a not-so-well-hidden meaning. Bloom is a vulnerable and celebratory confession of love. __________________ #62. The Chainsmokers - Side Effects LISTEN Ooh, You're all that I want No good at giving you up C'mon and give me some love tonight Side Effects is a fashionably upbeat love song. And a total bop. I was impressed when I heard it and the remixes are pretty good too. The Fedde Le Grand Remix specifically. The production reminds me of Lemaitre's song "Wait", which is a song I love. __________________ #61. Drake - In My Feelings LISTEN One of Drake's many achievements. The smart mixing of In My Feelings is where the song shines. It also feels personable. A colorfully nostalgic ass-shaker, In My Feelings is just a really good time. __________________ Edited December 13, 2018 by Scotty
Bubble Tea Posted December 13, 2018 Posted December 13, 2018 Dance to This, Tell me It's a nightmare, borderline, Heart to Break and Bloom are my fave tracks so far. Kim Petras has had a MASSIVE year and I am so excited for her future releases. Troye has also really glowed up! And obviously, Ariana is literally on top of the world right now with her 4th week at #1. Queen.
Scotty Posted December 13, 2018 Author Posted December 13, 2018 (edited) #60-#51 __________________ #60. Iggy Azalea - Savior LISTEN Iggy's delicate-sounding comeback. The song is more toned down and sensual than we're used to hearing from Iggy. It's super smooth and easy listening. __________________ #59. Ariana Grande - the light is coming LISTEN I appreciate this song more than I did when it was first released. Ariana made something different and in my opinion it works. This song is as surreal and dream-like as it is serious and about making a bold statement. __________________ #58. Panic! At The Disco - One Of The Drunks LISTEN Still not the final Panic! song on my list. One Of The Drunks is a silly song about a sad subject. It's about how boozing has its consequences. You can end up somewhere you don't want to be if you aren't careful. __________________ #57. Tinashe - Prisoner LISTEN Prisoner is demo track from Joyride that leaked in full this year. Not an officially released song, but I had it stuck in my head for days. A really good, epic pop song that unfortunately didn't see the light of day like it should have. __________________ #56. Post Malone - Psycho LISTEN Psycho has a chill and strongly catchy melody and Post's voice is like a warmth on this otherwise 'co-o-o-o-old' track. __________________ #55. Childish Gambino - Feels Like Summer LISTEN An ironically relaxing and subtle tune about some seriously deep and dire topics that plague our planet. __________________ #54. Nile Rodgers & CHIC & Lady Gaga - I Want Your Love LISTEN The official version of this song was released this year. Different and remastered since the last time we heard it. It's still a vivacious bop and Gaga fits nicely on this reworked classic, breathing new life into it. __________________ #53. Poppy - Am I A Girl? LISTEN Good ole Poppy tongue-in-cheek breaking down gender barriers. The song is pretty badass and asks important questions. Am I a girl? Am I a boy? What does that even mean? I'm somewhere in between __________________ #52. MGMT - TSLAMP LISTEN A psychadelic song about how cellphones can cripple a person. While you drain your phone battery your phone drains you. I'm laughing that the Scream-like expression the clown on the cover is making is the same one Poppy's making on her album cover. __________________ #51. Kelela - Waitin (Kaytranada Remix) LISTEN The strings are so heavenly. The best remix of a song since Britney's Overprotected Darkchild Remix. __________________ Edited December 13, 2018 by Scotty

Scotty Posted December 13, 2018 Author Posted December 13, 2018 (edited) #50-#41 __________________ #50. Sigrid - Sucker Punch LISTEN Sigrid's uplifting but hard-hitting banger for when you're walking down the sidewalk. Sucker Punch is about the emotions that come with falling in love, the good and the bad. __________________ #49. AURORA - Queendom LISTEN A serene song about living in a peaceful world where everyone can bake cakes filled with rainbows and smiles and we all eat it and be happy. __________________ #48. Nicki Minaj - Chun-Li LISTEN ...and the complete opposite of the above song. Nicki Minaj dons her infamous Chun-Li persona and raps about the dominating force she is. Bitch, it's King Kong, yes, I'm King Kong This is King Kong? Yes, Miss King Kong __________________ #47. BROCKHAMPTON - J'OUVERT LISTEN Joba snapped on this song. That's kinda his thing, but the male angst is strong in this one. White cuffs, wood grain Money in the suitcase on my way to the bank On my way to the bank, on my way to the bank On my way to the bank, suitcase F*** what you think, and f*** what you heard I feel betrayed, you can keep the praise __________________ #46. Just Kiddin - Body Talk LISTEN A lesser known song for some of y'all probably. It's a sexy bop. I don't know if it makes me want to workout at the gym or in the bedroom more. Actually, how about the dance floor. __________________ #45. The Weeknd - Privilege LISTEN An ill-disposed song about going through a separation... with Selena Gomez. __________________ #44. The Carters - APES**T LISTEN The song's a flex about being rich af. __________________ #43. SOPHIE - Immaterial LISTEN SOPHIE's Immaterial is simply heavenly. I don't think our human species deserves this song or her but here it is. __________________ #42. Caroline Kole - What If (Dave Audé Remix) LISTEN What if you did what Caroline? What if you did WHAT? This song is surprisingly enough a heaux bop! Whoa-oh, I did - I did You might like it Whoa-oh, I did - I did What if I did? __________________ #41. Tove Lo - Cycles LISTEN Shhh she just released the music video this month. Cycles is a really touching song. I think everyone at some point in life feels like they're going through a cycle. This cycle is about someone who falls in and out of love/relationships. grindr gays can't relate. __________________ Edited December 13, 2018 by Scotty

Scotty Posted December 14, 2018 Author Posted December 14, 2018 (edited) #40-#31 __________________ #40. MGMT - Me and Michael LISTEN Originally written as 'Me and my girl' the lyric was changed to 'Me and Michael' to be more thought-provoking. Me and Michael Solid as they come Me and Michael It's not a question now __________________ #39. Childish Gambino - This Is America LISTEN Easily a classic song even upon release. A look at the violent reality and terror many blacks are forced to endure living in America. __________________ #38. Ariana Grande - no tears left to cry LISTEN An important song in Ariana's career. I think it was an appropriate and tasteful release following the Manchester attack. __________________ #37. Nicki Minaj - Hard White LISTEN Originally leaked as "Half Back" but retitled "Hard White" with the release of Queen. One of Nicki's hardest songs to date. I love the effects on Nicki's voice, they remind me of retro video games and bring back good memories. __________________ #36. Panic! At The Disco - High Hopes LISTEN This will be the second to last Panic! song on this list. High Hopes is a motivational smash that's energizing and spirited. Shoot for the stars and make your dreams reality is the message. An anthem for pushing yourself to be something greater. Pretty standard, but it's a pretty sweet song in itself. Especially that heart-tugging pre-chorus: Mama said don't give up, it's a little complicated All tied up, no more love and I'd hate to see you waiting __________________ #35. Kim Petras - In The Next Life LISTEN Kim embraces her darker, evil side in this song, in English and in German, before bravely facing her death. __________________ #34. Poppy - The Rapture Ball LISTEN The best bang since the big one. Poppy's Rapture Ball sounds like the skeletal moments just before and after an apocalyptic event that ends us all. Except with a fancy red carpet and lots of expensive jewelry. It also serves as an anthem for outcasts and weirdos. __________________ #33. XXXTENTACION - SAD! LISTEN This song sounds like a demonic marching band is playing. It's pretty dope and the chorus knocks. __________________ #32. Camila Cabello - Havana LISTEN Havana is an irresistably catchy and seductive banger with an air of mystery. About falling in love and being swept off your feet and into the future, but still missing home. __________________ #31. SILENT POETS - Asylums For The Feeling LISTEN A 'lie down and watch the world turn' hymn that will leave you thinking deep thoughts. Asylums sounds like it's meant for a Twilight soundtrack, but it was featured in a trailer for an upcoming video game called Death Stranding. __________________ Edited December 14, 2018 by Scotty
Scotty Posted December 15, 2018 Author Posted December 15, 2018 (edited) #30-#21 __________________ #30. Travis Scott - SICKO MODE LISTEN Listening to SICKO MODE, I really do feel like I'm in the mind of a schizophrenic or something, no offense intended, the song switches up the beat often and leaves you on your toes wondering what will come next. __________________ #29. Calvin Harris & Dua Lipa - One Kiss LISTEN Dua Lipa is like an angel or siren on this dreamy club banger. One Kiss is all it takes, fallin' in love with me... she tempts. __________________ #28. Panic! At The Disco - Roaring 20's LISTEN A speakeasy-like anthem written about Brendan's Broadway experience and the mania of being in your 20's. Hallucinations only mean that your brain is on fire If it's Lord of the Flies in my mind tonight I don't know if I will survive... Lighters up if you're feeling me Fade to black if you're not mine 'Cause I just need a sign or a signal inside... __________________ #27. BLV - Badunkadunk LISTEN 9 to 5, it'll steal your soul Need the rhythm to get your flow Dat badunkadunk need some fire No badunkadunk can't be tired This song really makes me want to roller skate while voguing. __________________ #26. Halsey - Without Me LISTEN A song about picking someone up when they're feeling low, putting them up on a pedestal and giving them love and support they need only to be taken advantage of and cut off and ghosted. __________________ #25. Gorillaz - Sorcererz LISTEN I like the whole song but the end of the song is lit. __________________ #24. Clean Bandit - Baby LISTEN A Latin-flared dance floor stomper about a potential love that never got the chance to spread its wings and take flight. __________________ #23. Poppy - Immature Couture LISTEN Mysteriously absent from her album Am I A Girl? (probably because of homophobia) yet the single uses the album art as its cover. The song is actually a fierce CACKLE in the face of homophobes and a powerful LGBT anthem. __________________ #22. E^ST - Blowjob LISTEN A surprisingly tender song that is somehow also a bop. The song is about a frustrating relationship where one partner wants love, the other wants sex. He's reaching climax () and E^ST is reaching her breaking point. I have to wonder: How do things end? __________________ #21. Janelle Monáe - I Like That LISTEN A personal song about feeling yourself and being free to like whatever it is you want to like. __________________ Edited December 15, 2018 by Scotty
prézli Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 I'm sorry, but Gorillaz is over. Their album was bloody awful (the second worst for me this year). Janelle tho ?

Scotty Posted December 17, 2018 Author Posted December 17, 2018 (edited) #20-#11 __________________ #20. Kim Petras - Turn Off The Light LISTEN Kim and Elvira team up to resurrect pop music in its purest form. To first become alive, one must be dead. __________________ #19. The Weeknd - Call Out My Name LISTEN The Weeknd begs to be taken back in this emotionally honest and darkly desperate ballad. __________________ #18. Silk City & Dua Lipa - Electricity LISTEN I wanna let you know, I’ll never let this feeling go This love has no ceiling, I cannot deny Dua dances over a nostalgic-yet-current house beat and shouts to the skies on this energizing bop. __________________ #17. Bebe Rexha - I'm A Mess LISTEN Bebe happily admits her own craziness and insecurities in this self-deprecating bop, but in the back of her mind believes everything will turn out alright, that is - if her therapists are to be believed. __________________ #16. Ava Max - Sweet But Psycho LISTEN Ava notoriously channels popstar Gaga a bit in this classic-on-arrival bop. I heard this song while I was at the dentist and started smiling like an idiot. __________________ #15. Robyn - Honey LISTEN I'm not using the single cover because I like this. Anyway, Honey is dreamy, exciting and infectious. Robyn is like a lustful light in the dark, teasing her lover closer and bringing them into her daze. But the age-old message here is refreshingly candid. It reminds me of Zayn's PILLOWTALK if it were a classier 80's dance track. __________________ #14. Azealia Banks - Anna Wintour LISTEN Azealia looks chic, sings poetically, raps exceptionally and dances confidently over a thumping house beat. The song also works as a high-energy fashion runway track. She radiates a retro coolness and showcases herself as an all-around talented individual. The music video feels raw, almost like it's an audition. You can get a sense of how badly Azealia wants to be recognized, she's a fiesty feline who will claw herself a spot amongst the biggest stars if she has to. Mark her words: She'll be sitting next to Anna Wintour someday. Diamonds and dreams come true for girls like me. __________________ #13. Poppy - Hard Feelings LISTEN Am I a replica of someone that you loved? (Someone you made me to replace) Am I a replica of someone flesh and blood? (Someone you made me to replace) Hard feelings, you got my circuitry bleeding Am I a man or machine? If I can never love, why do I have hard feelings? This song plays into Poppy's robotic schtick, but with AI, robots and technological breakthroughs happening it's surprisingly relevant and deep. This is obvious but the lyrics could be applied to real life, namely the line about being a replica. So many people are becoming replicas of each other on social media, or we look for qualities of those we love in other people or potential dates. This is just something I noticed, but the lyrics kinda sound like they could be from the point of view of a sex robot. The 'P' inside the triangle on the cover could be interpreted that way. __________________ #12. Drake - Nice For What LISTEN I think it's fitting the music video features end credits because this entire song really does sound like it was made for the end credits of something. I mean that in a really good way though! There's a timelessness about this song for that reason. Much like In My Feelings, the production here is really cool (sh I'm a Britney stan) and it all works together perfectly. __________________ #11. Clean Bandit - Solo LISTEN Demi wins one of my favorite lyrics of this whole year. Since you've been gone I've been dancing on my own There's boys up in my zone Anyway, I was very let down by the music video. It's just complete garbage. It's not a hot mess just a huge turd. It has nothing to do with anything and it doesn't fit this masterpiece at all. The music video took a bubbly approach to the song rather than an artistic one. I'm not gonna sit here and pretend like the lyrics are brilliant although they are tongue-in-cheek, I just think it deserved bigger and better than what it got. The bridge of this song is beautiful yet in the music video some chick is cooking food for her boyfriend that turns him into a rainbow-colored dog when he eats it, then she goes skate-boarding with the dog. WTF? I- __________________ Edited December 17, 2018 by Scotty
