Vxspertine Posted December 26, 2018 Posted December 26, 2018 As always love your aesthetic and your OP We don't really have the same taste in music but I still really enjoy your writeups and countdown I'm All Ears and Oil deserved so much better though
lhdang2000 Posted December 26, 2018 Posted December 26, 2018 IoP really surprises me. What I like about this album is how Cardi keeps it short and cohesive unlike most rap artists.
ATRL Moderator Legend E Posted December 26, 2018 ATRL Moderator Posted December 26, 2018 I still didn't check Cardi's record, maybe I should
ATRL Moderator Tsareena Posted December 27, 2018 Author ATRL Moderator Posted December 27, 2018 30 - 26 Quote Lily Allen really did that for me. I wasn't expecting much since Sheezus. No Shame is confessional and very tongue in cheek which is what I enjoy about Lily's music. Also the mix of genres from afrobeats to pop ballads while staying cohesive is done very well. Come On Then works so well as an opener and is easily the standout for me. Serves: Come On Then, Higher, Everything To Feel Something Quote I'm considering this an album tbh. Aurora really takes her sound to the next level on this. Very immersive sounds that make me feel like part of her little fantasy world. Gorgeous vocals and production. I remember someone compared this to Lungs by Florence and The Machine which I really see now. Can't wait for Step II Serves: Queendom, It Happened Quiet, Gentle Earthquakes Quote I robbed this tbh. Literally love every track on this now. The production and vocals on this were really great and made the album for me. Really well put together tracks that feel very Mimi like A No No and The Distance with some fresh and different sounds like Giving Me Life (Blood Orange and Mimi, a match made in heaven) and GTFO. Serves: All of it!!!... 8th Grade, One Mo' Gen, Portrait Quote Junglepussy remains consistent on this. The production is slower and a funkier on this but remains her raunchy self as you'd expect from someone whose stage name is Junglepussy. One of my favorite rappers but she stays underrated smh... "Wanna f*ck me so bad but you're never gonna"... "I think I like him more than I like Trader Joes" Serves: I Just Want It, Trader Joe, All Of You Quote Gorgeous debut album from Jorja. The song writing is so good and the production on most of this really interesting and varied. I like the themes of young love, reality not meeting expectations and especially Blue Lights (bitch the emotions on this!!!) and Lifeboats. Very introspective but still tied to what's going on today. Serves: Blue Lights, On Your Own, Lifeboats.

I had the same view of CARDI B but I'm glad she smashed my expectations away. I agree that the bops are the best part, but I think Be Careful (of the deeper songs) is really underrated. I will forgive Kimbra being so low due to the fact that she's under my favorite & lucky number oh wow my mind on Kimbra 6 hours ago, Green said: Cardi surprised me with Invasion of Privacy. I'm glad someone liked JP3, to me it felt like she was on autopilot. Caution should be higher!!
Tom Vercetti Posted December 27, 2018 Posted December 27, 2018 I don't use any of these albums tbh but Jorja's and Mariah's each had some alright songs to offer.
TheWayWeWere Posted December 27, 2018 Posted December 27, 2018 No Shame and Caution ugh, probably one of my favorite albums this year Come On Then is indeed one of the best openers
Dom Posted December 27, 2018 Posted December 27, 2018 No Shame is lowkey fantastic, Lily deserved more this yea
ATRL Moderator Tsareena Posted December 27, 2018 Author ATRL Moderator Posted December 27, 2018 10-6 Quote Starting out my top 10 EP's of the year with Hatchie. Such a great EP. The dream pop elements really makes this standout from other debuts this year. Her melodies are gorgeous and nostalgic.Really excited to hear more from her. There's no weak track on this and it grows on me every time I listen again. Serves: Sleep, Sugar & Spice Quote Another EP from someone I need a full length from ASAP. Sticky was such a great lead so I had to check out Rabyn's EP. Gorgeous! The production is interesting and Ravyn's vocals are so beautiful. Steve adds a lot to the two tracks he's on.. and he did that on the production . There's really no weak track on this and I found myself playing this endlessly when it came out. Serves: Sticky, Computer Luv Quote Gorgeous debut EP from Ariel. Really cute production and gorgeous vocals. Something nostalgic about this and I found myself playing this a lot when it came out. Reminds a lil of Sky Ferreira but a lot more pop with cleaner hooks. Excited to see how her music career goes. Serves: Slower Than Usual, Mine Quote Heard a song from then randomly from Spotify Radio and loved their sound. Great melodies, writing and really fun production. All 4 songs are great and I'm lowkey stanning their entire discography. Can't wait for their next album Serves: Pink Champagne, Strange Embrace Quote I liked their album quite a bit but never listened after the first time. However the side b EP, now that was a serve.. even made me revisit their album and stan a bit. Gorgeous voices and melodies. I literally broke down to the opening song 'I've wanted you' and well now we stan Serves: I've Wanted You, All That We Got

ATRL Moderator Tsareena Posted December 27, 2018 Author ATRL Moderator Posted December 27, 2018 5 - 1 Quote wrote them off as another basic indie pop band with chainsmokeresque songs but whew they did that on "Valley". Like every track grew on me . Gorgeous vocals, fun production and just really well thought out tracks. We have decided to stan Serves: Close, Other Girl Quote Sudan Archives really did that as well for me. Gorgeous distinct production. Who knew violins could be so modern. Sink is brilliant and highly recommended. Can't wait to hear more from her Serves: Nont For Sale, Pay Attention Quote I listened to this for most of the 1st half of the year and it's such a solid project. Love the mix of sounds and the song writing. Even the interludes were pretty interesting especially Poor Little Rich Girl. Serves: Caught, Stone Mountain (one of my favorite songs this year. so touching.. the lyrics punch a bit too hard) Quote AlunaGeorge kinda slumped with their 2nd album for me but Champagne Eyes easily makes up for it. Really varied production and great vocals as well. All the tracks hit so hard so I definitely recommend this. Serves: Faulty, Cold Blooded Creatures (Bryson Tiller actually sounds so good on this and something so epic about the track in general I love) and for my no. 1 . . . Quote kinda unknown but I have 100+plays for 4 song EP so it had be my EP of the year. Really interesting production, fun vocals and 4 super catchy tracks. Really in love with this project and my absolute fave from the project keeps changing. Starting with the lead "Stay Off My Mind"... with an addicting chorus that would make you think is a love song but it's really about missing a late friend ? . Then "In The Mood" such a fun banger.. muted verses to such a crazy chorus whew. 'Russian Soul" such an interesting track. The slowest track on the EP but the chorus is so cute on just chilling with someone you love "And it feels like it seems that when I'm with you, we become each other "... then the closing track "This Vibe" .. just so epic... that chorus whew gorgeous. Serves: In The Mood, This Vibe
Vilppu Posted December 27, 2018 Posted December 27, 2018 never heard of the #1 (or #2... or #4... or #5... st. beauty ik but only listened once) but i'll try to check it
