Hatchie, Moses and Wednesday?

Smerz has been on so many lists I need to check the EP out still

Posted

I guess I don't get galapagos as much of others. :katie:

I'm on verge of saying moses ep > aromanticism but that wouldn't be fair. Hatchie >> the sweet but psycho chick (but we already knew that)

Wednesday topping another EP list.

Hope y'all don't mind me replying and posting today's update a biT later, I'm quite busy atm. Anyway, here's a playlist of songs that almost made the main list. That doesn't necessarily mean they are placed at #51-100, that doesn't mean they are in any order either. Enjoy!

So glad you stan Japanese excellence even if I didn't enjoy that release that much.

Sugar and Spice, Cruel Practice :clap3:

I kinda liked the Smerz release but idk something about it made me not like it at the same time.

No Angel, Sand Castle, Your Teeth, You Know How It Is, Holding On (to my wig)... I like most of these songs actually, you snapped!

Smerz ughhhhh their serve! Same with Hatchie. Also Wednesday Campanella... they deserve! but also I only listened to it like twice in full ?

1010 Benja SL :kylie~1:

Smerz invented indieheauxs didn't they?

Hatchie was snubbed and I'm kinda shook at Wednesday Campanella being #1, but deserved

Might have to check out the first three EPs

Guess Two Houses was too ahead of its time for certain people :kylie~1:

I'm not familiar with Wednesday Campanella's discography aside from the last two projects so we're both in for a treat

Hatchie is officially the new it girl of ATRL. The payola worked :clap3:

Moses and Smerz snapped, I'll check out that Two Houses EP soon :celestial5:

I don't even think she had any payola yet, but she will definitely need some when her album comes out. Sis needs that exposure :jonny:

The fact that you two haven't heard that Smerz EP yet (well, Unoriginal has now, but the point still stands) is beyond me :rip:

That's not even close! I'm just impressed that something (or rather someone) that became a thing on ATRL got so successful

I got to see them live over the summer and it was so wild, I was so impressed :jonny: That probably made me appreciate Galapagos even more

Przez Pynk i Never Say Die myślałem, że Janelle i CHVRCHES może wydadzą dobre albumy, ale oh well, może następym razem

Spoiler

Starting off the song list with this bopT. Honestly I think this The Internet album suffers from being overly long and not being interesting enough at the same time (which is the same problem I had with their previous record). They really brought it with the singles, though, and "Roll", the lead is one of the grooviest tracks of the year.

Spoiler

I was having a hard time figuring out where to even start with this, because there's so much going on here - from the trippy lo-fi beat, which you wouldn't really expect to hear on a rap track, or basically anywhere in particular, to the tight lyrics and of course the raw performance.

Spoiler

When did songs about drinking c*m get so poetic?

Spoiler

If the rest of her upcoming album has as much elegance, timelessness and intimacy in it as "This Time Around" has, then we might be talking about a potential contender for next year's year-end list

seS7yI0.png

Spoiler

a) Why didn't this binch release an album this year? With this material that would have easily been her best record this decade :jonny:

b) I'm still convinced that The Weeknd is on this track

c) This:

Spoiler

This is such a weird track in the best possible way. Don't expect anything too crazy, because it's fairly simple. It's just the fact that it sounds like some forgotten 70s classic / contemporary r&b 00s crossover.

Spoiler

In the alternate universe this spent six weeks at #1 on Billboard Hot 100.

Spoiler

The way she sings line after line in a different way is so ear grabbing, she didn't have to snap that hard

Spoiler

I might be getting some songwriting challenge on RuPaul's Drag Race vibes from this (even from the delivery, especially during the second verse), but who said that's a bad thing? That aside, what I really love is how careless she is on this track and how the production just GOES for it.

Is that your only roisin song?

Posted

oh yes stan sticky and boys :smitten:

You really snapped with those HMs tbh. Way too many to list but Your Teeth In My Neck and Rage of Plastics would have to be my favorites there :clap3:

And you kicked off the list so well with Roll (I do think Hive Mind can be samey (or not as interesting all throughout) but I think that's what I like about it most). I'l have to disagree about Ego Death also being samey though.

JPEGMAFIA was one of those albums that never quite held up for me throughout the year so I don't really remember that particular song lol

soil had like two songs that didn't absolutely annoy the **** out of me and cherubim wasn't one of them :flower:

Absolutely agree with your writeup for Sticky. Nothing more to say :clap3:

Jakuzi Rollercoaster is low-key my favorite out of Roisin releases this year

I meant the first three EPs in your list :skull: but I've also only heard her last two projects so let's celebrate that

Anyway, kinda shook that some of these HMs didn't make your list, but the amount of TALENT in that playlist is just... :jonny5:

Baby I'm Bleeding, Hand It Over, Boys (a #1 smasha btw), SureHatchie :jonny5: They did what they had to do

Love seeing Ravyn, JPEG, Hatchie and Serpentwithfeet on the top 50!

However... Spells didn't make the top 50. Neither did Malamente. You discuss me!
