Never heard of Deafheaven but I really enjoyed that track so I'll check out their album

:alexz:

OCHL is a great album, but I'd say the worst out of their ~relevant~ albums (aka the last three)

And I like the GH title track.

They did what they had to do on dark spring.

As everyone else mentioned, the first part of that snail mail description was accurate.

Paramedic! was alright, but given the fact that neither nothing else on GANGIN or anything on GANGIN II was as good as Carpoolin', I'm afraid they might be a one song wonders for me

Oop, looks like that's general consensus on miss Mail :fan: Critics lost!

Interesting Robyn and BH picks, at least they're unique!

I never listened to that DJ Koze pick, I just heard the al bum once and trashed everything that wasn't with Roisin Murphy lmao

Mess, not when one of the Roisin tracks would be one of the first to go if I were to delete something off of the album

"Nobody" is an unusual ode to loneliness. After reading the lyrics, but before listening to it for the first time you might think you're about to hear the most depressing song of all-time, where in fact it's quite the opposite. What's funny is that "Nobody" is really confusing in its simplicity. Even though it's pretty straightforward and more or less follows a traditional pop song structure, I remember thinking to myself "why is there so much going on here? This is going in a hundred directions at once." Maybe that was because I wasn't prepared for the unexpected synth funk that brings to my mind the excellence of "Uncle ACE"? Honestly, who cares.

We need rappers like her. On "Pearly Gates" miss Girls proves she's able to insert humor into a sensitive topic in a tasteful way, without crossing any lines. She essentially sings about power abuse and sexual misconduct that happens right before you enter heaven's gates, which is very...specific, but you get the metaphor. But what absolutely sells this song is the sense of similarity that once you realize revolves around the g-funk classic "Regulate," blows your mind completely. Like, how tf do you come up with that?

McMahon is an exceptional songwriter. While on "Blue Rose" he deals with the past, on "Believe" he deals with what's present. A part of our human experience is having to learn to let go (thanks Kesha!) and mister Dunes is letting us know that he's going through it right. This bittersweet song reflects on his mother, who got diagnosed with terminal cancer. But instead of feeling despair, he makes peace with what's eventually will come. "That's life, tho."

Whether or not you'd known Yves Tumor before "Noid," you were probably baffled upon hearing this for the first time. And this is why it makes so much sense with this being his debut single for Warp. It feels like a new introducion. Like an alien spaceship. It's this odd fusion of Lil Peep-esque (???) almost rap-like singing, glam rock, early Neon Indian AND late 70s disco. AND IT'S A BOP!

After last year's flop of an album, Fergie finally redeemed herself with a reworked version of an already iconic theme for The Wendy Williams Show. It isn't a mindless, quickly recorded mess, but a well-thought masterpiece. She brings new life onto "Feel It" by adding a new spin on the lyrics and showcasing her unbelievable vocals. She just owns it!

What could have been the best song of 2015, when SOPHIE debuted it during her DJ set, 2016, when it was supposed to come out, 2017, when it leaked, is the best song of 2018. It's just crazy how strongly it holds up over time. "Girls Night Out" is a celebratory anthem to carelessness and having fun. A true party classic.
