ngl, 2018 was a pretty weak year for music overall, but it did snap with a bunch of fantastic EPs

the following are some EPs I enjoyed but didn't have a place in my top 20 because they were outsold by their peers

Image result for Amber Mark - ConexãoImage result for Kaytranada - Nothin Like You / ChanesImage result for Ravyn Lenae - Crush

Image result for Okovi: AdditionsImage result for Peggy Gou - OnceImage result for Kero Bonito - TOTEP

Amber Mark - Conexão

After releasing her debut EP last year (which was included in my Best of 2017), Amber continues to evolve her sound

with this EP and shows significant improvement. It didn't stick with me enough to make my final list and I think she still

has place to grow, but I'm excited for what she has to come. Love Me Right is a highlight.

Kaytranada - Nothin Like You / Chanes

Honestly, I've always found 99.9% quite overrated. It's a nice album, but nothing new was really brought to the table.

The form of EP works quite well for him, and I enjoyed this EP far more than I thought I would. Every track is accompanied

by an instrumental only version as well, and I actually preferred the instrumental versions over the originals.

Ravyn Lenae - Crush

The first release from Ravyn to (rightfully) garner attention is a collection of groovy and lush neo-soul tracks, produced

entirely by The Internet's Steve Lacy. While some loved this more than I did, this is definitely an enjoyable listen and

leaves a lasting impression on you.

Zola Jesus - Okovi: Additions

Last year miss Jesus released one of my favorite albums of 2017, to say the least, and this year she shared a bunch

of outtakes from the album, alongside some remixes. It's quite clear why these songs didn't make the final cut, but

they still serve their purpose with this EP. The remixes bring a nice new dimension to the originals as well, although

not something that I would necessarily consider to be essential.

Peggy Gou - Once

Three really neat deep house songs which are quite hard not to bop to. I don't have much to say about this, but as

always I'm glad to see more WOC producers coming to the forefront and getting the recognition they deserve.

Hope she can really flesh herself out there with future releases.

Kero Kero Bonito - TOTEP

After building themselves a reputation as a bubbly electropop group, Kero Kero Bonito make a transformation with

this EP into a completely new territory for them which explores indie pop and noise. They fully emerged into it

with the album they released later this year, which may or may not make my albums list.

Negro Swan cover is so lovely yet the album is so boring.

I only found out a few days ago that Kaytranada had an ep but it wasn't really remarkable.

With the kkb album, there's not much need to listen to totep.

Posted

i'm probably the only person in the world who liked KKB ep more than the full album, ravyn was pretty good too

cant wait :)

Several points were made with Ravyn Lenae, Kaytranada, Peggy Gou and Kero Kero Bonitto :clap3:

I need to get more into EPs, I swear the only ones I listened to this year were boygenius and Hatchie’s :skull: will give some of these a listen

I've been meaning to revisit those Peggy Gou and KKB EPs but they were really nice from what I rihmember. KAYTRANADA and Amber are still on my queue, I need to get around and find some time to check them out. Zola and Ravyn snapped tho :alexz: But yeah, so many great EPs came out this year, I've been thinking of expanding my own list, which is already bigger than last year's.

I like Amber, EP cover is very beautiful, but I like her debut one better tbh, I still hope for album in future

Ravyn and Amber deserved spots on the proper list :fish2: I agree with you about the Kaytra instrumentals being better than the vocal counterparts but overall the EP didn't snatch me

Conexao and Ravyn not making your lists smh.

Kaytranada and  totep in hms is what they deserve (probably lower for me but )

don't know the other two

i actually loves the first four and some definitely have a spot on my list, i agree that kayrranada's instrumentals are better (especially that horrid ty$ song that becomes great when it's just kay). didn't like the kkb ep but i'm not a fan of them in general

i only know amber, but she is great, dunno others.
