Most are fair HMs. Santigold's album was so forgettable. :rip: She'll always have the best debut album of the 2000s I guess.

The fact that I've only heard 2 out of 50 albums makes me feel so uglee :rip: ye is a solid release + relatively underappreciated. Wasn't interested in Kimbra before but she's definitely grabbed my attention with Primal Heart, there's plenty of greatness on that.

:dies: ye was a fad but I enjoyed it when it was released and I still dig a bunch of songs from it, esp ghost town

50 honorable mentions :jonny5: The taste span you have :jonny5:

Tierra’s “ album” was too short to consider it as an album or even an EP. Even though it is ambitious, nothing sticks with you. I found Miya pretty meh, RINA teas. Hayden Casey - Golden Year served quality indie pop, title track was really catchy :jonny5: Surprised at Santi.t food not making your list, you loved that ****.. I LOVED Grouper, so wig. Damn girl you are serving nothin’ but taste, IDK what to expect from your album list WHEEW!!!

you know what? totally understandable, but after revisiting it I realize it's actually quite good even if not up there with their best and I like the fact they tried something new by getting rid of the usual aggressive/hardcore delivery and brought in new things. still over them though x

50. Puce Mary - The Drought

Death Industrial

Quote

Only very recently discovered this album so I'm glad I managed to sneak it in my list last minute. It's no surprise that the "Hope in Suffering" co-songstress and hitmaker managed to create an amazing and compelling, dense and abrasive album which almost plays like a soundtrack to a horror film.

Tops: all
Bottoms: none

49. Jorja Smith - Lost & Found

Contemporary R&B, Neo-Soul

Quote

Was expecting a snoozefest going into this album, and although I wasn't completely off, she managed to win me over. This album is more on the safe side, but it comes across as a fully realized body of work, whereas she could've easily released something that panders more to radio after some of her high-profile appearances prior to this album. I love the trip hop influences in the production throughout the album, and I think her voice really shines when she goes into her falsetto. Excited to see where she goes next from here.

Tops: Tomorrow, On Your Own
Bottoms: Don't Watch Me Cry

48. Hop Along - Bark Your Hear Off, Dog

Indie Rock

Quote

Never having heard of Hop Along before this year, the gorgeous pre-release singles left me really anticipating the album, and even though the singles remain among my favorites, it managed to come through and be as beautiful from start to finish. Frances has a very raw and distinctive voice, which really assists her in emoting every single word she's singing. She's backed by instrumentation which feels somewhat grant and often adds chamber in to the mix, and song structures which are surprisingly progressive at times while still feeling simplistic.

Tops: How Simple, Not Abel, How You Got Your Limp
Bottoms: Look of Love

47. Emma Ruth Rundle - On Dark Horses

Indie Rock, Singer/Songwriter

Quote

Following her fantastic 2016 album Marked for Death, On Dark Horses is somewhat a continuation of the same sound, but heavier and denser. It received comparisons to Chelsea Wolfe's earlier material, which I definitely see; they both have that sombre, atmospheric and ethereal sound, but it remains distinctive and within its own lane.

Tops: Races, Dead Set Eyes, Light Song
Bottoms: Fever Dreams

46. Nine Inch Nails - Bad Witch

Industrial Rock, Experimental Rock

Jorja's album nearly put me to sleep. And those last three adele'd tracks at the end :biblio:

I'm glad to see Hop Along on someone's list. They deserve the attention that Snail Mail received over the year.
