Sbbmsve Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 I loved Reshaped & Songs From Primal Heart, great remix EPs. My fav track from each would be: Black Sky & Mura Masa remix of Slip Away Quote Kimbra gorgeously reworks four songs off her third (and best) studio album Primal Heart If that ain't the tea Quote It doesn't sound as foreced or tired as Syro or Cheetah does. True, Chetoos sounded really forced. But I liked Syro, it was just fine.
World Eater Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 How on Earth have I only heard only two of these Guess I'm not done with catching up after all. Zola and PG snapped tho
ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 19, 2018 ATRL Moderator Posted December 19, 2018 I didn't listen to Glasser's EP because on streaming it was all one continuous song and I didn't like that concept The Remo Drive Ep looks interesting...

Uncatena Posted December 19, 2018 Author Posted December 19, 2018 (edited) Best EP's I didn't know where to put this so here it appears. Miss Murphy really delivered bop after bop with this series of four double singles. While she always toyed with house music in her music, last on the excellent Hairless Toys, this is her most straightforward fun collection of songs. This is so beautiful and calming, Spells is absolutely mesmerizing, so is the second track. The 10-minute ambient track is really captivating and magical, and the final song is such a cute little moment. This never comes close to anything on Blood Bitch, but it's a very cohesive collection of songs that feel like came from the same moment in time. Now THIS is what we call bangers ladies and gentlegays. This has so much energy and sexy, dark mood. It really gets going from the very beginning and keeps the momentum through the whole project. It's not super deep or anything, but sometimes it's nice to just have some fun and shake your thicc asses. This is SO gorgeous When I first heard the opening song, it reminded me of that Kiss Me song that still runs on the radio all the time. It combies sweet pop sensabilities with dream pop and shoegaze elements to create a really captivating and enveloping experience. The lyrics aren't super creative or fresh, but they do their job. The melodies are so infectious and catchy too. There wasn't anything released this year that was quite like Have fun, the second EP by Norweigan duo Smerz. Their whole aesthetic features american suburbia, but the sound is composed of minimalist and experimental R&B inspired industrial beats and it makes for one hell of a unique experience. It's super odd, sometimes sexy, but always danceable. I'm still picking up new details and my favorite song keeps changing. Edited December 19, 2018 by ChapelHooker
ATRL Moderator Unoriginal Posted December 19, 2018 ATRL Moderator Posted December 19, 2018 The Long Sleep, Sugar & Spice and Have Fun i've seen shygirl on a few lists so i should probably give it a listen i've only listened to blood bitch once but honestly i enjoyed the long sleep more than it

collin Posted December 20, 2018 Posted December 20, 2018 The Shygirl and Smerz EPs were absolutely fantastic. Aphex Twin... couldn't get into it.
Bubble Tea Posted December 20, 2018 Posted December 20, 2018 IDK these but congrats for finishing so speedily and with cute little graphics.
Uncatena Posted December 20, 2018 Author Posted December 20, 2018 North Carolina electropop duo return with their unique sound with a song about the damned state of the earth. This isn't as good as anything on What Now, but it's still a fun song with their unique wit and sound that I can totally jam out to. WHEW, a banger. This is one of the few times that the use of autotune doesn't bother me. I really, really love the lyrics on this one, they make me cackle. And the production goes all the way off!! Boo Boo wasn't bad but kinda... same-y, this is a great lead single. Probably her best song since Alaska. I liked her EP but I think she has more potential than she uses, this is one of the songs she released that really display her talent for songwriting. The tempo change still gives me chils and it was used so well here. Love the production on here too. One of the catchiest songs of the year. I discovered the song through the video (which is fantastic), but the song stands well on it's own. It IS a bit basic, but a very pleasant listen. A very nice comeback. After Emotion was hyped up the way it was (deservedly so), it was kinda impossible for her to release something that everybody would be satisfied with. I like this. It very much has that Carly DNA that makes it more than just a basic pop song, it's really charming, catchy, well produced etc. This is such a heartwarming listen. I really like how she uses melodies on this song. It's never overbearing or heavy handed, but still very pleasantly melodic and simple. The way Beyoncé out-rapped her cheating ass husband on this? Flawless. This really captures that distinct, stomach feeling of realizing you really like someone for the first time and it's so beautiful. It manages to do so much with very little and the synths at the end of the song give me chills tbh. The lyrics are a tad messy on this, not as bad as anyone says they are, but yeah. But the production and melodies??? And when it explodes into the hook??? That is what we called snappage bish. Gorgeous! I love how different this is in tone to most of her other stuff. It has a lighter, more optimistic tone, but still her distinct aesthetic. This just always takes me to another place in my mind, it's so dreamy.
TheWayWeWere Posted December 20, 2018 Posted December 20, 2018 Hatchie slaying another list :jonny: Sure is so great Roisin
Sbbmsve Posted December 20, 2018 Posted December 20, 2018 Wow such a great way to start your track list I am not surprised at Sylvan Esso appearing in your list They are so lucky that they have you. I’ve seen some negative reception towards Party For One, I was like honey that is a bop what u doin’? Quote The way Beyoncé out-rapped her cheating ass husband on this? Flawless. Girl I- Beyoncé really snapped tho (or her ghost writers, producers, singers etc). Sway was really a good pop record Love If We Made it & Spells... GAY RIGHTS. Also wig at your graphics... they are simple but clean.
Body Electrician Posted December 20, 2018 Posted December 20, 2018 Party for One was the biggest non event of the year I hope she's gone back to the drawing board because literally anything anything on Emotion/Side B is better LIIWMI
Navyofbadgals Posted December 20, 2018 Posted December 20, 2018 Party For One ain’t it apeshit goes off tho Natalie and Tove as well
Vilppu Posted December 20, 2018 Posted December 20, 2018 i ~think spells was the jenny song i liked the most from her but idk i don't rly remember that ep short court style is really good, in like 8 albums time, she'll have a bombass GH with all her leads
ATRL Moderator madonnas Posted December 20, 2018 ATRL Moderator Posted December 20, 2018 If you're gonna count Roisin's releases as an EP, shoulda been #1! The rest of the top 5 is great too though. I see a lot of praise for Toro Y Moi's releases this year. He lost me with his last release but maybe I should give him another chance? There are good songs in the songs update, but none that SNATCHED ME BALD (except maybe short court). Two of them will prob be on my list though.
Eeveelution Posted December 20, 2018 Posted December 20, 2018 Party for One was underwhelming for me ? However 45-41 are all good!
fossora Posted December 21, 2018 Posted December 21, 2018 The Long Sleep Cruel Practice I guess I really need to check Smerz too huh? Party For One APESHIT :sumn:
