They predicted that because they didn't know how it would do. They predicted 1,5m-2m for Adele because the numbers are too big and hype was too strong, they predicted 200k for Beyonce's ST because they had no idea how it would perform at all. but in this case, unless a big boost happens, i don't see this prediction being off. Those examples were anomalies, meanwhile this is a traditional release and Ed's US stats aren't even huge compared to UK. don't understand why people expected Drake numbers. (Well i also think he'll do 400k-500k SPS)
enchanted0 Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 Okay now I'm worried about Taylor's first week sales.

Nobody said he was anything close to Taylor, let alone Adele. That doesn't mean 350-400k isn't still extremely underwhelming.

blackbeatxx Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 If those numbers hold, i call FLOP. but i somehow find this hard to believe...
blackbeatxx Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 Just now, Exposé said: 350 - 400K in 2017 is ****ing MASSIVE Not in SPS for someone like Ed with the massive sales, massive hit in SOY and massive earlier streaming hits.
Starkboy Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 1989 was released in Fall 2014, 25 in Fall 2015. Comparing them isn't very right However I think hes gonna do more SPS wise
Fruity Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 3 minutes ago, Exposé said: 350 - 400K in 2017 is ****ing MASSIVE I agree it's big, don't get me wrong, but Ed is huge, this album campaign is huge, his previous era was huge, his single is huge. It's not ridiculous at all to have expected more, as most people did.
SilencePlease Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 (edited) I hope he doesn't sell too much. I don't like him as a person and his music is overrated. Edited March 4, 2017 by SilencePlease
Alex21kw Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 Anything below 500k is an underperformance. Of course other artists struggle as well and compared to them 500k is good, but I thought he had risen to Swift/Drake status in terms of album sales. WW he'll do amazing it seems

So this is HUGE for 2017! But haters gonna hate! Edited March 4, 2017 by BOOM!
Blue Rose Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 All the promo, I expected double than this at least.
blackbeatxx Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 1 hour ago, Unoriginal said: People trying to call this a flop when it's the streaming era and Ed's an album seller This is SPS. If it were 400k pure sales it'd be great.

thatsmydemi Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 (edited) Omg people saying this is low This is ****ing massive in 2017 As if many artists could do these numbers nowadays Edited March 4, 2017 by thatsmydemi
Rock That Beat... Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 I mean Ed only started becoming big after X. And now Shape of You is MASSIVE, but I bet many people have JUST been getting into him. Still this number is not what I expected.
