Ironically, at this same time, Sure Thing was smashing on rhythmic and R&B/hip hop formats, but couldn't quite make the crossover to Pop.

 

Pretty much a full circle moment to see Bloody Mary and Sure Thing both on the Pop chart 12 years later.

I never saw Bloody Mary working as a single, but Judas was obviously the strong choice. They should've just released TEOG as the second single and used Judas as a promo single. BM seems to be warming up to the pop audience though, hoping it can keep rising

The funny thing is that TEOG was originally planned as a US only promo single. That all went out the window when Judas flopped and TEOG debuted at #3 on the Hot 100. To be perfectly honest, there were really only 4 songs on the album worthy of being a single: BTW, TEOG, You and I, and Bloody Mary.
