Meanwhile. Lipa's "New Rules" breaks the record for the longest stay on Pop Songs, logging its 42nd week on the chart, as it dips 13-15. The single, which topped Pop Songs for four weeks in February, passes the 41-week run of, again, McCain's "I'll Be."

Here's a rundown of the longest-charting Pop Songs hits:

Weeks on Chart, Title, Artist, Peak Pos./Date
42 weeks, "New Rules," Dua Lipa, No. 1 (four weeks), Feb. 3, 2018
41 weeks, "I'll Be," Edwin McCain, No. 10, Oct. 17, 1998
39 weeks, "Slide," Goo Goo Dolls, No. 1 (two weeks), Feb. 6, 1999
39 weeks, "Iris," Goo Goo Dolls, No. 1 (four weeks), July 25, 1998
39 weeks, "Another Night," Real McCoy, No. 1 (six weeks), Nov. 26, 1994
38 weeks, "U + Ur Hand," P!nk, No. 1 (four weeks), May 19, 2007
38 weeks, "Smooth," Santana feat. Rob Thomas, No. 1 (eight weeks), Nov. 13, 1999
37 weeks, "Lights Down Low," MAX feat. gnash, No. 7, March 10, 2018

Oh honey, send your negativity elsewhere. She’s the closest we have to a pop superstar.

I wonder if I Like Me Better can join this list, it's been charting for so many weeks now.

Great for Dua! :clap3:

I’ll Be is a classic...

but yeah the the fact that Lights Down Low is here and I Like Me Better will probably join shows that this record doesn’t necessarily belong to well-known songs/ huge hits, so only time will tell, she could easily be a fad

What are the current recurrent rules for that chart? Have they changed since the beginning? Its always hard to judge these things.

New Rules is definitely gonna be the #1 pop song of the decade, though.
