Just know to anyone who knows about my parents that I thought they (specifically my father in this scenario) could not be worse but I've made a potential discovery that makes him 10x worse somehow but the keyword is potential because I don't know if it's actually true or not since I can't remember the most important part even tho I can remember everything surrounding it and I hate the uncertainty lol!

Contestant in PH5 (Top 5), PH6 (Top 6), PH7 (Top 5), PH8 (Top 4), PH9 (Top 20), DH (Top 12), 10.5 (Top 4), 11 (Top 10 - Forced quit ), 2 #1s, 2 PH Grammy Awards and I used to write poems when I was younger. I started writing actual lyrics in PH5 (2014).

 

3. Who are your songwriting inspirations?

Lana del Rey, Florence + The Machine, Marina & The Diamonds, Tori Amos, Sia

All you can do is try and start it and see what comes out. You might surprise yourself. And we all know the part about you not being talented is an utter lie.

Um. Well yeah very little but I do a lot of creative writing and songwriting is kind of just another strand of that so I feel like I can apply my skills there to this maybe? I've had to write poems and stuff for school and have written a few songs but they are pretty terrible and would be like... something San Marino would submit to Eurovision. 

 

3. Who are your songwriting inspirations?

I don't know really but my favourite lyrics are from Lady Gaga, CupcakKe, SZA and Sky Ferreira so probably them.

Definitely, @Kylie Jenner. I used to love creative story writing back in high school/college and of course loved music too, so always wanted to write a song but just never really knew where to start. PH was a great outlet to experiment and get quick feedback from likeminded people with similar interests in a somewhat anonymous way.

 

Most people don't realise, but your most helpful resource in this competition will usually be your rivals. We've rarely heard of people deliberately sabotaging others in this game, so if you can get a second or third opinion on your song before submission to the judges, it can really help you improve very quickly.

Also, songs will only be posted publicly in this thread and the ATRL Songwriter's Thread, and the creator will most definitely be credited. It will essentially serve as a "benchmark" to help others understand what the judges are looking for. But keep in mind, what works for one round might not necessarily work for another, depending on the challenge outline.

Okay, thank you  I love writing stories and roleplaying in particular, being in someone else's shoes in something I really enjoy and just exploring their thoughts and feelings etc. It acts as escapism I guess which I really love. Songwriting can be similar the sense that it can be used as a tool to tell a story.

 

considering the above, if anyone wants to be (or needs) a second/third pair of eyes for submissions then that would be helpful  I just don't wanna tank hens x

But ultimately, aside from having fun, Platinum Hit is all about personal improvement and the best way to improve from round to round is to get feedback and work up from there. Some people also say the best way to learn is to teach, so there's that too. There are other ways to improve, one person's opinion may not always align with yours or your style, but any sign of willingness to improve is worth admiring.

!!!! I definitely agree with this, I started helping other contestants last season with feedback and it really helped to highlight which areas I needed to focus on too! Also, it's a great way to give back to the community
