My song for this round

Translation

The lyrics would probably have been different if I wrote this in English

  Hide contents

My body is a desert and your memory is the sun
It burns me inside and my faith does not find a god
And I feel you close in the heart
But you escape me like reason

And I have to fly to a better place
I have to forget you
And no longer, no longer, no
I do not want to think about the coincidence
The way you are going

Let me go
And let me dream
Without you

I remember your steps every morning
I track your lips when I'm thirsty

But one day you will see that what I gave you, nobody will ever give
Heaven you will not reach, you will never know how to love, stop playing

Your heart
It will dry
Lonely

In your dreams you will see me
Like an eagle on cactus
Your salvation that you did not want to accept
A heart that you could not return

I will not trust
In my insecurity

Leave me alone
And let me fly
Without you

One day you will see that what I gave you, nobody will ever give
Heaven you will not reach, you will never know how to love, stop playing
One day you will see that for your love I lived, do look for me any longer
My hand will not reach, for you I will not sink, for you I do not live anymore

My heart
Will forget you
In the end

I will judge whatever entries I have tonight. May posts hints. But don't expect anything soon!

Ok I decided to just send my entry incomplete since I don't think I'll be able to complete it without it looking rushed but I might as well share what I was able to write. I'm upset that I wasn't able to finish it but oh well :katie:

Title: Cocoon

intro
The fabric of time
Weaves a gorgeous design
But a crevice inside
Has one thread unwind

verse one
It surfaced from its roots to conceive a new shape
It sketches a template and I'm drawn in the frame
It traces the outlines my feet leave behind
Then laces my legs so I'm wrapped in a bind
I reach for the design that's raveled by time
Yet feel its loose strand bury me to my thighs

middle eight
I view the silhouette and wish time could reset
This shadow of its depths that I just can't forget
But they come as a set, both the same shade of black
The loss of one strand won't gain the hues that it lacks

-couplet here probably-

I form a stream of tears that trickle from my eyes
And then feel the string swim and coil up my spine (was going to be edited after I made my other couplet)

verse two
-something about accepting the strand by decorating/stitching or something-

outro
The fabric of time
Had woven a design
But a thread from inside
Now has me confined

Explanation:

Literally on the same day PH was announced, I made a comment in a group chat about how my dad was accused by multiple people including my family of being a pedophile and molesting me. It was in a like ''there's no way tho'' way, but it made me think about it in depth and I realized that while I have no memories of any actual act, I have many surrounding memories and suspicions that add up to me believing that he probably molested me as a child. This was further exacerbated by me googling about symptoms of sexual abuse from a child and finding out that most children repress the memory so it's common to not remember it, and that I related to the symptoms so much.

As for how it relates to my song, I wanted to write a song that depicts my experience in a kind of abstract way so I'm not sure how open to interpretation it is (especially since it's literally not complete) but I will just share what I was going for when writing it. I wanted it to be about how there's something you've believed about someone or something for so many years but a memory resurfaces that you never knew could possibly happen. In verse one is the denial stage depicted by the harsh language and mostly the reaching for the original design. It's at the beginning stages of forming your conclusion on what happened thus the sketching a template/the strand catching up to you so you can't deny/run from it.

The middle eight is also a bit incomplete but it's supposed to represent coming to the conclusion that this strand/memory is NOT separate from the original entity and that it came from the original for a reason. This lays the groundwork for verse two, which was going to be the opposite of verse one in that it is about acceptance and fueling this memory or memories since you know that there's no way it can't be true anymore.

The outro is kind of basic imo I maybe would've spent more time on it as well but the main point was to parallel the intro where the intro was a loose thread/memory coming undone from the original figure while the outro has the new conclusion being completed.

Furthermore, I wanted this song to depict the slight uncertainty in that even though you don't have the most concrete memory, that doesn't mean you were not affected. It is still real even if it's only to you (the ''you'' being the one who gets wrapped by the strand). The song shows the strand wrapping around this person rather than the original design crumbling because while I cannot edit the original depiction of my father, I can create a new one that seems more accurate to me.

I like my concept so I'm upset that I wasn't able to finish it but I'm not going to stress myself out over finishing it by a deadline and I just wanted to share what I WAS able to come up with. If you made it to the bottom of that wall of text, then thank you for reading. :heart2:

Dont worry, I wrote my verse and chrous in 15 minutes, keeping my original pre-chorus, so it's nothing amazing and i expect to get dragged :cm:

The songs have been sent to radio and all major digital and physical distributors around the world. May the best songs sell the most.

There’s a few still in the recording and mixing process, they’ll be sent a bit late!

May or may not have read half of the songs. :cupid: I know there are still a few entries to come in but I'm stopping at the halfway point as it's really late but I wanted to get a good start on entries since this is going to be a new format and we're still ironing out the kinks as far as presentations and write-ups will go.

I'm going to wait until I've read all of the entries to finalise scores/"sales" and such but a number of entries have really impressed me so far! A strong start to the season.

This is partly why we didn’t include Africa. Delete this!

I'm p sure they're just an extra version of the n/10 rating

Kind of but a 9/10 song one week might not sell what a 9/10 song will sell on another, it’s more discretionary
