Starkboy
Ed Sheeran sets a new record on this week’s Official Albums Chart, becoming the first artist in UK chart history to have three different albums each log a whole year inside the Top 10. Since his arrival in 2011, Ed has consistently proven himself as an artist with staying power in the charts. The singer-songwriter’s latest album ÷ is Number 2 on this week’s chart, spending its 52nd week inside the Top 10. Ed’s debut album, +, has spent a total of 56 weeks inside the Top 10 since its release in 2011, while his second album X – also back into the fold today at Number 10 – has logged an incredible 98 weeks in the Top 10. Prior to Ed’s record-breaking achievement, The Beatles and Simon & Garfunkel were the only other acts to have more than one album spend a year in the Top 10. The Beatles managed it with Please Please Me and Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, as did Simon & Garfunkel with Bridge Over Troubled Water and their Greatest Hits collection. Meanwhile, The Greatest Showman’s Motion Picture Cast Recording is Number 1 for an eighth week on the Official Albums Chart, while Dua Lipa holds firm at Number 3 with her self-titled debut album, matching the peak it achieved after The BRITs last week. 1 (=) The Greatest Showman Ensemble - The Greatest Showman (Original Motion Soundtrack) | 8th week at #1 | 36.3k 2 (=) Ed Sheeran - ÷ | 15.2k 3 (=) Dua Lipa - Dua Lipa | 13.3k 4 (=) Rag'n'Bone Man - Human | 7.6k 5 (+5) Stormzy - Gang Signs & Prayer | 6.6k 6 (+5) Sam Smith - The Thrill of it All | 4.9k 7 (=) Justin Timberlake - Man of the Woods | 4.8k 8 (-3) Camila Cabello - Camila | 4.5k9 (=) P!nk - Beautiful Trauma | 4k 10 (+3) Ed Sheeran - x | 3.9k 12 (-4) Eminem - Revival | 3.6k 13 (-1) Little Mix - Glory Days 14 (+6) Post Malone - Stoney | 3.4k 15 (+12) Oasis - Time Flies: 1994-2009 16 (+1) Liam Gallagher - As You Were 17 (-3) Kendrick Lamar - DAMN. 19 (-4) Taylor Swift - reputation 21 (-2) Migos - Culture II 22 (+23) Imagine Dragons - Evolve 25 (+6) Sam Smith - In The Lonely Hour 26 (+6) Ed Sheeran - + 28 (-3) Drake - More Life 32 (NE) Vance Joy - Nation of Two | 2.3k 33 (+2) Oasis - (What's The Story) Morning Glory 38 (-5) Bruno Mars - 24K Magic Drake celebrates another week of chart glory this week as his latest single, God's Plan, extends its reign at Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart. Completing this week's Top 5 is Marshmello and Anne-Marie's collaboration Friends, up four places to 5. Justin Timberlake's Say Something ft. Chris Stapleton zooms 12 places to Number 10 following his performance at last week's BRIT Awards.
