He should’ve done a tour bundle. Then people couldn’t drag him.

We can’t be so sure seeing that SB barely had an effect. Which makes sense given that he didn’t promote the album there, Filthy was barely a noticeable performance. So this is great in my humble opinion. Yes I expected more but given that his peers have fallen so far off it’s not bad.

290k after Superbowl?

Posted

Though we initially expected it to bow as high as 700k+ (probably because we forgot to plug in our abacus), Justin Timberlake's Man of the Woods (RCA) now appears on track for a first-week total in the neighborhood of 275-290k total. Streaming accounts for less than 20% of that total. JT's Super Bowl halftime performance does not appear to have boosted the underperforming set.

It would be interesting to see if this album hits the million mark or has any kind of longevity in the US and WW, opening weeks mean nothing when it's all done & over, the weeknd opened with 348k and his album has only sold +650k so far.

But I am surprised by what's happening to JT because I've never thought I would see the day, he's always been sheltered from any backlash by the media like no one can criticize him or anything.

the fact that you think this is even decent. :biblio:

p!nk sold twice as much, without the super bowl.

also why are christna's lotus-sales in this thread? the album came out in 2012, it's been a while. sis would probs sell 20-30k today (en par with usher), max.

there's no better promo than the SB. he ****ed it up, yes, but he still did it.

and he has no one to blame for the hate but himself. actually, all of this happened way too late.

The Weeknd sold 209k pure in the week, the 348k number are SPS sales. But at least Abel went double platinum, let's see if Justin can do it.

Yes sorry I made a mistake, still the weeknd's total sales are disappointing but like you said at least his album has been streamed a lot.

Yes but I’m not sure why people are acting like the Super Bowl isn’t the biggest exposure an artist can get in the US. He had the luxury of doing the SB the same week his album dropped, no previous performer had the luxury to do that.

The fact that people logged onto iTunes, Spotify, and AM to buy/stream his past songs but chose not to purchase his newest album, which they would’ve saw first upon opening either platform and definitely after searching his name, really says it all about this album.

Next week when tickets are released will be a more complete picture, we’ll see if he bundles or not and how well the album is holding

20/20 did a little less than a million in 2013 with the strength of Suit & Tie.

I’m gonna be a bit conservative and say maybe 600-700k neighborhood. Do we know how much he did in preorders?

These #s are disappointing given his name recognition and super bowl exposure.

Aren’t tickets for the second leg going on sale next week? That’s what I’m referring to when I said we’ll see if he bundles.

Didnt Katy do some similar for her second week? I could be wrong but I thought I remembered reading on here she did a tour bundle to boost the 2nd week
