I mostly mean SIO being 14xPlat eligible, Blank Space diamond and IKYWT 9xPlat Thought it was sth like SIO 11xPlat, BS and IKYWT 8xPlat no its fake. Shake It Off is probably only 11x platinum. But I doubt its even there yet. Blank Space is near Diamond. The others are about right I guess. But still a little off. Edited October 20, 2019 by JawBreaker

On-demand streams and digital sales numbers for Shake It Off and Blank Space were reported by Billboard months ago. Vevo also reported the total views that Blank Space and Shake It Off have in the United States. What I am saying is that anyone with minimal knowledge of charts and math knows that BS isn’t eligible for diamond and SIO isn’t eligible for 14x platinum. This chart account is a shame

Exactly they came to the conclusion that its 14x platinum because Billboard reported it got 1B+ streams which they got from Nielsen. Nielsen counts everything under the sun as streams. But RIAA only tracks official songs streams from the artist.

But that 1.09B figure for SIO from Nielsen has to include youtube streams already. Cause theres no way it accumulated 1.09B+ with only subscription-based streams. Also, it was unavailable for almost 3 years.

But anyway I'm quite sure On-Demand streams reported by Nielsen includes everything. Considering songs like Havana was reported by Nielsen in June that it has 1.27B on-demand streams. But only got certified 7x platinum at the beginning of the year. If those "on-demand streams" were only subscription-based Havana would've been already certified Diamond.
sober Posted October 21, 2019 Posted October 21, 2019 The Nielsen/Billboard numbers is obviously including Pandora streams Shake It Off on pandora according to a random twitter account: 476,924,617 Shake It Off on VEVO: 517M Shake It Off on Spotify US: ~100M 476,924,617 + 517M + 100M = 1,093,924,617 Since RIAA doesn't track Pandora numbers it should stay at 9,9-10M units = 10x PLATINUM
GuusLima Posted October 21, 2019 Posted October 21, 2019 (edited) "Shake It Off" one month after winning the 8x Platinum certificate, before RIAA change the ratio (100:1 to 150:1) We can assume that the song had 320m~340m (8m RIAA units - 4.8m digital sales = 3.2m sales) streams. Now, let's back to 2019, the song has sold 5.4m digital sales (according with Billboard). According with Liz Kennedy (from RIAA), the current ratio are applied to all awards. 1,09B streams (reported by billboard) - 476,925M streams (Pandora) = 613M. if we assume the song has 613M streams, so... Streams: 613M - 320M = 293.075.000 Digital Sales: 5.4M - 4.8M = 600.000 The song moved about 2.55M (293M/150 + 600k) RIAA units since it was certified as 8x Platinum and is currently eligible for DIAMOND (10.5M/11M RIAA units) Edited October 21, 2019 by GuusLima

argos Posted October 21, 2019 Posted October 21, 2019 5.4m pure sales since 2014 with billions of streams on streaming services, the definition of hyper mega-smash hit
