For this weeks challenge, I chose the Tarot Ball as the runway I would visit - this runway was actually my idea but was implemented poorly by another, much less fortunate contestant. Ahem. I didn't specifically focus on what the 3 aspects of the ball were and took a general stance to make it easier to fit the challenge; the two tarot I chose were Judgement and Death, since I really wanted to create two contrasting looks; I initially imagined them as a sister act, with one dealing judgement and the other doing the deed. To reflect this in their looks, I intentionally chose Judgement to look quite minimal and regal to mirror judgement being quite binary and absolute. In contrast, death is quite messy, and graphic and sometimes dark, so I reflected that in the look with lots of black and rough edges, with scruffy hair and a general dirty vibe. For my redone look, I chose my Seven Deadly Sins look with Envy. I think my first interpretation is very... basic, so I wanted to do something a lot more edgy and detailed. For the general aesthetic, I wanted it to look quite disgusting and monstrous, but also elements that hint at something beautiful. The way the garment is wrapped is inspired by moth cocoons/larvae, and the feathers behind are supposed to invoke peacock imagery. I focused on these two creatures/ideas as they strike me as lesser versions of other creatures (butterflies, etc) that are envious of their beauty... this made a lot more sense in my head. I chose to redo the Monochromatic Colo runway from my season. Last season, I did a blue look with a magical girl concept, which turned out to essentially be a leotard with a long, crunchy weave. Originally, I wanted to stick with the magical girl concept because I thought it fit my aesthetic well. I decided to use the color pink, and as I brainstormed, I thought of sakura (cherry blossoms). I thought a cherry blossom themed outfit would be really cute. Then I realized that so far, I've never gone and done a full-on glamour look with a nice dress, so I decided to get my pageant girl on and go for it. I'm wearing a form-fitting, couture gown that shines and sparkles the house down. I have a cherry blossom corsage on my right hip, with petals falling and decorating my left hip. At the base of the dress, I have a train completely covered in beautiful pink flowers. It's almost as if I'm standing in a flower field. On my chest, I have a giant branch ornament fixed on, with branches surrounding me above and behind. Each branch is covered in the most beautiful cherry blossoms, and I truly make it rain on the runway. Along with my classic rhinestoned gloves and classic pageant hair and jewels, I am a vision in pink. Come sit, have a picnic on the grass, and bask in my seasonal glory! And make sure to bring a broom to clean up for the next girl. For my second look, I decided to take on the Tim Burton runway from Season 3. I mulled it over for a while, thinking about a Sweeney Todd look, to going way out of the box and serving Muppets or Batman realness. In the end, I decided to go for the classic Nightmare Before Christmas and do a Sally-themed look. I really wanted to avoid a basic cosplay look. So, I repurposed Sally's patchwork dress into a patchwork cape/coat that's stitched to my arms by the sleeves. To keep the look interesting and give myself shape, I gave myself a tight corset styled after Jack himself. Under the corset, I wear a see-through nude dress made of stockings that hits and dusts the floor. To keep the focus on the cape/coat and not make the look so busy, I stick with Sally's iconic straight and slick auburn hair. Along with blue body makeup, stitches all over, and my heels as black as night, I strut down the runway giving you full zombie-doll fantasy. I'm your worst and best nightmare with this fashion moment, giving you a look that immediately gives you Sally, but couture and sheek enough to avoid being merely a costume. My goal here was to rudeem myself from both last season and last week, and I believe I managed to do that with flying colors (pun semi-intended). I hope you all think so too. But, almost more importantly, every inch of my skin from the neck down is covered in splattered neon paint. My skin being this neon is indicative of the fact that the unworldly colorful stylishness of the movie makes up its base, with all the violence and drama set against a glowing background. As for my Original Season Recreation, I was left with no choice but the Mystery Ball, where we were to create an outfit based on our choice of an expansive pre-chosen selection of Scooby Doo villains. In my original season one entry, I did Lord Infernicus, and though I suppose I had the option of choosing another villain, I quickly came to the conclusion to stick with my hot-headed muse. While fashion isn't something I'm unfamiliar with, I'm still rather new to Photoshopping elements together. Here, I attempted to push myself out of my comfort zone and take a note out of @Aciid's sombrero libro by Photoshopping multiple elements together to the point of no recognition. I collected elements from Vivienne Westwood ( x & x ), Moschino ( x ), and Marchesa ( x ), among others, to create the gown-coat, a far more haute couture rendering of Lord Infernicus' ragged robe, a much truer creation than the black and orange dress from the original look. Gone is the black wig, and here, flames fly from both my head and my ***** (though I'd imagine in real life the headpiece would be made out of dyed and twisted saran wrap, spray adhesive'd into structure). While I still use red skull makeup, rather than using the $12.99 Hot Topic skeleton bracelets to imitate Lord Infernicus' skeletal figure, I chose large pieces of jewelry along my limbs, shoulders, and hands, white diamonds in their sharp designs in place of bones, and larger red stones to cover my firecrotch and nipples. Both looks serve a darker side of me, while still staying true to my drag by serving you high fashion/sex. I mean I don't think I'd have the balls to serve either of these looks last season, particularly the Mad Hatter one. Evolution is important (Kunty), but so is staying true to yourself. I chose both looks for different reasons, but ultimately I figured I could stretch my creativity outside my comfort zone. I initially was back and forth about doing a Tim Burton inspired lewk, but in the end I wanted to push myself further and be as creative as Possibly can. The redo look was the hardest part for me- it was either do two balls that I had either won or ranked high in, or choose something I didn't particularly stand out in. But the fashun challenges opposed from those and the Pokeball didn't entice me, so I went with the Pokeball LOL. Friendly reminder that I have only watched a handful of Pokemon episodes, and have never even heard of Elite or whatever the fck else, so I kinda went into this blind. Fire was probably the most obvious choice, but I think I did something completely different then what anyone else could've done, and for that i'm...happy. On my bald head, I wear a headpiece dripping with gold coins and beads, running over my ears and around my neck, edging past my chesticles. My dress has small gold plates all over it, which catch and reflect the bright lights to give my look vibrancy and shine. With a satin waist wrap and a strong black lip, I walk down the runway as if I have peasants cleaning up my footprints behind me. Ethereal but strong, mythical yet fierce, I serve face to the judges before turning on my heels and heading to the far side. Hands on my hips, I lean back and give them high fashion. Slinking back to the center of the main stage, I turn and walk away like a real queen.
