    Buffy "reboot" cancelled!

The undead population of Sunnydale can breathe a collective sigh of relief as a new slayer won’t be rising anytime soon. A reboot of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, this time featuring a Black actress as its titular heroine, has been in development since 2018 — but executive producer Gail Berman says the project is now “on pause,” as revealed in Friday’s episode of The Hollywood Reporter‘s TV’s Top 5 podcast. Original series creator Joss Whedon was also aboard this reboot as an executive producer, with Monica Owusu-Breen (Midnight, Texas) serving as writer and showrunner. Owusu-Breen previously wrote for ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., where Whedon was an EP as well. The reboot, which was referred to as “contemporary, building on the mythology of the original,” never had an official network home. There was some confusion, however, about whether the show would be a straight reboot or some sort of revival. Shortly after news of the reboot broke in 2018, Owusu-Breen stated that the original show’s beloved characters “can’t be replaced,” adding that she “wouldn’t try to” replicate the “brilliant and beautiful series.” Instead, she suggested: “The world seems a lot scarier [today]. So maybe it could be time to meet a new Slayer. https://tvline.com/2022/08/19/buffy-reboot-cancelled-black-vampire-slayer/ Are you happy with this news? I am! Midnight Texas was terrible and the cannon established makes a reboot completely unnecessary. Goodbye to you, buffy reboot!

    What's My Line? (1950-1967)

What's My Line? is a panel game show that started the long and successful run of Goodson-Toman produced shows - To Tell the Truth, I've Got a Secret, Match Game, Password etc. It originally ran in the United States on CBS from 1950 to 1967. The game uses celebrity panelists to question contestants in order to determine their occupation, i.e. "line of work," with panelists being called on to question and identify a weekly celebrity "mystery guest" while blindfolded. The moderator was John Charles Daly. The regular panelists were Bennett Cerf, Arlene Francis, and Dorothy Kilgallen. It is on the list of longest-running U.S. primetime network television game-shows. The show won three Emmy Awards for "Best Quiz or Audience Participation Show" in 1952, 1953, and 1958 and the Golden Globe Awards for Best TV Show in 1962. More than 700 episodes exist as kinescope recordings (filming a television screen in 16mm). Many early episodes were lost because of economic decisions made by CBS executives between 1950 and 1952. Every episode between July 1952 and September 1967 existed for a long time in the archive of producers Mark Goodson and Bill Todman, but some of these were lost in 1975. Interest for the show was reignited once it was put on YouTube by an individual who have voluntarily put almost all available episodes (over 700) in chronological order. https://www.youtube.com/c/WhatsMyLine It's literally a portal into 1950's and 1960's American, but also world's history. The number of important people that have appeared, poise, elegance, articulateness, the Mid-Atlantic accent I wanted to share my little treasure with you guys since I know how many of you would enjoy this.

  9. Netflix on Wednesday announced that the How I Met Your Mother vet’s new comedy Uncoupled will premiere Friday, July 29. In addition, the streamer dropped a teaser (embedded above). Created by Darren Star (Sex and the City, Younger, Emily in Paris) and Jeffrey Richman (Modern Family, Frasier) and consisting of eight half-hour episodes, Uncoupled follows Harris’ newly single Michael, who “thought his life was perfect until his husband,” hedge-fund manager Colin (The Boys in the Band‘s Tuc Watkins), “blindsides him by walking out the door after 17 years,” according to the official logline. “Overnight, Michael has to confront two nightmares: losing what he thought was his soulmate and suddenly finding himself a single gay man in his mid-forties in New York City.” Rounding out the cast are Tisha Campbell (Martin) as Michael’s business partner Suzanne; Emerson Brooks (The Last Ship) as TV weatherman Billy; Brooks Ashmanskas (The Good Lord Bird) as art dealer Stanley; and recurring guest star Marcia Gay Harden (The Morning Show) as Upper East Side socialite Claire. Sold on everything, this is right up my alley
  10. TBS cancels Full Frontal With Samantha Bee after 7 seasons. This is very sad indeed, because I liked her show. This is a sad consequence of the Warner Bros./Discovery merger. The Hollywood Reporter:
  11. Perched Premieres with 2 episodes a week on Fridays from August 19 to September 9.
  12. Is someone watching this show? the first 2 episodes were released this friday is SO GOOD 98% on Rotten Tomatoes 81 on Metacritic Also, Taron is SERVING body in the first episode
  13. Wanted to show this show some love since I think the old thread was deleted in the merge. Just finished season two and that finale was crazy with THREE twists. Definitely would have been hyped if on Netflix. Think Locke & Key meets Nancy Drew. Check it out! ???
  14. Anyone watching? I tried to look for a thread but couldn't find one. On episode 2 now (the first three dropped earlier this week) and it's quite shocking. Was not very familiar with the case but am looking into it now.
