On March 4th at 2:05 AM, Ed Sheeran was found dead in a pool of tomato sauce and unsold copies of his albums. Forensics suspect a homo-cide on our hands. Luckily, we’ve narrowed it down to a small set of suspects, but we need your help to figure out what happened. Can you help us solve the mystery? Welcome to ATRL Clue, hosted by Lemur and staryu! This is an adaptation of the board game Clue. In this game, you’ll be solving a murder mystery; the first person to figure it out wins the game and one month of Discord Nitro! (Or $5 in your Venmo) Be careful, though, because if you’re wrong you can die. To narrow it down, you’ll need to use your deduction skills to analyze the long list of possibilities. This season is pop-girl themed! ? Main Gameplay ? If you’re familiar with the board game Clue, this will be a pretty straight adaptation of that. The objective is to guess who committed the murder, with what, and where. There is a list of possible Suspects, Weapons, and Locations to choose from. Unlike Mafia, there are no roles; you all have the same objective. To start, each of you will be given three Clue Cards. Each Clue Card will show you an option from the Suspect, Weapon, or Location lists that is NOT involved in the winning combination. You’ll also be oriented around an imaginary table (i.e. put in a circular order). Each round, which occurs every 12 hours, every player can ASK about one suspect, weapon, and location combination that they’re interested in. To do so, the player must post “ASK: [Suspect] with [Weapon] at [Location]” in this thread. Starting with the player on your right, if they have a Clue Card that has either the Suspect, the Weapon, or the Location from your ASK, it will be revealed to you via PM. If that player doesn’t have a relevant Clue Card, it will move on to the next player on your right, and so on until there’s a match. At the end of the round, the results will be posted in the thread, but the info on the Clue Cards will be removed. For instance, the message would appear as “Player 1 ASKed about [Suspect] with [Weapon] at [Location]. Player 3 had a relevant Clue Card.” Then, a new round will begin. At any time, you can make a final guess in the thread by posting “GUESS: [Suspect] with [Weapon] at [Location].” If you’re correct, you win the game and the cash prize! However, make sure you’re confident before you do this; if you’re wrong twice, you will be eliminated. Eliminated contestants will then have their Clue Cards randomly distributed to other players. Note that if you ASK about the winning combination, you don’t win the game. It must be registered as a GUESS to count. ? Minigames ? If you want, you can stick to the main gameplay and still win the game. However, to spice things up, we’ll also be including minigames in the thread every two days (aka every four rounds) hosted by staryu. These minigames will be short and in a Let’s Spoon time-based style typically, and we’ll try to keep them on theme but no promises!! The winner of the minigame gets a special reward of their choosing from the selection below: BLOCK: During any round, prevent another player’s ASK. They won’t know they’re blocked until the round is over. ERASE: During any round, make it appear as though another players’ ASK had no matching Clue Cards. MOVE: Switch seats at the table with another player. ? Gameplay Tips ? Repeat Clue Cards: There will be 39 Clue Cards that aren’t involved in the winning combination, but 15 players, meaning 6 Clue Cards will be repeated. This is something to keep in mind as you’re tracking the game! Analyzing round results: Even though specific information is removed from the results posted in the thread, you might notice certain players always seem to have a relevant Clue Card when a certain detail is ASKed. That might suggest that they have that Clue Card! Fake-outs: Sometimes, it’s a good idea to ASK about information that’s on your own Clue Cards. If you have a Suspect and Weapon Card, for instance, you could ask about the two of them with a Location you’re interested in, which means you will be shown the Clue Card for that Location unless it’s in the winning combination. You can also trick people into incorrectly GUESSing combinations you ASK about by doing this! Pooling information – no!: it would be a very bad idea. Only one player will win, so there’s no use for alliances. Keep your info to yourself! ? The Clue Cards ? ?‍? Suspects ?‍? ? Weapons ? ? Locations ? ? The Deduction Sheet ? SAMPLE EPISODE • S1 THREAD Welcome back to ATRL’s Deal or No Deal! After such a fun first season & getting word that people who didn't play in S1 still wanted to, I figured doing a little something would be nice... so... we're having a Valentine's Special! HOW TO PLAY: I've attached a sample episode & the S1 thread above for anyone who doesn't know how the game works. It's mostly luck, so there isn't anything complex, but there is a bit of strategy involved - enough to keep things interesting. All games will be broadcasted LIVE here in the thread! At the beginning when each round is announced, sign-ups will open for timeslots, or “episodes”, of when you can play. Since I anticipate each game taking a bit of time (though I've gotten much quicker as S1 progressed), I recommend picking a timeslot where you'll be free about 10minutes before start time & 10minutes after end time as well. The objective of the game is simple: to select the case with the $1million amount out of 26cases presented. Since the chances of that occurring are quite low, there will be rounds where you will select a fixed number of cases (6cases to start in the first round, then 5cases for the second round & so on…) to eliminate from the game; here, the objective is to select cases with LOWER amounts of money in them. At the end of each round, the banker (also done by me) will present an offer to buy you out of the game — you can either say “DEAL” to accept or “NO DEAL” to continue playing in hopes that you can eliminate more cheaper-valued cases / have a higher amount of money in your case. As introduced in the reboot of the show, you are allowed to make ONE comeback offer to the banker per game you play (ex: the banker offers you $160,000 to end the game, you counter with $175,000). ALL formulas as to how I calculate offers and ALL cases’ values each game will be sent to a non-player beforehand to ensure fairness (I'll be using the fixed formula from S1). Attached is a list with all 26amounts of money that will randomly be placed into each game’s 26cases. Case Values: Since this is just a special, only 1round will be played - it'll be like one big mass round. 14players will each play 1game & whoever earns the highest amount of money / scores the highest will win the entire special. It's pretty simple! WINNER'S PRIZE: We can't have a special game over the weekend of love without prizes! The same options as S1 are offered, but if there's something you're especially coveting, we could definitely work something out. SIGN-UPS: You'll find all the timeslots available to play this weekend in this spoiler. Please let me know which timeslot you'd like to play in when you sign up; if you just say "Sign me up!" & other users claim slots I'm afraid I'd have to give them priority. Welcome to the ELEVENTH season of one of ATRL's biggest games -- Let's Spoon! _________________________________________________________________________________________ This tournament is based on the iconic card game Spoons, as described here: _________________________________________________________________________________________ This card game will be converted into an ATRL game! The overall concept is simple. You will compete in various challenges, and the first person to complete the challenge will be guaranteed a spot in the next round. After this person wins the challenge, the first spoon will be posted in the thread. Once you see the "First Spoon" in the thread, all of the other players must post the word "spoon" in the thread. Pictures or other creative representations of the word "spoon" are acceptable, as well. Posting your spoon now becomes the only way to save yourself and advance to the next round. Similar to musical chairs, there will be one less "spoon" than there are players in the round, and the last player remaining without a "spoon" will be eliminated. If more than one player does not post "spoon" before the next challenge, all of them will be eliminated, or there will be a vote from the contestant who won the challenge. This game will require you to be an active player! If you are not active, there is a good chance that you will be eliminated early. As far as times goes - there is a new twist this season. More details will be revealed soon, but essentially, the cast will be split into two groups. One group will have their daily challenge at 9 AM EST and the other group will have their daily challenge at 9 PM EST. I am excited to see how this addresses the international time zones issue from prior years.  The challenges will be LIVE. Remember, you want to be the first person to complete the challenge. You will also want to be aware of what is happening in the thread during the challenge period, because it could become a "spoon" war very quickly. Players who are a little slower/in a bad time zone will have until the next challenge (24 hours later) to post in the thread. Back by popular demand and after three delightful seasons by Bagels, Clue and Miguel (All of which I LOST) I decided my true calling was to host and well here I am (Feat. Clue) to find out who will take the crown this time and become ATRL's Next Top Letter Vanisher. Now in case you're new... Every round I will ask for either a song, single, or album track. Song can be both a single or an album track, whereas a single needs to be officially released as such (promo singles included), and an album track cannot be officially released as a single Every round I will then give you a few "vanishing letters," and these letters cannot appear in either artist’s title or the song title or sometimes both (this part will be specified round-by-round). Following tradition artists will be banned throughout this season after being used three times and the songs used in the previous TWO seasons will be banned, that's right we're unbanning songs used in bagels ha season. And what are those songs you might ask? a list will be provided with each round post don't worry. Every round the cast will not know what others have sent in, you will need to rank the songs from best to worst, and the judges will do the same. The person with the highest average wins the round, and the people with the lowest averages will get the chop. Important: Unless I have time and I'm feeling generous I'm not checking your entries for you so make sure they're not banned and don't contain any vanished letters.   5. Prologue: The North Pole is under threat. Santa Claus had no qualms about safety during a pandemic. But as a result, he could not allow his elves and reindeers to risk their health in the name of productivity. The Christmas magic at the North Pole have waned with the dual threat of the pandemic and global warming but Santa is determined to retain the magic of goodwill and happiness. Meanwhile near Whoville, The Grinch have sensed his opportunity to finally destroy Christmas. He assembled a team of powerhouses that will help him do just that... In America, a legend’s power was growing. Much like Santa, Mariah Carey's power reaches its peak around Christmas. In fact, her power might be even stronger this year as more people simply just want to be with their loved ones as she so sing in her legendary song. She have recruited others who share her goal of making sure everyone is having a festive time no matter what. Concept: This mafia game is a mostly closed set-up in which characters may or may not be known but all powers are hidden. There are TWO mafia teams in this game. This mechanic will be explained further in thread. No role-madness this time so please don't whine about not having some sort of power. Literally do NOT. Complain to your mother/father Gameplay: For the most part this will function as a regular mafia game except the threat is double. Town wins when ALL threats have been eliminated. One of the mafia wins when they reach parity with town AND eliminate the other mafia team. 3P have their own hidden win condition. Looking for 25 - 28 players. If I get more than 28, I'll close sign-ups and start asking for subs. Mafia teams are "evenly matched" and that's your only hint. Phases will be 24/12 (24 hours Day, 12 hours night.) I am aiming for 6pm/6am MST for end of phases. A countdown timer will be provided at the start of each phase. If for some reason I do not post at the end of phases, you are not to post in the thread past the deadline. 12 hours can be difficult to check in sometimes so if you have an ability you can send in your action to me earlier before Night even start. - I expect to start around maybe next weekend. The game will probably go on for at least 2 weeks but most of you will probably be eliminated by then Every player must place a vote. Failure to vote twice in a role will result in your disqualification/replacement. To make it a bit more fun, both Gift Wrap Dessy or Lynch Dessy will be valid votes. Be sure to bold and underline your vote or it will not be counted. The following are grounds for DQ: - Failure to vote for a player twice in a row as stated above. - Failure to make 3 substantive posts each cycle (1 Day + Night Phase). A substantive post is basically any post that isn't just fluff, votes, or one-liners. Activity have been a problem in past mafia games and this is literally all it takes to at least appear to be contributing each day. I WILL be tracking how many of these posts yall are making, so I will warn you first if you are missing this. - Targeted harassment, bullying, name-calling, etc. No tolerance here, instant dq. Simply don't be rude. - Posting yours or other role cards will result in immediate DQ. - PMing players (dead or alive) about the game will result in immediate DQ. My last game suffered from this and it was super upsetting to multiple people. Simply don't do it - Talking about mafia a lot in Discord. This have been a minor issue but even a small comment about the game can be picked up on by any skilled player. First is a warning. A DQ will follow. - As always we still follow ATRL rules in here so do that. Players are removed from the game when they have been lynched, killed, or DQ'd. You will enter a dead chat but no information will be revealed to them. Any ties will be randomized. - There will be roles that enable them to chat with players outside of the game thread. - No posting of screenshot you received from me. Mafia players will have cover roles. - Anyone communicating on desktop discord casually is reminded to not screenshot their entire screen (this goes for both town and mafia). This will reveal your "servers" on the sidebar. I’d been a massive fan of the show when it was hot back in the 2000s and since it’s been recently revived on television, i thought it’d be nice to bring it to the forum. The foundation of the game is luck; while I will be implementing a few exciting twists to invoke some strategy, it’ll never overpower the luck-based / easy-to-play nature of the game. Now, who’s ready to hear how the next month of money will go down?! HOW TO PLAY: All games will be broadcasted LIVE here in the thread! Since I anticipate each game taking a bit of time, especially in the earlier rounds when more players are in the game, the amount of games played / shown each day will be a bit limited, but still enough to give our viewers some entertainment. My favorite thing about the game’s format for the players is that because of these sign-ups and how one round will take several days to complete, you’ll only need to invest about an hour over a three-day / two-day period to play the game, which is real convenient since everyone’s gotten busier with coursework and careers since the summertime.   8. Welcome to the Faguette Region, home of Pokémon Bingo! This game is basically just your standard bingo game but with a couple pokemon twists, the main twist being POKECOINS! The object of this game is to obtain 100 pokecoins and become the Pokemon Bingo master! To obtain pokecoins you just have to get bingo! Bingo round winner - 20 pokecoins 2nd/5th - 10 pokecoins 6th-10th - 7 pokecoins 11th-15th - 5 pokecoins 16th-20th - 4 pokecoins 21st-30th - 3 pokecoins Everyone starts with 5 pokecoins, also there are NO eliminations. There is also a Poké Mart! Poké Mart items MUST be used BEFORE the round begins, you can use items on yourself or on others. You can only buy one of each item per round and you can only use one item per round. The items last for one round.     ATRL's TRIO SEASON 1 | Round 8 Posted!!

    Welcome to Season 1 of ATRL Trio hosted by me Not Like the Movies (go easy on me.mp3, it's my first time hosting a game here x) Summary Each round you are given a theme and each players must send three songs which fits the theme, thus making them a trio. You must send three songs that fit the theme, failure to do so would result in not getting your songs approved. For example: The theme is Sex Example trio: Bon Appetit- Katy Perry, S&M-Rihanna and Rocket- Beyonce. Rules - You can only use an artist once in the entire game, so if you use Taylor Swift in round one, you cannot use her ever again in the game. - Players can have the same songs in their trio as long as their entire trio is not identical. For example: Bon Appetit- Katy Perry, S&M-Rihanna and Rocket- Beyonce and Bon Appetit- Katy Perry, S&M-Rihanna and Lady Gaga- Sexx Dreams will both be accepted as they both have one song which differentiates each other, if a player sends an exact same trio as another one, I will notify them. - Songs will be banned after they are used in a round, so think outside the box. - There will be no judges. The game is entirely voted by members of the forum and the players. HOWEVER, cheating and asking your friends to vote for you will not be tolerated and I will be keeping an eye on the voters list to ensure that no random and strange users are voting. Keep it fair please. It's all fun and games. - Each round, you vote for your favourite trio that is not yours.   10. Touch the fashion, change your life! It's finally here! No one else was willing to host so here I am, ready to do a completely satisfactory job with ugly formatting! HOW TO PLAY This is another ATRL fashion game, but this time the fashion we'll be judging is not a celebrity's but your own! Each round you will create an original look based on a prompt we give you. With your look, you can include a short, one-paragraph description explaining your work. The person with the worst look each round gets the boot, and the last remaining designer in the competition takes the ATRL Project Runway crown! There's a number of ways you could present your looks to us. The easiest is to use Google Images to make a collage of the pieces you would combine to create your look. However, if you use this method, you must include at least three separate images for your look. For instance, you could show us a hairstyle, a dress, and a pair of shoes. You can also use alternate approaches. You could draw an outfit, either physically or digitally. If you have a bunch of cool clothes, you could even wear the outfit yourself! However, this is not a drawing competition. We are judging the looks, not your drawing skills. Lastly, you can go either for masculine or feminine outfits and appearances! However, regardless of which direction you choose, we're looking for elevated looks. We want runway fashion, not going to Trader Joe's. Overall, this should be a fun and low-key game! We present to you the perfect opportunity to explore and bring out your creative side by writing a lyrical piece where you can produce a gripping story, pour your heart out, share your thoughts, craft a pop banger or take a comedic approach, Everything is allowed in this game. The possibilities are infinite and we like the unexpected. So, embrace your creativity! The game will consist of 12 rounds where every week the contestants will submit a song that fits the criteria of the respective challenge. There will be a judge panel which has the responsibility and compromise to give you feedback on your songs in a respectful way, always with the purpose of making you grow as a writer and finessing your work. As part of the judge panel, we will have to rank your songs each week to decide who will be the winner of each round as well as taking the difficult decision of eliminating somebody. It’s important to note that we will only focus on the lyricism of your song and opinions can be subjective, that doesn’t mean that our opinion is the absolute truth. So please, don’t get discouraged if you don’t get positive reviews right away. Welcome to the 9th season of ATRL’s Family Feud! HOW TO PLAY Each round consists of 15 questions. To gain points, you have to submit answers you think other players will also submit. Thus, to gain points, the answer doesn't necessarily need to make sense, it just needs to be submitted by other players too. The number of players who have submitted the same answer as you will be the points gained for that particular question. For example, if the question is "What is your favorite dessert?", you wouldn't want to answer with "tapioca pudding" even if that's truly your favorite dessert. Instead, go for a safer answer like "chocolate cake" that will guarantee you points. After 20 rounds or 15 if I'm LAZY, the player with the most points in the end will be declared the winner of ATRL's Family Feud 9!!!! You may NOT discuss your answers with other contestants, whether it's in the thread, discord, or any other form of communication. If I find out that you have, I will disqualify you from the game and you are subject to a One Million Dollar fine!!!! (jk but seriously tho, PLEASE don't cheat ?)   13. This is a mafia game in the vein of the previously hosted in the Games section. This is role madness, so you may see Witching Hour and Marvel Mafia for reference. In this game, players are thrust into a situation where there is a powerful faction who kill someone every night, commonly known as mafia, but in this particular game known as CANCELED GIRLS. The town, in this case known as MAIN POP GIRLS, have the goal to eliminate all threatening non-town faction (CANCELED GIRLS and FLOP GIRLS). Meanwhile, the CANCELED GIRLS goal is to eliminate the MAIN POP GIRLS and any non-town threat. The 3P (FLOP GIRLS) have their own separate win conditions and ability that may or may not work with or against both factions. All Canceled Girls will know all of their alignment's roles and will be put into a discord chat to discuss the game, and submit their actions. The Main Pop Girls will remain ignorant as to the rest of the member's roles. This version of Mafia is called Open Role-Madness. In which all the roles are known at the start of the game and everyone will have some sort of ability. Not all ability are active, and some are even conditional. Phases There are two phases in the game: Day Phase and Night Phase. During Day Phase, all players deliberate and publicly vote to lynch (eliminate) one player from the game. During Night Phase, the Canceled Girls deliberate and decide to kill off one player. Players may have abilities with allow them to act in either phases. Phases will be 24 hours for Day, and 12 hours for Night. As you would expect, this game requires daily activity. If you fail to add anything substancial for several phases in a row I will DQ you and replace you with a subsitute in the case there are any. Additionally, since this always seems to be a problem, i'm adding a mechanism that neither town or mafia can vote out/kill a subsitute in their first cicle (so after a day + night phase has passed). Voting Each Day Phase, all players must submit a valid lynch vote in the thread. It must be bolded and underlined and state the name of the player. Here is an example of how a valid lynch vote should look like: Lynch luckystrike. If you don't want to lynch anyone, you may submit No lynch. If you want to take back a vote without choosing another option, Unlynch or Unlynch luckystrike. Be warned, this will count as not voting if you fail to submit by end of Day. Votes may be changed as many times as you wish until the end of the Day Phase; the last one submitted counts. Tie votes will result in the elimination of both parties. Elimination Once you are dead by lynch or kill, you are removed from the game and you may no longer post in the game thread. Since there is a Revival role, dead players will still be considered "in play" until that role is dead or their power used. Otherwise, you will be allowed to post again only after the game is over. You are strictly not allowed to coach or discuss with any remaining players in the game. Your role and alignment will be revealed when you die. There will be a spectator's chat for people to observe the game upon the death of the Reviver. Disqualification Players are disqualified at the end of the phase, or on the spot for more serious violations. Disqualified players are treated as if they were lynched or killed and may suffer extra consequences and cannot be revived. DQ if: You don't submit a valid lynch vote during Day Phase you will receive a warning. Failure to do so for the second time results in a disqualification. You are caught discussing the game outside of: the game thread, the Mafia chat or the Spectator's Chat should there be one, you are out without warning. If you are dead in the game and cheating by talking to players who are still alive, I may no longer allow you to play in any game I may host in the future. And you may face a WP from a mod. You edit a post you will receive a warning. If you edit a post for the second time, you will be disqualified! Again, NO EDITING! If you want to fix an error please make a second post instead. Mods can also see any edited posts even for plus members. This is simply to preserve the game integrity. You make a screenshot of any PM I send you and share it, directly quote any PM I send you, or post an image of your role pm, you will be disqualified. Posting images of roles which have been revealed is allowed, since that information will be accessible from the game thread. This game still follows ATRL rules, so any violation will be reported and dealt with accordingly. Other information There is an anti-role claiming mechanic in this game. The Triple Kill will allow mafia to kill three players if they guess their roles correctly. This is a game which requires active participation. If you're not able to contribute, don't sign up. No one is expected to be in the thread all day. But think of making at least 3 substantive posts a day. You can expect this game to take a couple weeks at best.   14. Welcome everyone to the 7th season of ATRL's Vanishing Letters! After two wonderful seasons hosted by Navyofbadgals and clue, I've decided to take over and host this season. Every round, I will give you a set of "vanishing" letters along with a theme. These letters cannnot appear in the artist's name, song title or sometimes both (will vary each round). Likewise, each round I will ask you to send either a song, a single or an album track (whereas songs can be either a single or an album track, singles have to be released as such, promo singles included, and album tracks cannot have been released as single at any moment). Following tradition, the songs used in the previous seasons will be banned, and artists will be banned throughout this season after being used three times. Each round both the judges and the contestants will have to rank the songs from best to worst. The person with the highest average wins the round, and the members with the lowest averages will be eliminated. Important: You are responsible for each of your entries. So make sure your song meets the requierements (check your letters, the banned songs list and make sure it's either a single/album track if the round requieres it), before sending it in. We saw a sneek peak of this in the finale of Season 6, and I decided that instead of doing a whole tournament around it, I should just implement it as new twist to the original game. Every few rounds, instead of giving you a set of "vanishing" letters, i will ask for a set "necesarry" letters. Basically, a couple of letters that need to be included in your song title/artist name. Hell, I might even ask for a especific set of artists for a round, but more information on that will be given when the round arrives.   17. Shoutout to @clue for the amazing banner! Welcome to the return of ATRL Games section classic: Holy Trinity! We all love a trinity, so why not base an entire game on vying to be a part of one? Each round there will be challenge criteria in the form of a theme. Your job is to creatively interpret that theme however you see fit and come up with THREE songs that work together to convey this theme. Essentially you’re making a mini-playlist that works with the theme of each round but with an added twist of making them work together to make your interpretation spark or tell a story! RULES: How this game works is as mentioned above, you will create a trinity of songs that works with a particular theme, adding explanations or putting your own creative twist on how you convey your message. Once you've got your trinity together you will submit to me via PM and once all the entries are complete they will ALL be posted in the thread. A panel of esteemed TBD judges will listen to, read, and critique your entries providing feedback on their impressions. Unlike other games this won't be determined entirely on song quality or your personal taste but rather how your trinity works as a whole and how you interpreted the criteria. Each of our judges will rank the entries and once placements are determined we will have a Golden Trinity (Top 3) and a Flop Trinity (Bottom 3). The exciting twist of this game is the Golden Trinity will deliberate among themselves and choose one member of the Flop Trinity to eliminate. Keep in mind that you can go from the Golden Trinity to the Flop Trinity in as little as one round so you'll always have to be on your toes and might even choose to create bonds along the way! Once we reach the finale, the last Golden Trinity will be crowned our official Holy Trinity and will be the winners. FOLDS (aka Twists) Of course it isn't as easy as it sounds. As you've probably guessed, this season has an Origami theme to it and we'll be introducing what are known as "folds" along the way. These will work as special twists that will make certain challenges harder or force you to think outside the box. At the same time, there will also be opportunities to win special powers known as Paper Cranes that can either help you out or can be applied towards a rival! -- This might sound like a challenging game but trust me that this is going to be a very fun and chill experience, and will allow you to try out new things. The aim of this game is to be creative and have fun with what you're doing. Write a short story or a poem, create fun images or graphics, weave together your trinity in ways the judges aren't even expecting! PERIOD! What is it? Every round, you must send in a song to meet a specification for that particular round; I prefer this to be done over YouTube if at all possible. After everyone has submitted their song, each contestant will be given a link with every song, and they must then listen to them and rank them (not including their own song). Based on these rankings, all scores from each contestant will be combined and the contestants with the lowest overall score will be eliminated. This format will continue (with surprises throughout) until we are left with the winner of ATRL's Song Contest.   21. Welcome to ATRL Scattergories! When I took my hiatus from ATRL, hosting games was one of the things I missed most. I have fond memories of the countless moments of hilarity and unadulterated fun that Scattergories brought me all those years ago. That’s why I’m so thrilled to be back hosting one of my favorite games of all-time. I first played Scattergories in my sophomore year of high school, during U.S. History 2. I enjoyed it so much that I decided to adapt it for a round in my other game, Persistence, and eventually made the decision to transform it into a tournament of its own. RULES For those who have never played before, you need to understand how the game is played in real life. In essence, Scattergories is a reverse Family Feud. First, the host picks a letter and several categories. For example, the letter might be "A" and a few categories might be "methods of transportation" and "state capitals." Everyone has a certain amount of time to list things that begin with the given letter and correspond to the given categories. Continuing the example, I might write "airplane" for the "methods of transportation" category, and "Albany" for the "state capitals" category. After time is up, everyone reveals their answers to each other; each person with a unique answer for a given category receives a point. However, if you wrote down the same thing as someone else, neither of you earn a point for it. In our version, each round will include roughly 12-14 categories, with fewer categories for the more difficult letters. I will use Google Forms to collect your entries. You will have several days to submit your entries for each round, and I will unveil each round's results category-by-category live, almost identical to the submission & results processes in ATRL's Family Feud. SCORING Players will earn points based on how many people came up with unique answers for a given category. You will earn one point for every non-unique or invalid answer. For example, if 5 people submit a non-unique answer, everyone that did submit a unique answer gets 5 points. This system rewards unique answers in more difficult categories. In this example from Season 1, 4 people submitted non-unique answers, so everyone that did submit a unique answer got 4 points: Additionally, I will make some challenging categories double or triple points, meaning that you'll receive more for coming up with a unique answer. Some rounds may also feature various bonuses and advantages. Players will earn no points for a category if their answer is deemed invalid, even if it is unique. This has been a major point of contention in the past, so I will try to explain clearly and comprehensively what makes an answer invalid. Clarifying questions are welcomed. An answer shall be defined as invalid if it disobeys a specific rule outlined in the category, contains a non-essential adjective, or is not unambiguously sufficiently relevant to the category. BREAKING CATEGORY RULES Answers that disobey a specific rule outlined in the category are invalid. These tend to be self-explanatory, so I will provide several examples here and hopefully this motivates you to read the categories carefully. LETTERS AND NAMES Answers that begin with a different letter than the current round’s letter are, obviously, invalid. When the category requires a response in the form of a proper noun, it should be noted that the first letter of the response is the letter that must match the round letter. Players are not allowed to change the word order of a title. For example, the iconic "Auto, Grand Theft" was not a valid answer. “The Weeknd” would only be a valid response during the “T” round. If the response is a name, the name will be displayed in accordance with traditional naming customs. For example, “Abe Shinzo,” the correct presentation of the Japanese Prime Minister’s name, would only be a valid response during the “A” round. Adding honorifics to alter the first letter of a name is disallowed. NON-ESSENTIAL ADJECTIVES A non-essential adjective shall be defined as an adjective that does not differentiate an object in function, substance, or value in a manner relevant to the category. Consider again the “methods of transportation” example category referenced above. Clearly, if we were in the C round, “car” would be a valid answer for this category. However, suppose that the letter for the round was instead B. One might think of submitting “blue car” in this case. However, that would be invalid because “blue” is a non-essential adjective. A blue car is functionally no different from a car of any other color. Adding “blue” does not make it a distinct method of transportation and therefore it is substantively as if the answer was simply “car." In contrast, suppose the category was “a baked good.” Of course, “cookie” would be a valid answer. Would “sugar cookie” also be valid? Yes. A sugar cookie is a distinct type of cookie that is substantively different from, say, an oatmeal raisin cookie. Thus, “sugar” is an essential adjective in this scenario. The fundamental goal of the non-essential adjective policy is to encourage creativity in answers and prevent players from simply appending adjectives to the beginning of a thing or phrase in order to make valid answers. The line between essential and non-essential can get blurry, so I suggest you try hard to avoid adjective-laden answers in those cases. My judgment on whether an adjective is non-essential is final. NOT SUFFICIENTLY RELEVANT Scattergories rewards the discovery of obscure, esoteric knowledge, and I always get excited when I learn something new from someone’s answer. That being said, compiling results is already a very time-consuming process, and it is slowed further when someone submits an answer that I need to spend a long time researching to confirm its validity. If I cannot find unambiguous evidence of an answer’s validity in a reasonable amount of time, I will mark it as invalid. To prevent this from happening, if you know your answer is obscure, please send me an explanation or link to a reputable source justifying it. Even if an answer is not obscure, it may simply be irrelevant to the category at hand. Note that “a term” does not mean “a name,” with very rare exceptions. Answers can also be deemed not sufficiently relevant for being too generic. Suppose the category is “something you would find specifically in a hotel.” The crux of this category is to come up with things that you would observe much more commonly in a hotel than in other places. Thus, answers like “TV,” “bed,” or “rug” would be invalid because those objects are ubiquitous outside hotel settings. An answer like “room service” would be much stronger. LOGISTICS The game will last 15 rounds, and each round will have roughly 12-14 categories. These are notable decreases from previous seasons, as I found that it became difficult to generate viable categories as rounds went on. The goal this season is to have fewer categories overall but more high-quality, competitive ones. Players will have 1-2 days to submit their responses for each round. Results will be revealed category-by-category live in this thread the day after the round deadline (perhaps the night of if the deadline is in the morning). Players will be permitted unlimited answer changes before the deadline. After the deadline, each player will be permitted one answer change which must be used within 30 minutes of the deadline. The winner shall be the player who accumulates the most points after the 15th round. There is no elimination in this game, and players may join or quit at any time. That said, I would still like to compile an initial signup list to assess the overall level of demand for the game.   22. Welcome to the second installment of Battle Royale. This is where you can hash it out in arena-setting combat to be the last person standing. Introduction This time we’re introducing Duos. Players may sign up as teams of two. You must let me know who your partner is, or if you would like one. The duos have separate health and can swap items between themselves at will (more info on this below). Partners can be revived within one round. However this will count as an official action and leave yourself vulnerable. Players MAY choose to sign up as solo but know that you would be at a disadvantage. The ACTIONS Attack - Attack a target with an equipped weapon. Defend - Can defend self and gain +1 Defense OR defend another player and add your total defense stats to their. Take - Can take an item from the Armory or steal an equipped item from another player. Evade - Can avoid all negative actions targeting you. But cannot use it the next round. Revive - Revive a partner but you lose half defense while doing this. Swap - Trade one item in exchange for one of your partner’s. This is the only action that can be used at any point in time, once per round. And you can use the above actions in addition to this. In addition to this, you must tell me which items you are equipping each round. Otherwise, I'll will automatically equip your strongest item by stats or keep the last item you equipped. If you're in a duo, I will allow you to submit actions for your partner only if they agree to beforehand. You can PM your stuff to me either on here or discord. Please choose just one PMing method for the whole game. ^^ This is the basics. Look them over, memorize them, visualize them, ask questions about them, and read them again! ^^ Additional Gameplay Every player will start with: Attack: 0 Defense: +1 No weapons or armors At the very beginning of the first round, there will be a huge armory of weapons, armors, and other items. This will be updated throughout the game. There's no limited to the amount of items you can have. Another touch-up I will be adding is simply providing a list of all players stats and inventory every round. This should make it easier to keep track of everyone and your own stuff. Please note: secret abilities will not be included in the actual stats. Also a reminder that once you die you “drop” all items. I will do my best to make sure they are listed in the armory. Stage effects are back as well. They can be unpredictable, sometimes rendering items and abilities useless. Just like before key stages releases more non-players enemies into the game in escalating strength or numbers. Do you best to prepare for these eventualities. (Edit) Oh and there might be occasional minigames in some round. Basically, in-game prizes. Choosing Characters/Abilities Once you have your team set up you can choose from a list of duos in history. Everyone has different secrets abilities; the abilities will apply for both people so if you pick “Batman/Superman" who secret ability is +2 attack, then it will be applied to both separate players.   23. ATRL’s Next Top Model (ANTM) Welcome to ATRL’s Next Top Model! Do you think you have what it takes to be on Top? Players will pick a celebrity they want to represent, they can be male, female, or anything in between, all are welcomed. Each round you will submit a photo to the host that best represents the theme of that round. The judges will deliberate and make a decision as to who gave the weakest performance. THE ONLY THING THAT WILL BE JUDGED ARE THE “MODELS”, THE POSE, AND WHAT THEY ARE WEARING. Please refrain from using candid shots. If you choose to use one, that is at your risk. This game, like most on ATRL require you to be active at least once a day. We encourage banter and drama (just keep it cute). Share your opinions on the submissions when the pictures are revealed during the elimination ceremony. A winner, top three and bottom three (give or take) will be announces. The winner of each round will be decided by the panel of judges as well as a public vote where both players and audience can vote. A point system will be in effect, look below for more information on that. The winner of the season will be decided by the point system, the judges, and the audience vote. When voting there will be three tops and two bottoms (lucky bottoms). The most top spot receive 5 points for that model, the next best will receive 3 points and the least best will receive 1 point. On the other hand, being on the bottom will cause you to lose points. Being the worst in that round will make you lose 2 points the second worst will lose 1 point. This is the same for both models voting and ATRL members voting. For the judge's their point values are higher. The tops receive 10 points, 5 points, and 3 points respectively. For the bottoms, the model will lose 3 points or 2 points. After all votes are submitted the numbers are added and subtracted for each model. The winner WILL have the most points that round and the eliminated model WILL have the lowest score that round. Essentially the more votes of models and ATRL members there are, the less impactful the judge's votes are. In the case of event that there is a tie for any placement that is not first or last, the models will share that placement. If there is a tie for first or last place it is up the the average score of the three judges.   24. Designer Mafia Hosted by Mattheo & Evy In this version the players themselves will create the roles, characters and abilities. You can use anything! The game is based only on players' suggestions and nothing more, so be creative and let your imagination run wild. The Set-up is closed that means it won't be revealed before the start of the game what kind of roles are in the game. Even if you aren't playing, you can still submit roles. Mafia Basics In a Mafia game there are 2 Phases: Day and Night. During Day players communicate in the thread and decide whom they are gonna lynch at the end of the phase. During Night players can use the abilitys of their roles. If you wanna lynch someone type it in bold. For example: lynch evy. When you want to change your lynch you must unylch first in bold and then lynch your new target, for example: unlynch, lynch mattheo This game will have 3 Affilations: Good Vs Evil Vs Neutral. Everyone should play for their own affiliation, and not do anything that would be considered gamethrowing. For Goods the win condition is to get rid all the threats (aka Evils and Neutrals) by lynching them or using abilitys. For Evils the win condition is to control at least 50% of the town (aka alive players) and such get rid of players that aren't evil. Evils have a shared role pm where they can communicate with their partners. Each Neutral role has their own win condition that will be specificed in their role PM. If you have more questions about how the game works you can ask the GMs and we will explain. Rules Please read the rules carefully, violations could lead to modkills. You cannot reveal what abilities you created. You will be instantly modkilled if you do. Character revealing is not allowed. Do not reveal your character/role's name or describe how the role picture looks. You can however discuss your role's ability and alignment. Do not discuss with anyone beforehand what kind of roles you will be submitting. This should be a secret until the game ends. Do not post during night phase. Night phases will be short, so please be patient. Don't post anything game influencing after you died. No screenshots or copy and pasting from any private role PMs related to the game. I honestly have big shoes to fill after bagels’ fantastic hosting job. We will crown our sixth winner after various rounds of song searching (and soul searching) We will be continuing bagels' tradition of having an esteemed panel of judges who will rank the songs along with the cast: @Astronomy @clue @disruptive @rl231 winner of last season @Staryu @Tom Vercetti Every round I will ask for either a song, single, or album track. Song can be both a single or an album track, whereas a single needs to be officially released as such (promo singles included), and an album track cannot be officially released as a single Every round I will then give you a few "vanishing letters," and these letters cannot appear in either artist’s title or the song title or sometimes both (this part will be specified round-by-round). I decided to make a little change: the season has three chances for an artist to be used before they're banned (as opposed to last season's two chances) The scoreboard, handled by the lovely @thecptz, is always in the OP Carrying on oldTRL tradition, the songs from last seasons are banned for this season So for example: Round 0: An album track from 2019 U, H, X, Z vanished from the artist’s name Tame Impala - On Track none of the letters appear in their name so you can send it but for example: you could not send in a Harry Styles album track from 2019 Every round the cast will not know what others have sent in, you will need to rank the songs from best to worst, and the judges will do the same for you. The person with the highest average wins the round, and the people with the lowest averages will be eliminated @Psycho
