  1. This particular user is having their family membership go from $22.99 --> $42.99 x x US Premium prices also went up for this user Thoughts? This is why I still have my adblock ON.

  4. The last trailblazing iPhone was the iPhone 5, we're almost at iPhone 15. Apple has been recycling the same thing for generations now with minor changes. And that's just one example. Do you think Steve Jobs would be embarrassed about the current Apple situation? Thoughts?
  5. I was talking with my bf last night about how consumer tech used to be so exciting in the 2000s/early 2010s because there was so much innovation coupled with lowering prices happening, making more and new tech available to the average consumer. However, from around the mid 2010s on, it sort of feels like everything has stalled more and more and we're seeing less and less major innovation hit the market. With this in mind, what do you think, if anything, will be the next big consumer tech innovation that will take the world by storm like the PC, iPhone, etcetera did?
  6. As you may know, Reddit is going to charge big money to use its API - this is terrible for bots and 3rd party applications. It is also terrible for people with disabilities which the main Reddit app supports terribly. a huge number of subreddits have agreed to take part, even some of my pop favs.. so ATRL, have your fav subreddits joined the strike?
  7. In an internal memo sent Monday afternoon to Reddit staff, CEO Steve Huffman addressed the recent blowback directed at the company, telling employees to block out the “noise” and that the ongoing blackout of thousands of subreddits will eventually pass. The memo, a copy of which was obtained by The Verge, is in response to popular subreddits going dark this week in protest of the company’s increased API pricing for third-party apps. Some of the most popular Reddit clients say the bill for keeping their apps up and running could cost them millions of dollars a year. More than 8,000 Reddit communities have gone dark in protest, and while many plan to open up again on Wednesday, some have said they’ll stay private indefinitely until Reddit makes changes. https://www.theverge.com/2023/6/13/23759559/reddit-internal-memo-api-pricing-changes-steve-huffman r/Modcoord (the organiser of the blackout) is now calling for a indefinite blackout, big subreddits like r/Apple, r/Fitness are joining in

    iPhone or Galaxy?

Sometime ago I made a similar thread to this and I ended up buying a Galaxy S22, now I'm about to update but the iPhone 14 Pro is kinda the same as the Flip I was thinking on updating. Galaxy's are great, but I do low-key miss the Apple ecosystem I had with my MacBook and iPhone 11. Is it worth it or should I stick with Samsung?
  13. SEOUL (Reuters) -Samsung Electronics Co Ltd said on Friday it would make a "meaningful" cut to chip production after flagging a worse-than-expected 96% plunge in quarterly operating profit, as a sharp downturn in the global semiconductor market worsens. Shares in the world's largest memory chip and TV maker rose 3% in early trading, while rival SK Hynix Inc's shares surged 5% as investors welcomed plans to cut production to help preserve pricing power. Samsung estimated its operating profit fell to 600 billion won ($455.5 million) in January-March, from 14.12 trillion won a year earlier, in a short preliminary earnings statement. It was the lowest profit for any quarter in 14 years. "Memory demand dropped sharply... due to the macroeconomic situation and slowing customer purchasing sentiment, as many customers continue to adjust their inventories for financial purposes," the company said in a statement. "We are lowering the production of memory chips by a meaningful level, especially that of products with supply secured," it added, in a reference to those with sufficient inventories. The production cut signal is unusually strong for Samsung, which previously said it would make small adjustments like pauses for refurbishing production lines but not a full-blown cut. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/samsung-elec-q1-profit-likely-234906128.html

  15. Twitter users will need a “verified account” to get recommended on the platform’s For You page starting on April 15th, according to a Monday evening tweet from CEO Elon Musk. Given that Twitter has promised to start dismantling the “legacy” verified system at the beginning of April, that appears to mean that you’ll have to be a company, government entity, or Twitter Blue subscriber if you want to pop into the feeds of people who don’t follow you. Musk claims the move is “the only realistic way to address advanced AI bot swarms taking over.” Verified users are also going to become the only accounts that can vote in polls for the “same reason,” Musk says. https://www.theverge.com/2023/3/27/23659351/elon-musk-twitter-for-you-verified-accounts-polls
  16. And in this definition I mean using gifs featuring black people while not being black. I feel shaming anyone for using a newyork gif would be silly but it might become a thing if it grows into a movement. Hopefully it's just a fad.
