  3. Ed Sheeran’s global chart-topping Divide album debuts in its first week at the top of the Canadian chart with 75,000 total consumption units (CU) that combine sales with streams. Nielsen reports him having the highest one-week total since Drake’s Views tallied 110K CUs in its debut week in May 2016. Notable too is that Sheeran sold 60K albums in his first week, the highest total since Celine Dion’s Encore Un Soir sold about as many in September 2016. Sheeran also racked up 23M on-demand streams to claim the highest one-week total since The Weeknd generated 27M in November 2016 with the release of the Starboy album. The activity necessarily has triggered renewed interest in Sheeran’s back catalogue. Ed Sheeran’s “Shape Of You” continues to lead the way on the Streaming and Songs charts for the ninth straight week. This is the longest consecutive run at No. 1 on the Songs chart since Omi’s “Cheerleader” spent nine at the top, in June 2015. Six more songs from Divide are in the song Streaming chart top 20 this week. http://www.fyimusicnews.ca/articles/2017/03/13/charts-week
  4. recordingindustrymyThe Recording Industry Association of Malaysia (RIM) is pleased to announce the return of RIM Charts. The official weekly issued RIM Chart is set to make a comeback after more than a decade of absence since 2006. The eagerly awaited chart will focus on the Top 20 most streamed songs in Malaysia and it is calculated from the data report submitted by major digital music providers such as Apple Music, Spotify, KKBOX and Deezer. RIM Charts will be the only industry-recognised digital charts in Malaysia that tracks the highest streamed tracks each week. The official RIM Chart will be issued every Friday through our website and social media platforms. It will record the rankings of digital streaming occurring in the week before.
  5. Ed Sheeran Stays Atop Hot 100, Clean Bandit Bounds to Top 10 Meanwhile, 10 songs from ÷ debut on the Hot 100: "Perfect" (No. 37), "Dive" (No. 49), "Galway Girl" (No. 53), "Happier" (No. 59), "New Man" (No. 72), "Supermarket Flowers" (No. 75), "What Do I Know?" (No. 83), "Eraser" (No. 90), "Hearts Don't Break Around Here" (No. 93) and "Barcelona" (No. 96). They join "Shape," the No. 6-peaking "Castle on the Hill" (which roars 75-39) and the No. 41-reaching "How Would You Feel (Paean)" (a re-entry at No. 83), making for 13 of the 16 songs on the deluxe version of the album that have hit the Hot 100; all 12 tracks on the standard version of the album have now reached the Hot 100. Ed Sheeran's 'Divide' Bows at No. 1 on Billboard 200 Chart With 2017's Biggest Debut Ed Sheeran’s ÷ (Divide) blasts in at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, earning a whopping 451,000 equivalent album units in the week ending March 10, according to Nielsen Music. That’s the largest week for an album in 2017, and the biggest since J. Cole’s 4 Your Eyez Only launched at No. 1 with 492,000 on the Dec. 31, 2016-dated list. Further, ÷ starts with 322,000 in traditional album sales -- again, the largest sales frame for an album since 4 Your Eyez Only debuted with 363,000 copies sold. This is Sheeran’s second No. 1 album on the Billboard 200, following the chart-topping bow of his previous studio effort, x (Multiply), in 2014. That set launched with 209,000 in traditional album sales (before the Billboard 200 transitioned to a ranking based on equivalent album units). Additionally, ÷ logs the biggest streaming week for an album since 4 Your Eyez Only’s debut frame. ÷ earned 90,000 streaming equivalent album units (which equates to 134.6 million streams of songs from the album in the tracking week). 4 Your Eyez Only arrived with 118,000 streaming equivalent album units (176.9 million streams of the album’s songs). 15. Ed Sheeran has been breaking records left and right since the release of his third album, Divide (styled ÷) on Friday (March 3). Two days after the CD release, Sheeran reached yet another incredible feat: 1 billion YouTube views, on just Divide songs alone. After releasing lyric videos for the two initial Divide singles, "Shape of You" and "Castle on the Hill," on Jan. 6 (and official videos for both shortly after), the British singer-songwriter had already garnered hundreds of millions of views before the album even dropped. Upon the release of Divide, Sheeran put out official audio videos for the other 14 tracks on the deluxe version of the album, which pushed him to the billion views milestone on Sunday (March 5). Along with the impressive numbers of views, Sheeran's YouTube channel has also gained more than 3 million subscribers in the last two months alone. With this kind of success, Lyor Cohen, YouTube's Global Head of Music, couldn't help extending his congratulations to Sheeran. “Ed Sheeran is one of the biggest stars in the world and his new album is his best yet," Cohen said in a statement. "For years, he’s paired his songs with consistently creative music videos, so it’s great to see fans rushing to YouTube to watch them and show support for his new album.” The lyric and official videos for "Shape of You" make up more than half of Sheeran's billion Divide video views, with the lyric video sitting pretty at 395.4 million views and the official visual quickly approaching that mark with 296.2 million. Each of the Divide audio videos already have at least 3 million views each, with most garnering more than 5 million in just four days. SOURCE

  21. Ed Sheeran's 'Divide' Aiming for No. 1 on Billboard 200 Chart With Year's Biggest Debut Ed Sheeran’s new ÷ (Divide) album is on track to earn 2017’s biggest debut, according to industry forecasters, and should easily give Sheeran his third No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart (dated March 25). Those in the know suggest the set, which was released Friday (March 3), could easily start with more than 300,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending March 9. It’s likely the title could clear a total somewhere in the range of 350,000 to 425,000 units. Considering the album only came out today, these are initial forecasts that could change dramatically in the next few days, once the album has been in the marketplace for more than a few hours. (Translation: Stay tuned for further updates on Sheeran and his album.)
