  3. Introducing… Banner by DivaCup Welcome to the ATRL Top 40! A new top 40 songs chart where ATRL's taste is fairly represented. All you have to do is sign up. From 2011 to 2013, forum mod Porygon2z used to run a forum-wide chart based on ATRL's tastes (with a formula change coming later in the chart's life when it totally represented ATRL's tastes, and Billboard bonuses were dropped). Unfortunately, the chart eventually died, and people moved onto the Most Addicted Members chart. However, with a program that Reddit user letsallpoo made, I can now carry on with this chart. With this program (made by again, Reddit user letsallpoo), I can gather the top 15s of a group of people and compile it together into one huge list. So, how exactly does the program work, and what is the chart methodology? The program collects the top 15s of a group of people that I list in a text file. It then aggregates all the top 15s into one grand chart. The program ignores the play count in the top 15s; it looks at the placements. The #1 song gets 19 points, and the #15 song getting 4 points. The charting period will be set to be the last 28 days of every profile. This is to: - prevent any occurrences of a song suddenly charting high for one week and then vanishing the next week from happening. This isn't the UK chart pre-2012. - prevent any occurrences of a song suddenly being in the interest of a select few of people and then no longer being so within a few weeks from happening. - prevent any total artist dominations of a top 10 whenever an album is released, just for half of the songs to vanish the very next week. - allow for less sudden chart fluidity. It will be from Friday at 00:00 GMT to Thursday at 23:59:59 GMT. I will be updating the chart every week on Friday. It may be weird having "last 28 days", but this is to give full weeks to albums and new tracks that pop up on the new industry standard release date Friday. Chart rules - There is no limit on how many songs can show up by one act. - Cover songs are not allowed to chart unless they are officially released to a major music outlet (such as Spotify, iTunes, etc…). - No recurrent rules! A song may stay on the charts long much as you all keep listening to it. Billboard who? - Only official remixes released to major music outlets are allowed to chart. Any other non-official remix will have its points mixed in with the main track, unless it manages to actually be popular to a point that it goes top 15. - A- and B-tracks of a single will be counted separately. - If there's a track with multiple songs in one (like Lorde's "Hard Feelings/Loveless" and Pharrell's "Lost Queen" that featured the hidden track "Freq"), it will chart the way the artist intended it to be. That means no splitting of "Lost Queen" and "Freq" from each other, and no splitting "Hard Feelings" and "Loveless" from each other. Those are examples, but you get the gist. - And NO you may not just suddenly wake up one day and recruit your fanbase to game the charts and spam your fave. Alright, how do I sign up? You may sign up through here. If Google Forms isn't working for you for whatever reason, first try Chrome. If that doesn't work, please let me know in this thread so I can manually add you. You are allowed to sign up from Monday to Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday. You are not allowed to sign up on Fridays because this is when the program begins to collect stats from all the Last.fm's to create the chart. The process is only about 10-20 minutes depending on the amount of people and amount of variety in music tastes you all have… But still. To leave, please notify me via private message. Again, PLEASE do make sure to sign up through HERE. If the site isn't working, let me know so I can add you myself. The first chart issue is next Friday. Today will be your only Friday ever available to sign up. PS: if there really is that much similarity in your tastes, maybe the chart will expand to a top fifty.

  9. In October 2015 Billboard unveiled updated All-Time Lists, along with debuting new all-time lists -- one being Greatest Hot 100 Artists based on the all-time artists with the best career performance on Hot 100. The list: This thread is to track movement on the chart since October 2015, to present. "-" indicates I either haven't calculated the artists total, or keep getting an amount completely incorrect. Yes, I am aware for a few artists they have points higher than the artist above them -- it's because I can't figure out the small point error, and would rather atleast go ahead and put the small incorrect point count then have no point count for them at all. (+ points) indicates the points gained since the October 2015 revealing. Drake is the only artist to have debut; also becoming the highest rapper ever. POSITION ARTIST POINTS 1. 14. The Grenfell Tower single Bridge Over Troubled Water enters at Number 1 on this week’s Official Singles Chart, just 48 hours after its release. Released at 8am on Wednesday (June 21), the all-star rendition of Simon & Garkfunkel’s track shifted 170,360 across digital and streaming equivalent sales to take the top spot. The majority of the song’s sales came from downloads, making up just under 169,000 of the total. The track, which features more than 50 artists including Stormzy, Emeli Sande, Robbie Williams and Paloma Faith (see the full list here), had the biggest opening day combined sales of any single this decade, shifting 120k. The previous biggest day 1 of decade was Adele's Hello, logging just under 78,000 sales on its first day. The biggest day 1 sales of all time is Elton John's Candle In The Wind (1997) with 655,000. Artists For Grenfell’s Bridge Over Troubled Water is now the second fastest-selling single of the year, second to Ed Sheeran’s Shape Of You, which opened with 226,808 back in January. The song knocks Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber’s Despacito from Number 1 after six weeks at the summit and finishes 69,000 combined sales behind Bridge Over Troubled Water. DJ Khaled debuts at Number 3 with his Rihanna and Bryson Tiller collaboration Wild Thoughts, marking the producers second Top 5 single in two months after the chart-topping I’m The One. The entry also gives Rihanna her 30th Top 10 single.
  15. The song, off their album Culture, is the most successful single they've done by far and is currently on its way to half a billion plays on Spotify alone in just 7 months.
  16. Everybody in the business believes massive hit radio singles drive streaming. Top execs say manipulating the price of a track and driving it up the iTunes chart can help pump up that airplay. A higher iTunes position can feed the perception that a new release is breaking. Radio looks at the iTunes chart for positive reinforcement regarding the actives prior to the callout research, which can take at least four weeks. If a song that’s On the Verge at iHeart doesn’t translate to sales, a chill goes through the heart of the SVP of promotion—who can probably expect a call from Tom Poleman saying, “Thanks for putting me on that stiff.” ccording to many—though by no means all—it’s an important tool in the toolbox. Not all companies use this tactic equally; Atlantic, Republic, Interscope, Capitol and Island clearly believe in the 69-cent model, while Sony’s labels use it rather sparingly. http://hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=307097
