  1. The best interviewer fully leaves the network after the cancellation of his Peacock streaming + Sunday evening show. This interview with Israeli serial liar and propagandist Mark Regev is widely credited as the unofficial reason why his show was unceremoniously ended:

  3. The United Nations on Friday fired 12 of its employees in Gaza and began an investigation after charges by Israel that they had helped plan and participated in the Oct. 7 terrorist assault that left 1,400 Israelis dead or captured. The workers, all men and all employed by the U.N. agency that aids Palestinians and known by the acronym UNRWA, are subject to a criminal investigation, two U.N. officials said. A U.N. official, briefed on the accusations, called the allegations “extremely serious and horrific.” Israel, which presented the allegations to the U.N. earlier this week, has previously accused UNRWA, which provides social and education programs in the Gaza Strip, of fueling anti-Israeli incitement. The stunning accusation and the U.N.’s swift reaction, however, contrast with previous U.N. denials of Israeli allegations. The accusations led to swift action by the United States, one of the agency’s largest donors, which temporarily halted its funding to the organization. UNWRA has been the principal agency overseeing the distribution of aid to Gazans amid a growing humanitarian crisis because of the war launched after the Oct. 7 attack. Israel and the U.N. have each accused each other of acting in bad faith. The U.N. has accused Israel of slowing the delivery of humanitarian aid to the embattled enclave, and Israel has said the world body has promoted Hamas’s propaganda. Those allegations, however, are less politically sensitive than the accusation that humanitarian workers could have engaged in an act of terror, which is being taken seriously by the U.N. secretariat, the United States and the European Union, UNRWA’s largest donors. 5. The video is horrific. She's so scared for her life, and then you just hear, off camera, multiple shots. At least where I'm standing, being an idiot is not an excuse for acting this way. He killed her in cold blood and I wish him nothing good for the rest of his life. Cancer kills innocent children every day, and yet this ass made it to his 80s. Truly a case where his mother should have swallowed.
  6. In a mind-boggling scene straight out of "A Weekend at Bernie's,” a Brazilian woman reportedly wheeled the corpse of an elderly man into a Rio de Janeiro bank Tuesday to try to get him to co-sign on a loan. The bank customer, identified as Erika de Souza Vieira Nunes, was captured on video standing next to the deceased seated in a chair and seemingly holding up his drooping head. The wild footage, which was first aired by TV Globo, Brazil's largest broadcaster, captured Nunes talking to the dead man, whom she addressed as her "uncle,” and asking him to sign financial documents that would allow her to take out a $3,400 loan. "Uncle, are you listening? You need to sign [the loan contract]. If you don't sign, there's no way, because I can't sign for you,” Nunes says in the video, while thrusting a pen between his limp fingers and instructing him to hold it "hard.” "Sign so you don't give me any more headaches, I can't take it anymore,” she adds. When a bank worker tries to point out that the man's color looks off and he appears "not well,” Nunes dismisses his concerns. "He is like that. He doesn't say anything,” Nunes says. "Uncle, do you want to go to the [hospital] again?” Unnerved bank staffers quickly called the police, who arrived and arrested Nunes. "She tried to pretend to get him to sign the loan. He already entered the bank dead,” Police Chief Fábio Luiz told TV Globo. "The main thing is to continue the investigation to identify other family members, and find out more about this loan.” Nunes could face charges of theft through fraud, or embezzlement, and abuse of corpse. China is sinking

Nearly half of China's major cities are sinking because of water extraction and the increasing weight of their rapid expansion, researchers say. Some cities are subsiding rapidly, with one in six exceeding 10mm per year. China's rapid urbanisation in recent decades means far more water is now being drawn up to meet people's needs, scientists say. In coastal cities, this subsidence threatens millions of people with flooding as sea levels rise. Put another way, this means 67 million people are living in rapidly sinking areas. The researchers say that the cities facing the worst problems are concentrated in the five regions highlighted on the map shown. The scale of decline is influenced by a number of factors, including geology and the weight of buildings. But a major element, according to the authors, is groundwater loss. This essentially means the extraction of water underneath or near cities for use by the local population. This has already been seen in several major urban areas around the world including Houston, Mexico City and Delhi. https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-68844731.amp Welp.
  10. Apple removes WhatsApp and Threads from App Store under orders from China https://www.axios.com/2024/04/19/apple-china-whatsapp-threads-app-store This is a good thing, many US companies are known to spy on users and harvest data.
  11. Couple Gordon Burton and Charlotte "PS2 Hagrid" Stevens, as well as Paul Bennett, are the proprietors of Burton and Bennett Snacks, a new business that opened in Burnley, England in March 2024. On opening they received considerable attention due to their limited stock, individual sale of multipack items, and the fact all the furniture seemed to have been obtained for free on Facebook Marketplace. Since then, other businesses have started donating stock to them, a floor fitter paid for and installed new flooring for them, and a local graphic designer created a new logo and signage. But the shop is still covered in mould and their attempt at painting the walls is shoddy at best. Their first attempt at selling baked potatoes was immediately put to a stop by health inspectors given the fact they were preparing food on an old office desk (which doubles as the point of payment) and had neither a sink nor a refrigerator to store the ingredients. Since then, some worktops have been installed for food preparation but there's still no sink The shop has recently had its first official food safety inspection and fans are eagerly awaiting for the report to be published and the star rating revealed. Recently some clips have circulated of the gang farting and smoking in the store, near the food preparation area. https://www.tiktok.com/@notburtonbennett/video/7358555393817300257 (this one won't embed properly) The saga hasn't been without controversy as various allegations have been made about Paul, who apparently appeared on Jeremy Kyle. A prank caller uploaded a video of what is allegedly a stream of homophobic abuse from Gordon and Paul in response to his call. In conclusion, what a mess.
