  3. This breaks a string of 3 consecutive (moderate) la nina seasons: https://www.ndtv.com/world-news/2023-el-nino-among-5-strongest-on-record-will-fuel-heat-in-2024-report-5180266 Ensemble and NOAA classify 2023-24 as a Strong El Nino: https://www.webberweather.com/ensemble-oceanic-nino-index.html https://ggweather.com/enso/oni.htm Only ranks behind the 4 Super El Nino years of 1972-73, 1982-83, 1997-98, and 2015-16. Many strong and Super El Nino seasons transition into Strong La Ninas the following season. Such transitions were recorded in 1973, 1988, 1998, and 2010 (which produced the most recent Strong La Nina). A La Nina in 2024-25 would be the 4th La Nina season out of 5. This has only been recorded twice: 1970-71 to 1975-76 (5 out of 6) and 2007-08 to 2011-12 (4 out of 5).

  5. Meghan Herning writes: "Back in 2017, Swift sent a (legally farcical) cease-and-desist letter to me, too, over a blog post I wrote. She—or her legal team, rather—backed down after being publicly shamed by numerous bloggers and magazines. And once the smoke cleared, I have to admit that it kind of helped my career as an attorney. ... I thought it was weird that so many alt-right types seemed to idolize her as an “Aryan” goddess, and equally weird that she didn’t seem like she was doing anything to stop them. So I wrote a blog about it under the headline “Swiftly to the alt-right: Taylor Swift subtly gets the lower case “kkk” in formation” and then forgot all about it..." https://www.thedailybeast.com/i-faced-down-taylor-swifts-legal-wrathand-won

  9. Gary Pilnick, the Chairman and CEO of Kellogg, made the comment on CNBC this week after a Wall Street Journal report found that Americans spend 10% or more of their income on food. "If you think about the cost of cereal for a family versus what they might otherwise do, that's going to be much more affordable," Pilnick said, claiming that it could help a "consumer under pressure" because the price of a bowl of cereal with milk and fruit "is less than a dollar." When pressed on CNBC whether the messaging of struggling people eating cereal for dinner might seem distasteful, Pilnick doubled down, citing company statistics that found a quarter of cereal consumption was outside breakfast time. "In fact, it's landing really well right now," Pilnick said. "Cereal for dinner is something that is probably more on trend now, and we would expect to continue as that consumer is under pressure." https://www.businessinsider.com/personal-finance/kellogg-ceo-cereal-dinner-save-money-2024-2 We’re in hell.
