discussion Did the "Pitchfork of movies" like your favourite last Oscar nominated movie?
vale9001 posted a topic in The Lounge
Music lovers are obsessed with these 6.7 or 7.8 coming from the self called "most respected and honest" music magazine. Something very similar in the word of movie criticism is the french magazine Cahiers du Cinema, well known for their radical opinions on movies and their incommensurable impact in the movie criticism, from Hitchcock revalutation as a real author to the recognition of Spielberg commercial movies as some of the most important works of art in the modern american cinema. Definitely the most respected cinema magazine by cinephiles all around the world. These are the last 10 years Best Picture nominated movies. Were your favourite movies acclaimed or they are totally rotten? How many stars for them? They spilled or not? Do you hate Lanthimos more or less than them?. Let's say you, reader, are an obsessive [insert artist] hater. You meet someone who understands you, who you connect and relate to very well... almost the love of your life but turns out they are a STAN of that one artist you can't stand/hate What's next?

I kinda went crazy last night and planned a trip to Europe for a few weeks to see some friends abroad and also just for fun. Funny enough the flight and Airbnb's are cheaper for Europe than to Florida or Hawaii (my original spring break/vacation plan I wanted to do) or even the East Coast. America has a problem. Anyway I haven't been to the continent since I was kid so I don't really know what there is to do there. I'll probably go to a few obvious tourist places but I also hate feeling like a tourist so I prefer exploring more local/cultural areas when I travel. I'm assuming most of the people on this forum are from Europe since I always see y'all argue about songs/artists not being global if they haven't hit #1 in Liechtenstein so I thought I'd ask. Any cool recommendations would help.

discussion ContraPoints returns, debuts new video: "Twilight "

MotherPoints came to change your life once again -
Anyone else noticing the norm these days seems to be acting overly nice to people, in an insincere way? People just meeting you and acting like they're your best friend, giving compliments they don't mean, the constant "ilysm bb 💞" vibe, etc? Being generally upbeat and positive is nice, but I'm finding more and more the vibe is just sooo saccharine sweet. To the point where just being 'normal' is seen as blunt these days if not outright rude.

discussion Barbie failed to win most of the Oscars it was nominated, why?
Space Cowboy posted a topic in The Lounge
It only won Best Orginal Song #ThanksBillie Why do you think Barbie, the critically-acclaimed box-office phenomenon, was completely ignored by the Academy. Is Barbie overrated? Were the other films just superior? -

Look at the material… Already an Oscar winner for Best Actress for La La Land (and 4-time acting nominee), she's also currently predicted to win her 2nd Best Actress Oscar for Poor Things. So all in all, would you say that Emma Stone is thee actress of our time? Or do you think it's someone else?

discussion Is this video about depression true? And do you have any of the signs?
duybeeGAshantiGA posted a topic in The Lounge
I've just come across this video on Youtube and realised that I have all the signs/symptoms. I also read the Youtube comments and also can relate to many others there. If you have time you can watch the Youtube and read the comments... I wonder if anyone here can relate to what I am going throuhh right now. I feel like half of my soul is gone. I don't feel things that much anymore. Everything in my life now feels so half-assed and empty. It's like I want to feel like a kid again. I actually don't feel like doing anything but I know I am not lazy and I am feeling very guilty about it because ... everyone around me is thriving.. but I can't... -
discussion Non-muscular gays. What's the closest/longest you've been with a fit guy?
BrentB posted a topic in The Lounge
So y'all (non-muscular gays). How long have you been able to keep a fit, muscular (I'm talking perpetual gym-dwelling, shake-drinking, got all muscle groups defined michelin man) dude's attention? Not that it should be an accomplishment in life. But I'm just curious nonetheless. The longest, so far, that I've been with a muscular dude (mind you I'm more on the toned-twink end of body spectrum) might just be a little past two encounters within a year. The last two ghosted me after two hot sessions. But there's one bi dude who I think could break the cycle soon (fingers crossed he doesn't get into a relationship this year ) -
discussion Surprise! You just got signed to the label of your dreams! (SMASH OR TANK)
TROPICUM posted a topic in The Lounge
inspired by another thread i saw today (dont remember which exactly so sorry) Guess what? You just got discovered by a major label and now you must release your debut album. The catch is that the concepts and entire eras of the albums have already been designed by said label. You have the freedom to choose the debut you want… but only one of them will become a SMASH, while the others will TANK. With the wonderful help of ChatGPT, here are your options: Album 1: "Harmony" "Eclipsed Dreams" "Serenade" "Whispers" "Celestial" (Lead Single) "Astral Echoes" "Lunar Lullaby" "Nebula" "Reverie" (2nd Single) "Solar Serenity" "Embrace" "Beyond the Horizon" (3rd Single) Album 2: "Urban Legends" "Cityscape" "Midnights" (Lead Single) "Neon" "Concrete" "Urban Legends" (2nd Single) "Melancholy" "Streetlight Sonata" "Alley" "Skyline" (3rd Single) "Echoes of You" "Rooftop Rhapsody" Album 3: "Whispers of the Wild" "Mystic Prelude" "Enchanted" "Whispers of the Wild" (Lead Single) "Hidden Meadows" "Wandering" "Moonlit Canopy" "Sylvan" (2nd Single) "Echo" "Sunrise " "Aurora" (3rd Single) "Dawn" If you chose "Harmony" as your debut album... If you chose "Urban Legends" as your debut album... If you chose "Whispers of the Wind" as your debut album... Did you SMASH or did you TANK? -
discussion Anyone here have homophobic parents and how do you deal with them?
Bacardo Royale posted a topic in The Lounge
My mom was celebrating the other day with the news Ghana passed the anti LGBTQ bill, like she was so excited to tell me and we don’t even live in Ghana she’s becoming more homophobic every year it’s disturbing to witness, she agrees with the way gays are treated in the middle east, I don't even feel comfortable typing what she said -

Lindsey Lohan tells a U.S. Magazine source she is in talks to play a “Vixen Superhero” in a future Marvel Studios Project in 2022 she said she was interested, but today we have statements that the casting is more concrete and may happen next year. With X-Men becoming the new focus for Marvel studios moving forward, will she be cast as Madylen Pryor? (Jean Grey Clone from an alternate timeline)

discussion Congratulations! You're now a member of the Illuminati!
TROPICUM posted a topic in The Lounge
…and you've been relegated to the pop culture / musical celebrities section. You can make any pop star even more famous than they are now, tank anyone's career, make a flop unknown album a smash, etc. What's your first sacrifice order? -

A Cliff's notes version: A former friend (we recently fell out badly) introduced me to this person that has some common interests and is somewhat fun. We hung out a month or two ago, grabbed some beer & it was nice. Unfortunately both our schedules are very busy, mine especially so; we both wanted to meet each other again. I DID tell them bout the falling out, only to prevent awkwardness if there's a common plan. I would rather not. Fast forward to last week, it's the weekend, and there's a big festival happening across my town that I only learned of a few days prior. I invite them, the goal was to hang out with them and them only. They then decide to make a group of 20 or so RANDOM people on insta for the event like I barely know these people, some people they do not know either lol they just put a link of the event on their stories because "it's more fun that way. Each of us will have different stories." This group also includes the former friend... So anyway, not only did I not go with this group (it was a festival with a lot of different things, so I went off with another friend on a different route and didn't run into them/their club of random insta hatchlings), I have kinda... lost interest dd Like. I did gently tell them that I'd prefer not to turn this into a giant group activity — I like getting to know people OR doing new things, doing both sometimes makes me anxious or awkward and they acknowledge its valid, but like now I am back to a mountain of work and though I feel like an ******* saying this, for Lord knows I'm not socially gifted at all, but someone so socially inept or wishy washy is kind of a turn off. I don't want to meet with them for a bit because they kept guilting me for being swamped with work, how we must meet and then when I actually plan something it's some mess. Thots?
