discussion NO JAIL TIME: Man Beats Pregnant Girlfriend-Baby Dies
AlanRickman1946 posted a topic in Civics
AUSTIN — A man prosecutors said beat his pregnant girlfriend to the point she lost her baby will not serve any jail time. Johnny Charles Ebbs V accepted a plea deal with eight years of deferred adjudication on a third-degree continuous family violence assault charge. According to an arrest warrant, Ebbs assaulted his pregnant girlfriend, LaShonda Lemons, during a verbal fight in 2019. The warrant said Ebbs punched her in the stomach and screamed “F— you and this baby! You aren’t going anywhere!” A doctor indicated that “placenta abruption” was present, which means the placenta was detached from the womb. “You were the first person to hold me at gunpoint. The first person to strangle me,” Lemons said. ---- But women can go to jail for abortions! -

Here Are the Worst Cities for Rat Infestations in the U.S. Right Now Number one remains the same for the eighth consecutive year. By Megan Rategger Published on 10/19/2022 at 12:29 PM Say what you will about my beloved New York City, but at least you can't say we have the worst rat problem in the US. Chicago has once again taken that title. The Windy City has topped Orkin's Rattiest City ranking for the eighth consecutive year. We just won't talk about the fact that NYC is number two. To find its data, the pest control company has analyzed the number of rodent treatments performed in both residential and commercial spaces between September 1, 2021 and August 31, 2022. These are the top 25 rattiest cities in the US this year: 1. Chicago, IL 2. New York, NY 3. Los Angeles, CA 4. Washington D.C. 5. San Francisco, CA 6. Philadelphia, PA 7. Baltimore, MD 8. Cleveland, OH 9. Detroit, MI 10. Denver, CO 11. Seattle, WA 12. Minneapolis, MN 13. Boston, MA 14. Atlanta, GA 15. Indianapolis, IA 16. Pittsburgh, PA 17. Cincinnati, OH 18. San Diego, CA 19. Hartford, CT 20. Miami, FL 21. Milwaukee, WI 22. Houston, TX 23. Dallas, TX 24. Portland, OR 25. discussion Israeli settlers terrorize town, burn hundreds of olive trees
FOCK posted a topic in Civics
’24 hours of hell’: Israeli settler gangs terrorize Palestinian town under army protection Huwwara has been under near constant attack since Thursday afternoon, when groups of armed settlers began attacking several points in the town as they were escorted and enabled by the Israeli army, attacking several points in the town, primarily on the main road, vandalizing dozens of storefronts and vehicles. The settlers also burned olive trees, and attacked several homes, a local amusement park, and a cafe on the outskirts of the town. Link to: Heartbreaking videos of a farmer and his family, lamenting the loss of the Olive grove they'd worked to nourish for 10 years, after the soil was poisoned and the trees were burned. Colonisers do not respect the land, nature, nor the people which they occupy, pillage and destroy. They have no right or claim to indigeneity, they are illegal European settlers, doing as European settlers have always done. -

discussion Xbox Series least selling console even with a 300$ model and Gamepass for free. Why?
tiagol88 posted a topic in Entertainment
So now that supply for all consoles is starting to get back to normal for PS5 we can finally see the actual demand it has. For another month, PS5 was the best selling console in the USA both in units and dollars sales. Units sold: #1 PS5 #2 Switch #3 Sales for BOTH Series X and S together Switch was the 2nd best selling one. This is a 6 year old console that's outselling a Microsoft console that came out not even 2 years ago. One of those models (Series S) you can literally find at any store, it's being sold for 300$ and sometimes as little as 270$ and many of those packs include a 3 month Gamepass voucher at no extra charge. That's literally hundreds of games for "free" to play, many of them you need to pay full price with Playstation or Switch. Meaning that even on Xbox's home country and the place it usually can be competitive...both Japanese consoles, while much more expensive are the ones people are buying. Meanwhile PS5 had its price increased in plenty of countries outside America, its games cost 70$ or 80€ EACH...and the hardware is basically twice as expensive as a Series S...the cheapest entry point that MS is offering right now and the PS5 is also outselling it by a large margin. Just this past week in Spain, PS5 sold close to 6k and Series S and X sold a bit over 1k. In Japan, PS5 sold close to 20k this past week and Series S and X around 2k together. What can MS actually do to have a console that's not in last place in sales at this point? -

discussion Do you believe in the existence of aquifers?
KillingYourCareer posted a topic in The Lounge
Scientists have been trying to convince us that aquifers exist by spamming them on text books used to indoctrinate us ever since a tender age, but has any of us ever seen one? I, for sure, have not. And neither have you, I bet. I'm telling you, aquifers are the biggest hoax in recent history. Those mighty geologists are laughing at us non-stop for believing in the lie that they fabricated, but thankfully, there's a growing movement of enlightened people holding anti-aquifer rallies to make the public aware of the truth. Next month we'll gather to climb Cima Piazzi, a mountain in the Italian Alps said to be home to a mythical aquifer, in protest. The slogan? "There's beautiful rock, there's scratchy sand, there's hellish fire... but don't try to tell us there's a whole layer of water under our feet and expect us to believe it!" - we'll be reciting it nonstop until we reach the mountain top and the whole valley can hear us. Saint Thomas said that he wouldn't believe Jesus was God until he saw evidence--and so the Lord showed clear proof to the skeptic, and he was soon converted. Will those mighty professors listen to the growing community of aquifer deniers and show us proof of their existence? Until then, water will only officially exist in the form of oceans, seas, bays, gulfs, coves, lakes, rivers, trenches, ditches, canals, basins, reservoirs, puddles, creeks, streams, brooks, waterfalls, pools, swamps, rain, snow, hail, vapor, ice, showers, baths and leaks. For those who don't know, here's a scheme depicting an aquifer is (of course, no real life photos can be found of the phenomenon, almost as if it was a state secret...): -
